Maybe the Crucible was so finely tuned (high EMS) that the red explosion was completely benign (except to Reapers and synthetic life)? So finely tuned that even Shepard who was right in the middle of it could survive and land in a pile of rubble in an arm of the Citadel that fell off and was floating in space.

It's a BS explanation, but the "Shepard lives" clip was nothing more than an Easter Egg for people who played multiplayer. Shepard's basically dead, at least until EC comes out with more context for it.

And high enough EMS and Shepard's Cereberus implants make him/her REALLY fire resistant. Yeah...that's honestly my best shot at trying to explain this.

The rules of this thread are hurting my brain.

I wouldn't know as i can't get the Shepard surviving ending due to not enough EMS points.

Rescued by the Normandy (off-screen) before explosion. Scene added with EC, perhaps?

How did Shepard survive this:

Simple. He was blasted back in time and rendered unconscious.

Shepard wakes up in the Normandy's med bay with Kaidan, Ashley, Anderson and Chakwas standing over him and asking how he feels after that Prothean beacon messed with his head on Eden Prime.

Cue the butterfly effect.

Mace Spagic?

Really though, I would feel dirty even trying to follow the rules of this thread and coming up with a guess, so I think I will abstain.

Harbinger was amused that one organic could be stupid enough to completely believe some newly met random hologram's word and then proceed to nuke the galaxy when prompted by said random hologram without any argument whatsoever, thus he decided to save this organic for future comedic purposes.

This, probably.

I want to say he wore a helmet like he did in the beginning of ME2 but it gets blown off.

Yeah my Shepard lived too cause I played multi-player. But it's okay I'll just ignore the whole scene I'd honestly think it's better if Shepard stays dead no matter what ending you chose.Well I mean in the EC DLC though.

As it stands it's physically impossible. And considering you can see a Mako behind Shepard in the rubble at the end they're definitely on Earth, which is adding a whole new layer of impossibility. Sense is not something you should be looking for with the current ending, because there isn't any.

EC seems to be changing this to Shepard surviving the same way all the other important characters on the Citadel are getting their deaths retconned, emergency automated sheltering barriers and bulkheads.

Or maybe we'll get a new scene of Shepard running back to the transport beam, and only making it back to Earth with a high enough EMS.

Well that Shepard can survive with space magic no matter what was established in the prologue of ME2. Just sayin'.

notice the inner ring never gets destroyed or comes apart, watch the video again, There are plenty of ways he could have survived that, and he obviously did survive. Shep in citadel rubble at the end. NOT LONDON. gawd people lol

There is no reason whatsoever that there'd be concrete on the Citadel.

You mean the one where Shepard died and hence failed to fulfill the sole requirement for survival, which is not dying?

IT claims that Shepard beat the Reaper Indoc and woke up still in London *where Shepard never left* after getting knocked down and nearly killed by Harbinger's laser.

IT can fall a little short when it comes to the scenes of things Shepard could not personally see such as the blast, the Earth, the pulses and the Normandy's fate. Yet, all that happens before Shepard breathes so it is possible that it can be all inside Shepard's head regardless.
