All this regardless of its quality, which I can't judge (haven't played it) and actually said nothing about. I've heard all sort of stuff - that's the best game since BG2, that it is typical MMO grinding crap with good voice acting, and everything in between - but that's just typical of the web, I guess.

That's what I like about TOR. I'm sure the game will die eventually, but so far it has none of the things I don't want in a game (i.e. actual multiplayer) even if some content is basically locked out (4 person heroics unless you're playing a healer).
That being said, I never played an MMO, and don't intend to play an actual one. So all of the probably very justified faults of the game (e.g. it's a grind like insert MMO here) just aren't things I'd notice.
No offense (because I actually respect your opinion when you say this), but that's exactly what's wrong with ToR: too many people treating it like a singleplayer game.
The MMO elements ruined the singleplayer experience, and the singleplayer elements ruined the community.
It really is a shame, because a lot of the singleplayer elements were really good. ToR at least does deserve credit for that.

That's rather subjective, for example I feel the PvP during leveling was great (especially after they cut the 50's out of the bracket). The point is that TOR developers seems to look at the wrong sort of people when making decisions. Expertise? Typical grindfest stuff for 'hardcore' people to shove their epeens down the throats of casuals.Skelter192 wrote...

This game has many flaws; server caps far too low for any meaningful MMO experience, no LFG tool, too many loadingscreens and annoyingly tedious backtracking and a number of smaller nuisances. I've recently played WoW again and in terms of smoothness and overall feel it's just so damn polished that it makes your pants drop.
So much to do there for BioWare... but they can do it and if they stop listening to the so called 'hardcore fanbois' that first argued against LFG tools and then against X-server LFG tools. For that matter I feel WoW has done the right thing with LFR and the gear difference.

You cannot compare the two, wow is made of of talking cows, Mages etc and TOR is made in outer space. Yes they are both MMO's and similar in that aspect but taking about two completley seperate games with storyline's that are seperate from each other.
I played WOW for the better part of a few years. I had my first toon a warrior on there and I had a great time during my prime on there. It was before the expanion of the BC. However TOR and WOW even have different maps. Huttballl for example.
Does wow have flames that shoot up in the air and burn thing's. They both have PVP maps, they both have action bars. WOW took YEARS to reach the point where they brought in dungeon finder, years before they even allowed transfering from a PVP to a PVE.
[/i]
Then the backlash from that, losing 2 million in under a year. In their last quarter result think it was a 100k or 400k drop. They got cocky. Started charging 30 dollars faction transfers. Mirco Managed everything to boost income and people just got tired of running dailys. Doing the exact same thing over and over...what's the point after a while?..to get more gear? each expansion or dungeon re-cycles gear.
But TOR could have done so much better. They marketed this like crazy. People were crazy about finding about the game. When the server's opened up they had people waiting in line for over an hour just go log in. Now most server's are dust-town's and TOR refuses to allow early transfers till June.
That's one thing I don't understand they say they are willing to offer free transfers. Does that mean every one of my toon get's a transfer or just one and I have pay 20 dollars for extra. That would be an outrageous price since they encourage you to have a ton of alt's with legacy system.
