Just before reaching the end, the game ports you to Party selection. Just courious as to why;

A) to make sure you have the Ogren (sp?) in your party.
B) give you an opertunity to grab Shale
c) give you the opertunity to switch up your party members

I figured Shale would be against me If I wanted to keep the Anvil, so I left him in camp.

Oghren and Shale have a vested interest in what you do there. So, if you want to see what happens, take them. They prefer different outcomes though, and you'd have to fight Shale if you side with Branka.

It's done to FORCE you to have Ohgren. He's not required prior to that point, but is required after it.

Don't see why it would be required unless it is so he can "testify" to the console.

They both want the same outcome.  If you choose the other one Shale fights you and Oghren disapproves.

He is required because he has dialogue necessary to move the plot forward.  Just as Alistair is required for many things.

I didn't foresee that at all.  I still don't understand why Shale is so stubborn on the issue.

Because Shale idealizes Caradin and does not want to see more people forcibly turned into Golems, I admit the second part I don't quite understand as Shale is so proud of being a golem but it's probably some elaborate act and desperately she wishes she could be mortal again. (Which is supported in the epilogue.) Oghren will actually be fine with you giving branka the anvil, but is sad afterwards and you gain the same approval regardless if you side against branka so long as you say. "You lost Branka to this Oghren is there anything you want."

Caradin is basically Shale's god. Of course she's going to side with him.
