I do remember she not liking Tali and Garrus pairing and in same post she said Ashley and Garrus pairing would work out and she only made that up.


And no, she's no longer here and won't return until Extended Cut DLC.

Yeah, I think Garrus + Ashley may work, they are -close friends- in my headcanon. I just can't see the sexiness in that pairing, therefore, I don't ship it. I'm not really against it on the other hand.

Oh I totally friendship them. Ash + Garrus + Shepard? Well, I had that squad -really- often in ME1 and ME3.

I'm just no Ash-Garrus!romance shipper. Friendship? Hell yes. It's more than obvious Ash & Garrus are siblings in arms.

Too bad it's not displayed in the flashbacks. Garrusmancers should get Garrus

Garrus & Ashley were poster characters, both had CGI appearances. But while Garrus finally got the "bro" moments in ME3, the other one kinda got very few content. Well ... lets hope BW will change that with a romance!DLC for all sidelined romances one day

Wait, it's not really "offtopic" trying to realize there's no need for hatred between each fandom but stand together, stand strong. That's what we need. Not more "why is my fandom better than your fandom" or "my character is better than yours" threads but "why I support this character despite I'm a fan of that character".

Not necessary. There's a huge difference between "I'm no fan of XYZ" or "I hate XYZ".

Liara (or more precise, her story) stands for what I had hoped for Ashley - and what other ppls wanted to see for their LIs / fave characters as well. That's no reason for me to hate Liara but definitely a reason to criticise the writers / BW's development in that field: why Liara, why not character XYZ?

However, that's what I stated before.

I used to have hope for romance dlc for ALL the sidelined romances but I read in a thread somewhere a couple of days ago that Patrick Weeks would only push for romance dlc for the me2 characters, so apparently he considers Ashley/Kaidan for have gotten enough time. I know me2 ones got the worst but Ashley/Kaidan didnt get much more either, so I have lost hope :-(

Maybe the VS-fandom needs push harder then ...
(Seriously: substract the opportunity to get Ash / Kaidan back on the Normandy, and they have little more lines and screen time than Miranda - and Miranda got the MOST content of the ME2 characters. Which is still not much more than a cameo).

Link plz? I'd love to tell Kaidan & Ash fans about it.

You can make it the "VS fans want more VS content". VS means Ashley AND Kaidan, not just Ashley OR Kaidan

Yeah, Thane got most support - and that's well deserved. I fully support ME2!LI enhacements, but also want to see more stuff for the VS. Just for the second half of the game - seriously, Ashley is just a random NPC, not a full character on board. Kaidan got two little extra scenes but that's it too. You don't miss them if you don't take them back on your ship, which is -really- hard to swallow for fans of them.

Should I mention I wrote something similar a while ago? Improving character interaction, not just for the VS but for all sidelined LIs?

Yes mention please :-) Didn't both vs get same amount of content? I Kaidan had 2 scenes on the ship and Ashley got 1 but she got one ekstra at the citadel instead.

Personally, I think every fanbase has members that are more hostile towards fans of other characters. And that unfourtunately colours the entire fanbase as a whole. And I think it's a little sad.


True, I'm not posting in every character thread out there, but that doesn't mean that I don't like the other characters.

And in the case of characters that doesn't "click" for me in the same sense as my favorite ones, I don't go and throw direct insults in their faces.

I'll admit that I have at times had a difficult time keeping my ire in check. Espicially when I've felt that certain characters were being proverbially stomped on by others. Most of the time I think I manage to keep myself cool, but I know there have also been occasions where I've unfourtunately slipped up.

I try to remind myself whenever I feel that fanrage tingling, that neither I or anyone else gain anything by me being directly hostile towards fans of other characters.

The only thing I do accomplish if I'm rude is making other fans, and myself, more angry.

And that's just a Lose-Lose situation.

In my time here I haven't seen too many rabid fans "attack" other fanbases. There was one case where one or two Miranda fans started some **** in the Kaidan thread, but nothing serious went down and one of them moved to Ash fandom so he's their problem now.

In terms of defending I think every fanbase will react strongly to haters or trolls, particularly if they come in on their turf, so to speak. A few though overcompensate I think:
FemShep fans never shut up about FemShep. It's as if, the moment they stop reminding everyone that yes you can play a female Shepard, that option will just be wiped from existence. I even had one tell me femShep's accomplishments are more impressive because she's a woman. I don't know if its the feminist agenda or Meer vs Hale (I prefer maleShep myself but anyone who says Hale sucks has obviously not looked at her credits recently. If you've played a game with prominent or numerous females, chances are she's in it.) but it is everywhere.

S/S supporters will call you a homophobe and rage with the fury of a thousand suns if you even hint at not being 100% behind same-sex relationships in the game.

Awww, I would love to see that. I think Ash/Garrus would be great together if you didn't romance either of them. Oddly, I'm completely against Tali/Garrus, I just don't see it at all.

A lot of people (not all of them, mind you) both in and out of the Garrus fandom seem to think he should be with Tali/a random turian chick or no one. It's a very 'stick to your own kind' attitude that I don't really get. For non-mancers I assume it's because they think he's too 'weird' for humans, for 'mancers they want to think that Shepard is special and if he'd never tried it with her he would never be tempted to try it with any other non-turian ever.

I dont think the fanbases are aggressive. But some are more defensive than others. From what I've noticed, some (not all) Liara fans are quick to put down anyone who speaks ill of Liara, no matter how valid the reason. They make it worse when they post that ignorant "deal with it" picture (which someone will probably reply with).
