One of the many reasons why digital downloading is superior. Can't wait for consoles to catch up.

By "catch up" I assume you mean day 1 downloading.

still not even remotely close to the pc market.

Considering the amount of space on console hard drives I can see why.

Another place for them to, you know, catch up.

Just buy this, or the appropriate analogue from whatever the office supply store where you live is.

3-6 hours at most with a 1-2 MBPS connection, just download overnight.  It's the way of the future, many tablets and net books don't have optical storage, and all software updates and downloads are handled over the network.  Once high speed becomes more ubiquitous, you won't see physical software stores anymore (unless hardware keys make a comeback as a form of DRM).

I never keep my discs in their cases after taking them out for the first time. My Halo 3 and Resident Evil 5 discs were ruined after a while. I've learned my lesson, once I got ME3 I had to fight with the tray just to get the game out.

Atleast it didn't shatter inside your Xbox/PS3/PC.. (My ME1 did, Xbox HDD was salvaged though)

And this is why I bought regular copies next to the CE of ME2 and 3...(although I wish I hadn't for 3, as I didn't want to reward such a poor ending that cares more about artistic integrity than gameplay experience and storyline)

Hope EA can help you out, good luck with trying to shake them down for a replacement copy..

Publisher: You aren't buying the game you're buying a "license" to play the game.

Customer: Great, my disc just broke, gimme a new one so I can keep playing the game I already have a license to play!

Publisher: LOL NO

^this is exactly what would happen especially with EA.

I just wish ISPs would get with the future. I use Comcast in the US and have a 250GBs/month data cap. I bought the digital Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition and DA 2 recently, and I think the download ended up being around 40 GBs total.

My partner and I also subscribe to Netflix, and HD movies and tv shows can burn through 2+GBs/hour (less than that if we're willing to drop the quality). Then there's whatever data ME3 multiplayer uses, music streaming over Spotify, video chatting on Skype with family and friends who live across the country, and regular internet usage. We usually end up under the cap by by around 25 gigs, but I can't even imagine a 250GB cap being enough for a family larger than two these days, especially if even one of them is a gamer and buys games via digital download.

And I hear that a couple of the ISPs in Canada have started enforcing 25 GB caps. :o

So... Guess I'm not the only one with this fear. Every time I go to play ME3 I fear that It might be the last.

Indeed. I've been wondering what's taking so long with that.

Really don't care for digital downloads. I prefer optical drives and having physical possession of all of my games and movies. Besides I like getting up off of my ass to go to the store to buy games.

That's why you buy insurance/extended warranty :P

Seriously?  I don't think so.  It's foolish that they didn't make sure the disc comes in and out of the case properly.  I have had a lot of difficulty getting the disc out of the case as well and I'm surprised mine hasn't cracked yet considering how much I've had to work to get it out on many occasions.

Here's one:  how about they make a decent case for an $80 game???? You can get a $20 game in a functional case, for crying out loud!  It was one of those important details that they missed.

$7 usd. Covers any damage to disc for 2 years. It's replaced with a new game disc. Cost only about 68-89 usd. Long run... Saves you money. How about this. If you don't buy a warranty to **** about having to spend more money to replace it.

Yes, I get it, that's not outrageously expensive.  The point, however, is that it shouldn't be necessary.   I have the (apparently unreasonable) expectation that my brand new game (or anything else I spend my hard-earned money on) should be able to withstand normal usage without breaking.  It's not like I am using it as a Frisbee or anything.

Although it is a little off topic, I've found that if you slowly rotate the disk as you pull it out, it is MUCH easier to take out of that metal prison they call a CE case.

Just take it out of that metal case and never return it to there. Again get a CD holder/sleeve. Why chance it?

Managed to take a really crappy photo of it:

s1065.photobucket.com/albums/u393/infamous57/

I really don't know how to focus my camera to a specific location and not have it blurry (I've tried everything so it's either the camera or my horrendous camera skills) so please, bear with me. As you can see, it's not soooo bad. But it definitely could have been worse. Circled it with paint to make sure you know where to look.

It's in a better place now.... That being a disc sleeve.

I was scared of breaking the discs while taking them out of the CD tin as well. I kept them in a CD book before I finished the game.  Perhaps the designers of the cd slots were more concerned with scratches in transit than breakage during removal?

Yeah, this kind of tin always has that problem. And I really, really don't get it. How hard is it to notice the discs are at the breaking point every time they're taken out? o_O I know my bf showed me some technique that allowed me to take 'em out with no issue but I don't remember what he did any more xD

There shouldn't be a need for a special technique though.

I bought an extra SE in ME3's case and always use the SE's disc when I play. I knew the SE would have a better disc holding mechanic and I wanted dat FemShep flip cover. Of course, I'm not going to tell you to buy a second copy of the dang game just to make sure your discs don't break, that's backwards in so many ways.

Thats great and all "turian councilor Knockout" but it don't work if your on 360/PS3.

This is big problem and not just a BioWare problem. Though companies like BioWare have a responsibility to make sure their publishers (EA) have a quality case. They had it right for how many years where you press the tab and release the disk.

Now you have to break the disk to remove them from the case. Its almost like they plan to force you into buying a new disk because you break them in the case..

Yeah, I got the Collectors Edition as well. I am afraid of breaking my disks lol. They didn't make the push button style of release like most cases do. I have 3-4 Xbox360 collectors tins for games and they all have some sort of catch that most DVD or game cases have. This one is kinda ugh.. I just ordered a 2 disc Xbox360 green case I am going to use and pack away my collectors Edition for safe keeping. I won't be playing ME3 until I get my case swapped out.

Thats why games are made for PCs and can be once registered by origin, so you can throw the disc away afterwards.

Naive to the end: I thought I was the only one. Should this not be of the HIGHEST quality? I really resent the sector seven g drones that imply we should be happy with poor quality.

Not to mention when the company you buy your digital copy goes out business/is bought out and the license activation no longer works *cough* direct2drive *cough*. :(
