That's the generic console defense. Oddly enough I've sat my ass at my computer desk for 8 hours at a time without feeling the slightest discomfort.
Good chair or a fat ass?

I would whole heartidly reccommend the XBox version, regardless of the capacity of the computer. My PC is more than capable of running this game, three times over, and I opted for the xbox version and haven't regretted my decision in any way...
Why do you recommend the xbox version? What advantages does it have?
Both versions are good (although they play quite differently) and nobody here has claimed that the Xbox version sucks or anything like that, but I am curious as to why you think it is BETTER.
Because I prefer console games over computers, I prefer my recliner to my desk chair, I prefer my 67 inch hidef TV to my computer monitor... And don't give me any crap about hooking the PC up to the TV, it would require moving all my computer stuff into the living room, which isn't feasible, and then finally because my PC is for other things other than games, specifically movie editing, software development, accounting, etc...
And I'm way more coordinated with a controller over a keyboard and mouse.
I am an old dog set in my ways, and there is no argument one can offer me to change my mind. prefer the console.
So in other words...there is no reason the xbox version is better, you just like your own setup better. that s fine and all, but hardly a reason to recommend it to other people, since no two people have PC and xbox setups identical to yours.

Is there any incentive to use 20gigs of space on my PC or should I just get it on 360?
Thanks!
Good idea I didn't even think of running it on my external. Just didn't want to use up 20g for a game I'm not even sure I'm going to like.

Basically, if your graphics card can run recent games, get the PC version. The ability to zoom out to bird's eye view is worth it, not to mention nicer graphics (enable anisotropic if you haven't already for PC).
But I wouldn't feel bad if I had the 360 version. It's like with audiophila, you can get some pretty amazing hi-fi equipment and not enjoy the music as much as you did with iBuds.

Oh wait, not everybody can afford to upgrade their computers to run the lastest games, not everybody has the lastest computers, and some people simple prefer the controller to a mouse-keyboard. First person shooters for me are better on a console. Why? I find the movement and aiming to be easier and more precises.
It's all opinionated.

You don't have to have a top of the line PC to run modern games. You could spend $500 on a PC and it will run basically everything on high settings. As long as you aren't a guy who will **** to no end because his machine can't run Crysis with everything set to extreme, ignoring the fact that even on medium it's still by far the best looking game available, you would do juat fine. A gaming-ready PC really isn't the huge investment people make it out to be. Just because Alienware will sell you a computer for five grand doesn't mean YOU need to spend that much.
As for FPS control, the PC is objectively better. You may enjoy console controls more but that does not make them better. By your definition of "easier and more precise", a mouse far exceeds an analog stick, which is why a poor player using a mouse will beat the very best player using a controller. Now if you want to talk platformers, or sports games, or maybe even racing games (excluding the hardcore sims where you basically MUST have a wheel), then you can make a pretty good argument for the controller.

Almost anything a 360 can do, a PC that's been bought from roughly a year before the 360 was released on forward can probably do, if not better.
There are reasons to play on a 360 over a PC (you don't own a PC, the PC is your parents in your living room or something that is not conducive to gaming, and so on)
but removing all the situations that have nothing to do with your personal environment, and just looking the 360 versus a PC with AT LEAST the same graphics and processing power -
the PC wins. Not only do you get mods and quicker patching and such, IT'S CHEAPER - the game itself, that is.
If you have a sweet set-up for your 360 and a crappy one for the PC, or you REALLY dislike using keyboard and mouse and can't get a good controller for your PC, or you REALLY don't like having to install games and just want to drop the disc in and play -
sure, go 360. You'll still have a blast.

You are missing the point. IF (and it's an important if) your PC can handle it, then DA:O is a better game on PC. This does not mean that the console version is bad, it means that, in the right circumstances, the PC version can be better.
Also, the part of your post I quoted is indicative of player skill not hardware/software differences.

Setting up a gaming PC that will be able to run games real well costs as much as a PS3 or an X360 today. If you have money to spare for a console then you sure as hell have money enough to built a good PC gaming rig that easily blows the consoles out of the water while having all the added effects of a PC.
Good GFX card = 100$
Good mobo + CPU + RAMS = 200$
Good 19" or 22" wide 16:10 monitor = 100$
Other stuff to get things going (speakers, mouse, keyboards) = 100$
Thats 500$ for a PC gaming rig that will put consoles to shame.

Again, there isn't proof a pro PC FPS player is way better then a pro console FPS player.
How would you compare the two? You can't run a 360 vs PC deathmatch, because as far as I know, no developer has released a game that allows keyboard&mouse-wielding PC nerds to go head to head with controller-wielding 360 nerds. And that's because the PC players would win, because their controller setup is inherently superior.
So you're right - there's no proof that the player is any better. The system... that's a different matter.

Exactly. If the OP had been asking if they should buy an XBox or build a PC to play Dragon Age, then it might make more sense to get the XBox, but I don't think that's what he was asking. It sounds like he has both an XBox and a capable PC, and is asking which version to get. I'm sure many people are in the same situation. I have an XBox, PS3, and a Mac Pro that until DA, rarely booted into Windows. I opted to get the PC version for the same reasons the first responder gave. The biggest two being limited to only a few abilities in the quick cast bar on the consoles, and not being able to use the toolset on the console.
Everyone's opinions on whether it's better to play in the living room or at their desk are irrelevant. Regardless of opinions, the PC version offers more features for $10 less than the console versions. If you have a PC that can play it, the PC version is a better value.

You can easily setup a xbox controller to run on a pc game but no self respecting fps gamer would use that if a keyboard and mouse is available unless its a casual couch gamerSheffSteel wrote...

As for my choice, I would have been hard-pressed to make a decision but ultimately would have bought DA for the PC. Then, a few weeks before the game came out, my PC died; that made my decision for me. So I'll grab all the Achievements for the Xbox version now, and then in some months when I buy a new PC I'll get that version of DA (hopefully with all the extra content bundled) and witness all the improvements first hand.

Of course they do. There's always someone that gets insecure or puts on airs and...there it goes. Bottom line: the PC is a more versatile and powerful machine than the console is, but there are plenty of perfectly legit reasons to prefer a console. I enjoy both. I have a desktop for work and games I like to use a mouse for (FPS, RTS, most RPGs, etc.) and in my living room I have a multimedia/gaming PC and several consoles. It's all good.Sloth Of Doom wrote...
I love how these threads always devolve into PC vs Console bickering.
As someone that feels really comfortable with both I have to say that I feel crippled when I play an FPS with a controller. It's not just aiming (no competition here...mouse is over 9000% more efficient for aiming...thank the lawd for auto-aim with controllers). Let's say I'm running for cover and need to look behind me. With a mouse I can flick my wrist, see my entire environment in a fraction of a second, then flick my wrist again and be focused on what's in front of me again. With a controller I have to wait for my field of view to move with linear accelleration to where I want to look, and then I have to-- oops, I'm dead.DaeFaron wrote...
So a gamer who plays FPS on a console
has no respect for themselves? As I said its all opinionated, whether a
keyboard+mouse is "superior" to a controller.
In a game like DA:O I definitely choose the PC version, not only because I like to play with the mods/toolset, but given the strategic nature of the combat I'd go nuts if I couldn't point and click.
