One of my quality control testers thought it was so cool that I could spell and say her name right on the first go. I told her I knew it because her name was a famous war hero in Mass Effect - Bhatia. She was like, "neat!".

So, yeah... more Indians. If Bioware is anything like the elite company I work for, half of their staff is Indian anyway.

All we get is Samesh Bhatia... what a cool dude! We need more of this guy! Petition for him to be in a squadmate DLC!!!

The old guy whose wife died in ME1?

If we're to demand accounts for all races and cultures, it's going to be a whole bunch of extra characters. I mean, there are no nordinc characters, no slavic ones (Kaidans surname suggest that he's slavic, but he doesen't look or sound slavic, nor does he ever refer to anything typically slavic), no Germanic or Franc characters. The only hispanic is the walking stereotype pendejo called Vega.

I see very little point in having token this race or token that race-characaters.

supposedly Ashley is hispanic. So that's two, and I think Cortez is too.

I just don't see what would be hard about having the NPC's skin color more varied.

Do I Need to continue? What is the point of complaining because there is only ONE guy of Indian decent? This is a Canadian game it is normal that nearly everyone in the game is portrayed as either Canadian or American
This sort of thing is plain ridiculous...

I agree. Its not about race, and making a token (insert ethnicity here), person. Its about the story more so than anything. They have no oblligation to include any race just for the sake of pleasing set groups of people. Besides, you can make your Shepard whatever race you want him/her to be.

The mass effect universe is oblivious to race within race. Green asari dont differ from blue. Brown turians dont differ from Grey and Asian humans don't differ from Black.

Everyone has a little bit of everything inside of them by 2186

I wonder if they have their own space-station devoted to meeting the galaxy's telemarketing and customer service needs?

I kid! ;)

Personally, I'm surprised there aren't a lot more Chinese characters in the game. If anyone is going to OWN the space race in the future, it's them.

Very surprised at the amount of Canadians in space too... ;)

I always thought there was a pretty strong "Indian presence" in Mass Effect. Not every NPC has a notable accent, but many appear to be of Indian descent. Indian names pop up very frequently, in the lore and background of the story.

If anything, where are the Chinese NPCs? As the only nation currently more populous than India, they are a bit under represented, in my opinion. It's not a big deal, and not immersion-breaking, but I did notice it.

In general, I think the series does a good job of showing a more integrated, homogenized humanity, that has still managed to preserve some unique cultural traits.

I remember there being alot of multi racial names and faces in Mass Effect. I also don't really look out for them, so there's that.

I wa super surprised they had Australians, though.

Not to mention Dr. Chloe Michel. Or the 'guy from Lyon'.

I would have prefered even just one Filipino to appear. Just one, it's all I asked for yet we're forgotten yet again. Usually people just throw in a Chinese or Japanese guy and say "There's your Asian Representation!".

Vega comments about husks in newyork so I assumed he was just hispanic american and cortez seems to be a mixture or colony born.

Emily, once again is of asian/chinese decent but I'm going to assume with a name like Emily she's not actually from china/ a chinese colony

Donovan was Afrikaner...a germanic ethnicity when I said african I meant nigerian, somali, that kind of thing.

Ken....yeah I just forgot though I suspect he was just a shout out to our most durable redshirt.

The comic shows Vega in San Diego and Camp Pendelton.  He visits his dad there too...who looks a lot like Brad Pitt.  When I think of Latin Americans in Southern California, I think Mexican given the proximity.

When I say "chinese" I'm thinking "Chinese-American".  Racially, she's Asian of Chinese ethnicity so I count it. If you mean from China, then that's another thing.

Afrikaner's are African by definition because they were born in Africa.  If you mean Black African, then that's another thing.

Red Shirts die (i.e. Jenkins).

I think he meant the VA... Unless humanity descended from Protheans? Haha, now there's a thought. Maybe it would explain the accent considering that the first humans came out of Africa :P
