Of course. I’ve got one, Mel’s got one, there’re several others too. I’d prefer it that way, I don’t really want either general thread to be filled with adverts if a lot of people start doing it regularly

Too, I'll just throw mine in as well.   I tend to pendulum.

Pieces Old And New Old and new, or not so old. To destroy is easy. To build is a struggle. A story on the aftermath of the Reaper War. Old adversaries. FemShepard and Liara. Very little fluff, stiff reading. SF Adventure.

The One That Got Away

This story, while based in the Mass Effect universe, is a story that can be read and enjoyed by anyone that likes dark, exciting, character-driven dramas, even if you don't like James Vega. A story that knows when to be serious, when to be joyful and how war really feels to a soldier.

Be warned... it is dark, psychological and will creep under your skin, though there are bright parts. This is not your usual fanfiction, especially not about James Vega.

Starts with James as a kid and watches him grow into a man with the help of a force of nature named Lola.

M for violence, language and adult themes. AU after a point. Romance: femShep. Not at all fluff.

It's on Chapter 3 right now and I post every Friday, I have a history for finishing stories and I already know where this is going, plus a beta reader for accountability. Please read and review, I'd love to hear what you think!

Have a question. There are many "types" of ff but what do they stand for? Like AU, insert, self-insert and so on ... I'm lost. Can someone explain plz?

By default, the stories are more or less consistent with the canon (smallish deviations are common), and feature established characters.

OCs, Original Characters, are characters not part of the canon that the author has created. Typically this is only significant if they play large or starring roles.

AU, Alternative Universe, stories diverge clearly from the established canon. An example could be saving both Ash and Kaidan on Virmire, or continuing to work with Cerberus post-ME3.

Crossovers combine two or more universes, such as Mass Effect and Pokemon (I’m sure someone’s done that).

Self-inserts are the author inserting themselves (or typically a character based on themselves) into the story. These seem relatively uncommon in ME, since Shepard pretty much allows you to define whatever characteristics you like.
