Hurray for more Catalyst dialogue.

More time to spend with everyone's favorite character, accepting his flawed logic, following his insane plans, betraying the the core of my Shepard's beliefs.

Yeah, not so much.

This is the reason I think they're actually taking this seriously. Colour me optimistic.

This is why I too am cautiously optimistic. :)

I love the whole "is this art" discussion, mostly because it's ultimately irrelevant: In my opinion, ME is as much art as any book or play is. In some ways even more so due to the way it conveys branching stories unlike books or plays do, while also having to display this story visually. It's something more like "dynamic art".

However, I can't work out why people are arguing - regardless of whether it's art or not makes absolutely no difference to the ending not making any sense, or sticking to the stories they've been telling. What frustrates me is using this "artistic vision" as some sort of shield against backlash and criticism. 99% of the game is both artistic and consistent. The ending MAY be artistic, but it is definitely not consistent, the point is - it can and should be both.

On topic - here's hoping the fact they've pulled people back in to do lines means something big coming. I'm guessing bringing them back in for a few lines each would be hideously expensive and inefficient - if they're doing it they may as well make the most of the opportunity.

This.

All "artistic integrity" means is the ability for a creator to tell the story he/she/they want to tell.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Whether you LIKE that story or not is an entirely separate issue.  When I "support" the ending using this term, I am not saying it's good (because it wasn't), but that hey, it's their bad ending to make, and if they want to stick with it... that's their choice, and no one else's.

I'm sorry that some fans bought the BS that Mass Effect was "their" story... because it wasn't.  You can't "re-take" something that was never yours to begin with.

As for the VO's... I actually WANT to learn that they are making more dialogue for the Catalyst, in the hopes that it means they've edited what he said into something that makes sense.  Right now, you really have to parse every word into what you THINK it was trying to say.

I don't have to.  previous DLCs weren't that important. Showing us more squadmate dialogue, and ending their story arcs properly (not by a slideshow) is just fulfilling some of the promises they made.

The Arrival nonsense may make EC look better, because it was straight horrible, just like an average looking girl looks pretty with her ugly friends around. LotSB was about Liara, and its a shame it didn't contain any Garrus/Tali interaction but that is understandable. Instead we at least had some cool dossiers, which made up for the lack of other VS I guess. It now hurts me though, because my main Shepard romanced Thane (yay for lazy e-mail reusage!)

Hiring VA to do the EC is not a proof that BioWare is teh graetest company evaaar, it's just a proof that they are sane, and they are giving us what should be there right from the start.

You do remember DA:O? Right before the final battle you could talk to your squad, and the conversations were pretty cool. And after the final battle, provided you shagged Morrigan, there was an afterparty when you could talk to the squaddies for the very last time.

ME3 had the talks right before the storm, but no 'afterparty', the standard BioWare set themselves for their games.

Want to get me excited? Find news about Szarabajka's VO, and I doubt we will, because BioWare doesn't think the ending is broken. Or maybe the voice actors for Quarian admirals, or Turian Primarch voice actor. Or even Lance Hendrikssen (Hackett) or Steven Barr (Wrex). These would certainly catch my attention, not Sbarge or Helfer, cause now I can figure out that VS will have a conversation with EDI regarding the ridiculous Normandy scene.

I am also optimistic. I think that this can turn out rather well if BioWare takes it seriously.

This is BioWare.

Hope for the best. Expect the worst.

And after my achievement hunt was finished on Friday, I'm expecting the worst. Right now I don't even think I care about it anymore. It's in the too little too late category. Thank you Mac and Casey.

But if you give me a GOW Lancer so I can chainsaw Starbrat I might forgive you.

Remember the old days when your medi-gel actually worked? What happened to that subdermal implant that released it? Oh, the medigel was in the armor you wore at the START of the mission. It wasn't in the plot armor you got stuck in after the blast.

Now would you like your optimism in Red, Green or Blue?

On a more serious note, they really need to be taking this seriously. With all the people threatening to swear off BioWare games entirely, they need to put a lot of effort into it. Of course, since it's free, I'm not really sure what to think.

I'm really just hoping that we get some variety in the endings, something that shows that hey, it wasn't all pointless after all and our decisions actually mattered. I'm beyond hoping for the plotholes/stupidity to be fixed, though.

Whoever doubts Bioware before they see what's coming doesn't deserve to play their games.

I've paid for and played infinitely worse games that weren't worth getting past the first hour and since it was a crap game from beginning to end it seemed to be alright  for everyone. Mass Effect 3 is an incredible game with 10 godawful last minutes, but well worth its value overall. And they're giving out free stuff to ammend their wrongs, which really honors them as company. We can at least wait to see what will they give us.

The world doesn't begin or end in Mass Effect either, some people really need to move on with their lives, if they got one. I'll happily wait for my free extra DLC stuff while playing Diablo III. And I'll definitely be buying each and every Mass Effect 3 DLC in future.

The ending may have felt like a cop out, but I do feel the journey was worth it and that's all that really matters, to me at least.

Who knows, the Extended Cut might be an improvement. But any chance to hear more of Jennifer Hale is a positive in my opinion.

Hopefully.  It would confirm IT theory.  But EC will probably not include Shepard...alive at least.

No, it wouldn't. And there is an ending with Shepard alive. The epilogue scenes are after the ending.

It would make less sense if there is an EC without Shepard.

Yep. This. I left my Shepard breathing in a pile of rubble. I want that 'clarified', especially as Starchild said I was definitely going to die.

No it will be that dying Batarian raging at you because you nuked the Bahak system a few months before the Reapers did the same thing to the rest of Batarian space.
Serious though I do hope Keith Szarabajka is voicing harby in EC as Keith is the only VA that can make Darth Vader wet himself.

NOTE: Don't believe Harbinger's voice can strike a bed wetting fear in the dark lord? picure "No Luke...I am your father" in Harbinger's voice (removing Harbingers usual uses of the word 'we')

Why exactly is this great news or surprise worthy? Ok, the guy is saying they're recording vo work. He might as well have said "breathing a lot of air...yep yep" ....

Seriously, after all the lies and disappointments THIS is all it takes to get people hopefull or excited?? And then we wonder why they treat us like sheep...

You have no idea how producers work do you?

Gamble wouldn't say random **** unless he felt it was necessary.

PRO-TIP: Gamble is forced to relay the news Hudson and Walters can't.

Can you guess why?

It's not groundbreaking news. It's just the first confirmation we've received that the VA work being recorded right now is specifically for Extended Cut (not Multiplayer, not other DLC, etc.). I thought it was worth mentioning, especially with people so curious as to the stage of pre-production/production that EC is in.

Because anything Casey or Mac post publicly PRIOR to Extended Cut's release will be a lightning rod for negativity. I don't blame them for being radio-silent at all right now. I'd rather them be hard at work doing what they do (working with the rest of the ME writing team, this time ;) )

Want to know something else? They are being silent and are only announcing things that will be in it.

Do you know why?

Because people record everything they say.

Gamble relays what he can when he knows it will be in the final product.

They won't say random ****.
