And also James Vega indoctrinated. Remember, he hears strange hum being.

But there is a strange hum. The SR-2 sounds like it's running off of propellers when Shepard's down in the shuttle bay.

Yes, there is a strange hum. It's a spaceship after all, not a library.
But hearing strange hum is one of symptoms of indoctrination.

And tinnitus.

Guys? I'm scared. I think I might be indoctrinated. I hear humming, too. It's coming from my air conditioner.

Should I blow up my AC in case it's actually a Reaper Indoctrination Device? :(

Speaking as someone who has posted about this idea, I don't think anyone has claimed for certain that Coates is indoctrinated. That said, the idea is highly amusing and worthy of consideration solely on that merit.

After all, Coates is basically Loghain with a haircut.

Actually that could be how the reapers are unknowingly "servants of the pattern"

Sure, I believe in the Indoctrination Theory and all, but why do people think Coats is indoctrinated? He's pessimistic sure, but how could he even be indoctrinated. Even though he said he was trapped in Big Ben sniping down everything that moved, it still doesn't make sense, Reaper ground forces can't indoctrinate, so why?

Judging by Virmire, rEAper indoctrination has a significant range. Their artifiacts can also project this signal. Coates was in the middle of a war zone, with rEApers all over the place. I'd be surprised if everyone in London hadn't been exposed to indoctrination to some extent. I don't think Coates is actually a rEAper spy, but it's possible.

Random question, how the hell did Anderson get to London anyway. With the rEApers in control of the air, I can't see them getting a ship or aircraft over to London.

I think the idea is that he's presented in the final moments of the game, yet has an oversized role in the finale. He's constantly suggesting attacks on the Destroyer won't work, he's on the flank that supposedly falters, and he's the one who prematurely and falsely calls out that the conduit team was decimated and for everyone to fall back. All his actions work against Shepard.

It's an interesting idea, a change of pace, that he's some kind of mole trying to negatively influence the allied forces.

Might also explain why Sovereign, who's supposedly very intelligent believes the reapers have been around since FOREVER. Also, believes the Citadel is HIS.

I already assumed the control the citadel had over the reapers was similar to indoctrination. I just didn't know anyone else thought the same.

Cool, that's what i genuinely believe. Also, TIM having studied indoctrination and reaper communication believed he could control the reapers.

Indoctrination Theory 3:
The Reapers weren't indoctrinating Shepard. The Catalyst was.
This even explains destroy - the Catalyst has grown bored with his toys.

Well why not? If he can indoctrinate the Reapers, he can indoctrinate anyone.

He is indoctrinated. Think about it. Admiral Anderson ordered everybody to charge the beam and don't stop. Yet, when Commander Shepard gets hit by the beam and then wakes up again, you can hear Major Coats and an unidentified female soldier of the Alliance retreating. They are practically disobeying orders that can decide the fate of the galaxy and trillions of lives! Who'd do that? Someone that's indoctrinated, that's who.

entirely possible. The fact that you're here proves that my old solution won't work anymore= Hey! you're better at breaking things than those toys I had before. Shepard... SMASH! (okay, shoot)

brings the child image a new meaning too. which is the old meaning.

If the IT was unintended, the series ends without fulfilling the awesome potencial of the the well established notion of Reaper indoctrination. Why don't use it as a great twist, at any point, minor or major. And we all know Bioware loves twists. Why didn't any important ally ever gave in to indoctrination at any degree. All we got is some incident involving Rana Thanoptis who had very little screen time and that was in an email. How original.

And no, Cerberus obviously hasn't been entirely our ally since ME1, no indoctrination was really required in their part.
