One of the many reasons why digital downloading is superior. Can't wait for consoles to catch up.

Tell that to my wiped computer hard drive... <_<

Not to mention when the company you buy your digital copy goes out business/is bought out and the license activation no longer works *cough* direct2drive *cough*. :(

I haven't had any problems with D2D purchases through Gamefly (which took them over).  It did take them a while to add my older purchases to their catalogue though (e.g. Deus Ex).  If you're having trouble with games, you should try to activate them again, or redownload them through Gamefly (If you were installing from a backup of the original download, the files might have changed).  If you still have trouble, try contacting Gamefly directly.

3-6 hours at most with a 1-2 MBPS connection, just download overnight.  It's the way of the future, many tablets and net books don't have optical storage, and all software updates and downloads are handled over the network.  Once high speed becomes more ubiquitous, you won't see physical software stores anymore (unless hardware keys make a comeback as a form of DRM).

I just wish ISPs would get with the future. I use Comcast in the US and have a 250GBs/month data cap. I bought the digital Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition and DA 2 recently, and I think the download ended up being around 40 GBs total.

My partner and I also subscribe to Netflix, and HD movies and tv shows can burn through 2+GBs/hour (less than that if we're willing to drop the quality). Then there's whatever data ME3 multiplayer uses, music streaming over Spotify, video chatting on Skype with family and friends who live across the country, and regular internet usage. We usually end up under the cap by by around 25 gigs, but I can't even imagine a 250GB cap being enough for a family larger than two these days, especially if even one of them is a gamer and buys games via digital download.

And I hear that a couple of the ISPs in Canada have started enforcing 25 GB caps. :o

I think/hope that this is a temporary measure brought about by bandwidth demand growing faster than supply. At the very least that's the explanation given by my ISP when they introduced bandwidth limitations.  Essentially, fibre optics still haven't penetrated all locations and, even then, I'm not sure if optronic switching is being used.   I think the root of this problem is that the infrastructure planners didn't anticipate that smartphone internet usage would grow so quickly (or even exist) when the last set of upgrades went in nor that they would use such crappy compression (Apple devices I'm looking at you, Blackberries can send/recieve the same amount of data with 1/10th the bandwidth).  Part of the problem is also that with faster connections, people stopped compressing data before sending it; they still compress the big files, but the small files aren't compressed anymore and a lot more small files are sent as opposed to big files.

Dunno if this helps/ has been said before but if you just kind of rest the discs on the spindle holder thingys that they click onto in the case rather than pushing them all the way on then they stay in place and don't rattle around but still come out easy. Just got to be careful to open the case horizontally so they don't fall out ;)

I'm getting off topic but this is good to know, though I can't remeber what I bought through D2D anymore so maybe it don't matter if I've forgotten about the games. lol

Still I learned something, never know d2d bellied up either.

This happened to me with the Collectors Edition too, my disc 2 cracked through the middle part with the Xbox 360 hologram. The disc worked for a month or so and then yesterday it started jamming during the N7 missions. I tried cleaning the disc as they said (with a cloth brushing from the inside out) but now the Xbox says "Unrecognized disc". I think I am going to have to buy a new copy :(

When I saw how hard the disc was to get out, I immediately put them in a couple of paper disc sleeves i had lying around. Incidentally I did the the same with the ME2 discs. (I have the collectors editions for both.)

Demand a new disc to replace the one common usage broke.

There should still be a warranty granted by common consumer laws in most areas.

edit: Oh. And I'd advise against using discs with physical cracks in your console. You can risk damaging your console that way.
