Hello,
I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed elsewhere. I've read many, many posts and couldn't find it, but that doesn't mean it's not there.
I installed the game, getting the PhysX error message - got past that and it seemed to install fine. Tried to start it and got the Windows error message - Dragon Age Origins has encountered a problem and has to close.
Installed new Nvidia drivers and boom - I played for about 5-6 hours yesterday. Saved, quit, shut down computer. This morning I try to play and I'm getting the same Windows error message. Now I've installed the patch and updated my sound card driver. Still no luck. An aside question to that - does your character ever talk? I picked a voice for her, and everyone else talks fine, but I just get dialog options for her and then silence until someone responds to what I picked. Is that right?

Would re-installing the game help?

I have a Dell XPS720 system.
Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
Service Pack 3 (I think)
Bios is Phoenix ROM Bios Plus v. 1.10 A06
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory: 30740MB RAM
DirectX v. 9.0c (4.09.000.0904)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
Driver v. 6.14.0011.9562 dated 11-20-09

Voice--no voice for your character is correct. Your responses are text with no voice over. As to your specs, they meet min requirements( unless you don't have SP3)

"Windows XP Minimum Specifications

* OS: Windows XP with SP3
* CPU: Intel Core 2 (or equivalent) running at 1.4Ghz or greater
* AMD X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8Ghz or greater
* RAM: 1GB or more
* Video: ATI Radeon X850 128MB or greater
* NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 128MB or greater
* DVD ROM (Physical copy)
* 20 GB HD space."

But SP3 is a min requirement, so check that out to be sure.

I'm having the same issue right now, and it's been happening all day to me today. This is the frist day I even got to play this game and it freezes and then my computer closes the window and says that windows has to close the game. I installed the most recent patch too and now it wont start from it's oringal location; I now have to go into my computer and start it from my progam files from my local disk, before I could go to "games' and launch it from there. Any ideas?
