As we look forward toward DA III, I would like to create a space where some small (and hopefully easy) improvements could be suggested that would make DA III more fun.  Here are my small and easy ideas:

1. New Hairdos for the ladies. Take a look at some of the less radical hairdos from Skyrim (variations on braiding, twisting).  I really would like a pretty updo like Morrigan's hairstyle. Seriously, take a look st Skyrim hair, there was a lot of good hair in Skyrim.

2. Let me keep the bow style I love and upgrade the weapon.  You all had some beautiful bows in DA: 2 that I hated having to give up when better bows with better stats came along.  Why not give us the chance to upgrade the bow we love? (Keep the skin, change the stats.)  Same for staves, swords, daggers and other weapons.

3.  I loved some of the robes you created for DA:2.  They were beatiful. Again, let me upgrade the robe I adore so that I can keep wearing it. (You still need to work on the hats, and hoods.)

4. I LOVED being able to change my hairstyle, etc., even though I had to pay extra to get it. You could be nice and just make it a part of the game. Women change their hair all the time IRL. It was really nice to do so in DA:2.  And I loved being able to correct facial feature mistakes.  It was great not to have to roll up a new character.

5. Finally, could you make sure that some of the endgame loot (last 3rd of the game) actually has better stats than the stuff I already have.  I realize that I paid extra to get those really good weapons and armor, but it would be nice to have something absolutely fantastic that you can loot or purchase (for an exhorbitant amount of money). Good loot is an intergral part of RPGs.

Those are what I hope are simple things that could be incorporated into the next game.

I'd like mage robe styles that had pants. Otherwise, I agree with the hairdo stuff. :)

Ungradable armor, robes, and weapons would be a nice addition ... I agree

And seriously, what is with the mages "hats"? They look hideous.

What I have always wanted is the options to keep my helmet on during conversions.
If I have a cool looking helmet I want to see it,
Mass Effect lets you keep your helmet on, I don't see why Dragon age wont let me.

Call me old fashioned, but i want a nice Wizard Hat.

I really do love me a pointy wizard hat.

Also, i'd like Mage Robes to be less prissy and more adventure worthy. Dragon Age 2 really had a lot of "prissy" robes that just seemed so damn impractical for down and dirty adventuring. All frills and clean lines. Like designer noble robes or something.

I always expect Mage Adventurers to be dressed more like the Champion armour. Comfy pants, practical boots and pouches on the belt for magical reagents. Not overburdened by armour, but protected and practical.

TL:DR - More practical Mage robes with less prissy frills. Pointy Wizard hats.

You can always go into game options and check hide helmets.

-Stop putting Mages in the traditional robes. Why do I have to run around in a dress? Why not more Mage Champion looks? Everything doesn't have to be robes for a Mage...

-Armor/Weapon dyes that can change the color or even the entire looks. Often times I'll completely avoid certain armor/weapons even though they're a upgrade because they look hideous to me. Me changing the armor/weapons to my liking would be a nice step. Bioware hinted this as a possibility in DA3 though.

-More customization in the character creator. Like tats, hair or scars. As you can see in my avatar, I added more myself on the character because DA2 didn't offer enough to my liking.

Oh, I know lol ...

I'm just saying they're hideous. Need better headgear for mages.

Oh, I really would like some more hairstyles too. More like Morrigan's, which I would like to use. Practical, yet attractive. And there were some in Skyrim I really liked. There was one I put on my Redguard that was like some dreadlock/fauxhawk combo. But there were also longer styles, ponytails. A variety.

As for the robes, again, more variety. Those dresses are very nice for some of my Hawkes, but other ones wanted to wear trousers, something more practical - like the starting mage outfit, the Champion outfit, the Warden robes, or the DLC outfits.

I always love to see more 'dos and more 'do colors including hot pink, aqua, and purple, just 'cause sometimes I would like my PC's funky lip color to match her hair and I like to have a color theme for all my characters, something that reflects their personality.

I would like friendly fire on lower difficulty's.
I play on nightmare just because it has full friendly fire.

Also I would ask that the way difficulty works be changed. On higher difficulty's I would like enemies to do more damage, but keep the same amount of health. killing enemies on nightmare is not difficult, just time consuming.

Don't make female NPC's with better hair styles than what you'll allow me to put on my own character. I think part of the reason I hated Miranda so much is because she had nicer hair than my poor femShep.

UH. I found a lot of Mage outfits in Dragon Age 2 ugly as hell. They looked like bathrobes or sheets.

I did not even bother wearing the Mage Champion Armor because it looked like sh!t. I stuffed in my storage chest and that is were it stayed.

I'd prefer seeing robes with a bit more maneuver ability and skin. I'd welcome a pants and top outfit, so long as the top does not look like a life preserver and the bottoms look like 80s work out pants.

Here are a couple of ideas:

For me most clothes looked dull and simple or overdone in case of armor (weird spikes on shoulders, chest and the like).

The only 'outfit' I really liked was the one I got in Legacy.

This thread is about inexpensive changes I know and I do not have any idea how much any addition in a game costs at expense of another thing but the clothes really need to improve.

I like the idea PurebredCorn posted; do more with colour to make a difference if that would be a cheaper sollution.

I don't know much about costs within game-design, so I will just list what I think are small suggestions that aren't really major game-altering but can provide the player with a more immersive feel.

World Interaction & Design

  • Minor changes to the world around you that feel big, like if you helped someone escape on a ship, that ship will have moved to where-ever that person moved to. Instead of the same ship still being there, after the owners left.
  • Companions commenting about the world around them (as you walk around), and responding to changes that they see as a result of player actions etc.
  • NPCs in the world commenting on the player, the players actions or the players companions while you walk past them, and not necesserily while in a conversation with you. Just so you can feel the impact of your actions and how the inhabitants of the world feel about them.
Gear, Appearance and Customization

  • Customizable sigil for armor, companions and possibly banners and such at your home-base/camp, so you can feel as if you are creating your own "brand".
  • A gear appearance tab for your character, so you can change your own armor for new stats but keep a certain appearance that you may like. Meaning you don't get stuck looking like a tool if you don't like the new look.
  • An in-game barbershop, so you can change your characters look, hair, tattoos etc whenever you want. Like the one that was present in the Dragon Age 2 addon.
  • Glowing tattoos!

Silent PC saves money that can be funneled to improve other areas.
If PC is going to be voiced, make most conversations silent text-only(no cinematic), and save the voice for the big cinematic scenes

Oh and stop trying to completely reinvent gameplay for every new game, stick with what works and add small fixes

Please! Do NOT put friendly fire on easy! Some of us aren't just playing the game to challenge ourselves in battles, but rather concentrating on the whole game... plots, dialogue, romance and yes, battles. In my case I count them all as equally important.

I agree that friendly fire should not be on the "easy" setting.  However, it would be nice if it was included on the "normal" setting.   We should not need to go to Nightmare level, to have realistic combat.  And like it or not, friendly fire, especially from area of affect damage, is definitely realistic.

I totally vote for pointy wizard hats. My mage would wear one and I otherwise never have headwear show in Dragon Age (in Origins I'd just have companions not wearing anything, the disguise option in DA2 was a good step but pointy hats are an even better step).

I rather see Mages wearing old school Wizard hats then those idiotic cowls. Seriously, who thought that was a good idea to put Arabian style cowls on mages?! It just did not look right at all. Plus that dude Torbrias, each time I played the game, I kept thinking I was speaking to that curator from "The Mummy" movie.

On 2 and 3, have you ever seen TOR's system? That's actually a really good underlying model for this type of upgradeability - that a lot of fairly mediocre items have fixed look and stats, but there's always at least one example of damn near everything which allows you to rip out its component pieces and replace them with the components of other items of the same type. So if you like the look of that helmet you picked up at Level 5, you can take the upgrades out of the epic loot drop you get from a boss at Level 15 and stick them into the Level 5 helmet instead. Or transfer them into an even nicer looking helmet, should you find one. Visual look is then under the player's control, rather than a forced trade-off against equipment bonuses.

On 5, its my most sincerely held wish that item DLC will go away and die in an unmarked grave. I refuse on principle to buy EZmode gear that becomes magically available from the game start (although I'm a purist, and the rise of freemium games has meant that paying to get a bonus is now pretty widespread and no longer seems controversial).

I don't mind when its integrated into the gameplay itself (e.g. as a reward for killing a story DLC boss, suitable for the level of the PC at the time), but I can't shake the suspicion that item DLC is directly linked to the inexplicable disapperance of the toolsets. After all...why pay Bioware for EZmode weapons if you, or a modder, can create them for yourselves?

No multiplayer? But someone at EA head office would keel over and die of shock that someone defied the dictats from above!

No facebook games? But EA2D would go out of business if people weren't getting increasingly forced to pay / play the shockingly awful spin-off games they make!

Silent PC? But think of all those poor voice actors who'll be starving on the streets just so that you can have a better RP experience!

Sorry. My sarcasm gland is in overdrive tonight. ;)

I dont want friendly fire to be tied to difficulty. I want friendly fire to be a different option, that you can turn on/off no matter what difficulty your on.

What would be very nice is a separate character creator that is moddable. This would be similar to the one released before DAO. That way players could create and tweak characters before even playing the game. The modding community could create unique and attractive looks. Potentially some good buzz could be generated for the game.

I'm unsure about how practical the modding part is, but the separate character creator is obviously quite practical.
