Guns can be used for more than just crime and self-defense (which too often seem to get mixed up in the U.S. "justice" system), y'know. Hunting and target shooting can both be damn good fun - there's nothing like blowing up water jugs with a 12 gauge and picking off empty cans with a good ol' lever action rifle.

/redneck

Don't worry. All I do is hunt. XD
Deer, buffalo, moose, etc.
Some small game.
In fact I just ate some venison. :wizard:

I am  fond of that S&W AR clone, it's even more fun with a suppressor; but it's tough to beat a 12 gauge scattergun for servicing zombies.

I had a small sharp knife, but it's lost somewhere in the basement!

I really wish I had a MP 44 (the previous version of AK 47):

Besides, I don't feel the need to "protect" myself in such a fashion. If you're the type of person to think danger is lurking around every corner and something might happen someday in some way, then most of those things are useless. Unless you're carrying a gun or a knife with you at all times all hours of the day, then chances are you'll be unarmed when the prophesied altercation takes place.

Again, this doesn't have to do with danger or fear. I am not afraid I am going to get attacked. Many people who own guns and knives are not just afraid that some unknown person will attack them, hence the need to own them. Many people like myself and others in this thread genuinely enjoy being able to shoot targets for fun or own nice guns or knives, these interests being completely separate from any fear you speak of.

Yeah I'm just a gun enthusiast. I like to collect them. It's not really so much for protection, even tho it is good to know how to defend yourself.

I own a 12 guage shotgun. Fun for shooting clay pigeons and shooting small game like rabbits and squirrels. I eat the meat, too, if I catch them, unless I don't feel like gutting or the body is too destroyed.

It also is a handy safety net if somebody ever tries to break in. I could use a "please, stop!" stick for potential intruders, but something in my mind says a gun is more handy.

Proper safety precautions, always, of course.

The Sturmgewehr 44 isn't the previous version of AK-47, The Ak-1 and AKS was. The Sturmgewehr was developed by the C. G. Haenel Waffen und Fahrradfabrik company in 42. The Avtomat Kalashnikova model 1947(AK-47) was developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov while he was in a Soviet medical faculty after getting wounded on the eastern front in WWII.

I have a fascination with guns and blades, more for the aesthetic than for anything else.

Personally, i wish I had jumped on the opportunity to get this thing, but the price was too high and the time to bid on it too short.

I should have guessed no one would get the sarcasm!
The Russians just stole this model, modified it a little and here we are: AK 47 in half of the world.

I'm a Mace, Spear and Halberd fan in cold weapons. somethings like these:

I'm terrified of guns, and would never have one in the house.

I do like knives and swords... have a cheap katana / wakizashi set, and a nice Ka-bar kukri that I like to hold once in a while. (if I weren't married, I might collect more:)

How does the potato cannon work?

BTW I own some high powered laser modules too. A 105 mw Novalasers Alpha 105, 532 nm green is the best one I have.

Sigh. I was going to post some pictures of my swords, but given the prevailing "lol nutters" theme, I don't think I'll bother.

Actully the internals differ greatly, only the outside design are alike. The MP44 has many other parts, and a fully different gas system. Its like Oranges and Apples minus you have a blood orange so on the outside its the same.

In fact the prototype AK looked compleatly different.

Image IPB

The only real changes to production was a traditional guard in place of the vent guard that we see on the Ppsh, with a larger gas system for the 7.62 x 39 round, in place of the 7.62 x 25. Reflecting changes in Soviet Tactical Command thinking,  to handle the larger round the internal reciever had to be made longer to take the new larger magazine. So in short you get the iconic apperance of today.

I find blades and guns are the true masterpeices of humanity, able to endure forces, preassures and just the general needs of the operator, its just amazing when you think of it. Its often said, the gunbarrle is one of the hardest things to perfect alongside the circle.

And 22's and Mossbergs?

Pft Whimps.

A Real shooter has a Saiga and 22's that look like AR's are just the "fail lulz" well then again the 223 is not an impressive round to start with. Nevermind the weapon thats known to use it being highly over priced and prone to jamming. Why I prefer the AK and my Mosins. Power, Reach, Reliability. I do have a 22 for plinking though. Nothing I ever use for serrious shooting however. Eventually one of my kids will get it. Nothings wrong with being a shooter or a hunter.

Responsible Gun ownership is not a crime. And most people who do use them for criminal use its 9 times out of 10, an unmarked weapon, an illegal weapon, or owned by a person who can't legally even own a weapon. Nevermind things like "drugs" or uncommited sex has led to more deaths via STD's and Overdoses than any number of gun crimes and most of modern warfare. But hey thats what the "cool" kids are into.

But I just have no respect for the 223. Shoot a brick wall with it, leaves a nice dent, 7.62x39, makes a crack. 7.62x54r, lulz what wall? You mean this pile of dust? Packs alot of recoil though. This Link puts it better than me lol Most of its actully True http://7.62x54r.net/.../MosinHumor.htm Well minus saddly the Mosin has only got a 1000 yard site, and the ability to shoot someone a mile an half away lol.

As far as Mossbergs go its a solid easy shotgun for beginers, but I never have cared for pump designs. I prefer detachable mags. A Technology that untill now hasn't been highly used minus with a few weapons back in the 1950's in terms of Shotguns.
