Minus it matters, Democratic governments are as corrupt as any Empire. Even those connected by Treaties don't always obey them. Look at Europe or the US in Nato, both have carried out military operations without the others help even when it was requested. Or more to the point Greece and Turkey, if one was attacked the other would watch it burn sooner than help.

You seem to think as they have FREEEEEEEEEEDDDOOOOM that thay have some sort of Uber Magic. Maybe too much US military Recruitment Vids, beats me.

Wars have never been won on ideals. But sweat, blood and tears. The Allies didn't win WW2 by the grace of god or Freedom but at the hands of several million dead combatants, and several million more ready to take there place. 

In the current setting there are a number of instances in the lore where Mercs, Warlords, generals, and allies have turned on one another for advancement. And now you think minus just general greed and power hunger, that by being racially pure democratic goverments they'll help each other out, when because of this they have to deal with large numbers of refugee's cut off resources, the problems go on and on.

When push comes to shove a number of them will go Vichy French on what Allied force is musterd. Because Nations are made up of people and most people will willingly walk beside the devil than face his wraith. More so if the Allies are people they hate.

Yes the dark elves and argonians are something of a lower class in Windhelm, but what is there to suggest that any of that is due to decisions made by Ulfric? Generally these groups are just like any new immigrants in a country. They're Skyrim's Irish.

If the Stormcloak rebellion is successful I don't think that necessarily spells the demise of the Empire. Rather maybe it will inspire them to get their act together, to find the will to fight against the Thalmor. If this were to occur, in time Skyrim could and probably would rejoin the Empire.

If the Empire wins and crushes the Stormcloaks, what is going to trigger any sort of action against the Thalmor? No, they'd continue being used as a tool by them.

Plus working for the Stormcloaks does give the Dragonborn a good opportunity to eventually become Emperor...

Tullius himself mentions that he expects the war with the Thalmor to restart soon enough in Cyrodill, this is why there is only one Legion in Skyrim, and undermanned at that, since most of them are in Cyrodill massing for the next war.

Tullius also tells you that the peace treaty is considered mostly a truce to allow the Empire to catch it's breath and you can kill the Emperor, that's what should hopefully spark some changes in the Empire without soo much risk as losing Skyrim carries.

Nords never learn. This isn't the first time they've opposed the Empire.

Pretty much this. Its not appeasement when you nod your head yes while you sharpen a knife behind your back. Honor is not always the best part of valor.

Dark Elves were beaten in a stormcloak held city. Argonians were made to stay outdoors.

What will happen to those people when they have no place to go?

I doubt the "Honorable" Nords will go "lol its okay welcome back" so much as

"lol you can stay we need slave labor."
