So true, Talimancers are awful. But Kaidan lovers aren't that far behind, they probably have spies in every LI topic just waiting for someone to call Kaidan annoying so they can attack us.

Well I blame BioWare for all of this, the magnitude of hate on these forums is unbelievable.
How can you hate fictional characters? Doesn't make sense.
Why you cant hate?
They can annoy you like real life person.
Traynor as an example
That accent
That attitude
That unrealistic knowledge
Airlock that way --->

Really I always thought that Kaidan fans are most reasonable. Or Ash fans. They (ok we) had to withstand quite a lot of hate from other fans. For years. It takes a lot of tolenrance to able to overcome that.
Or Jacob fans, were Jacob fans ever bad to anyone?
Or Joker fanbase. Both of them suffering quietly. And being dumped for robot and scientist.
Times I ever got forum-attacked it was from Garrus fans.

I love Liara, but hate the fanbase's obsession with little blue children. Also if I see Liara dipped in chocolate one more time....
I liked the potential of what Miranda could have been in ME3, but due to how she was handled I really stopped carring about her. But I wouldn't dare say that in that thread for fear of having a "Mirimanic" accuse me of being unfaithful and then proceed to break down and cry on a forum (okay that's just one or two extreme examples...but probably the most vocal examples)
Pretty much any ME2 romance character thread is a no-go zone for me because the constant "We didn't get enough time with our love interest" can be a very petty arguement at times. Not saying people didn't get a raw deal. They did. But it comes with the territory. In a story you cannot have all characters be equal, and you can't always get your favorite character to be in the spotlight as much as you like. It's one thing to be upset about it, it's another to go around hating popular characters or the ones who got more attention or making petitions demanding more content with them. (Though I do sympathize with the few people who actually liked Jacob as that seemed to be character assassination.)
I have never visited the Femshep thread, but it doesn't sound like a wonderful place to be. I did crack up at the five exotically named Shepards' line. It's very true.
Beyond all that most of the hardcore fans really just gush at a level that is borderline creepy. Some of it is just harmless, but there are a few posters that you have to wonder if they have a hard time distinguishing fiction from reality. You can't really carry on a conversation in the character threads if you happen to dislike said character, there is a level of defensiveness that comes out that in turn makes other people hate that fanbase and go around trying to hate on their favorite character.
So what we get is a whole forum of my favorite character vs. your favorite character that only serves to divide fans in a very silly way.

Now you mention it Garrus just became Damsel in distress in ME2. But Liara and Tali are brightest example of that - Tali continued to do so in ME2 too. And then Grunt .
Yeah seem like all Shepard does is saving their lives. But not like there is anything else to do that save lives.

Shepard didn't have to save her, but it sure was nice to get an extra soldier on the Normandy.

This so much. People are so easliy up in arms and defensive about their favorite characters to a point where it's pretty disturbing... But I do know that there are polite fans out there, they're just overshadowed by the louder ones.Caja wrote...
First of all, I loved the urbandictionary entry *g*. Secondly, I didn’t post in the BioWare forum for a long time because work and studies kept me busy. The first time I log back in, I see that BioWare updated the rules of conduct. A colleague told me that one of the DA2-writers got attacked by posters here. And I was really thinking *wtf*? Seriously?
Then I was again too busy to read posts, only that this time I was busy playing ME 3 (and still working and studying), so I missed out a lot.
I’ve finished the game now I wanted to catch up. After browsing through some threads I came to this one. And I still ask myself: what’s going on? Female Shepard-Fans vs. male Shepard-Fans? Liara fans are aggressive? Kaidan fans are aggressive? Tali fans are aggressive? Garrus fans are aggressive? Basically pretty much everybody seems to be aggressive… So, maybe it’s just me but I’m under the impression that people are less civilized nowadays on this forum than they used to be. And I can’t help but wonder: What happened to the fruitful discussions? Also, people are entitled to have their own opinions. So, I’m a Kaidan fan and if someone tells me he doesn’t like the character, that’s just the way it is. I would be curious about his reasons, though.
After thinking about it for a bit before posting, I came to the conclusion that BioWare has probably some of the most passionate fans out there. Which is good on one side because it shows that players really care about the characters and, in a way, “bound” with them. On the other hand it’s a little be scary … After all, it’s just a game and if one can’t discuss its content in a civil manner anymore (characters, ending, voice acting and whatever), it’s really kind of sad.
So, to answer the original poster’s questions: The most aggressive fans are probably the one who lost perspective for how you treat other persons. To whatever fanbase they belong to. And I'm not saying that's in the nature of things, because there are polite fans out there.

YOU GO BACK AND REPLAY AND SAVE HER RIGHT NOW!
I don't care if her romance is crap in ME3, that is a good line that makes me want to cry AND SHOULD BE RECTIFIED TO NOT EXIST IN YOUR SHEPARD'S GALAXY.
Sorry, for my male Shepard jack would always be the one he saved - only to lose her. my imported ME2 Shepard is with Steve Cortez now. But the thing that gets me is when Steve is listening to that recording of the time he lost his husband, Shepard could comfort him further by admitting that he had lost someone(Jack) to the collectors too, that would give them both common ground with each other and give the Shortez relationship greater depth.

Technically, Shepard had to save Ash only in ME2 - and even there s/he didn't came to rescue Ash but the entire colony.
On Eden Prime, Ashley held her ground against a superior force and managed somehow to stay alive. Sure, she was doomed - until Shepard stumbled over her.
Same for Tali: she was able to handle her own pretty well. The only "Damsel in distress" was Liara in ME1.
