It really was love at first sight when my manShep met Kaidan. Despite knowing it was likely never meant to be, he waited faithfully for him anyway and was glad he did.
He is normal, relatable, realistic, independent and pretty drama free. His past didn't haunt him and really only seemed to make him an even better person. As such, he was focused solely on the task at hand and seemed to care for Shep's well being, needing nothing in return. While he was missed in ME2, it was refreshing that he didn't blindly follow Shep; it hurt, but he's never been faulted for Horizon because my Shep believes himself equally at fault. They're also in mutual agreement that cold weather environments suck.
