The Wardens are part of an idiotic organization, so no.

I'd rather be a Witcher. Specifically a Witcher like Letho.

Actually, you could live a full life prior to becoming a Grey Warden. But being a Witcher is limiting from the get-go.

It's a tough choice, but as I don't like the perspective of not being able to have kids and genetic mutations (you do know they're more probable to go wrong, right?), I'd choose a post-36-yer-old Grey Warden. Probably...

How could you live past 30 without going insane? If that case, i would become a Grey Warden, not having kids is bad.

Are you arguing that one cannot exceed 30 without going insane?:D Maybe if you count being a "grown-up" insane, then yes.

But my logic was a simple one. Live through 36 years of a good life (or 45 or whatever your preferred age may be), then end it with Grey Warden glory, with the drinking of orc (edit: darkspawn) blood.

But that's only if I wasn't sure what kind of Witcher I'd be. If I'd be a dead one (or mutated unto freakyness), I'd much rather I wasn't one.

If I'd be like Geralt, then it depends on how much I'd value having children...

Grey Warden i lose family, i think i become sterile, no health benefits as i know off, would go insane at the end, short lifespan and seen as a traitor.

How does becoming a Grey Warden make you a traitor?

The entire plot of Origins. Grey Wardens were seen and branded as traitors.

Only in Ferelden and not anymore.

Also Witchers go through a rather dangerous and painful trail and since they are seen as outcasts living in a city isn't exactly ideal.

A Grey Warden on the otherhand can live in a city and live a normal live but just one without children. After 30 years they die but they are currently seen as heroes by most folk and joining the Grey Wardens does seem to give extra strength to one who survives as referenced to the extra skill point and statistics that you gain after the trail.

A Warden Commander also gets his own keep and personal so if we're talking about Warden Commander then that's what I would go for otherwise it'll be a Witcher. A Warden Commander is definitely the more beneficial choice. Yeah you might be 55 or 60 when you die but you'll be in command of a keep and small army for those thirty years while living like a king deciding the fate of those in your land.

So would you choose to live 30 years as a king or 100 years as a loner despised by men and monsters alike? The later seems like Hell on earth for me. Geralt is only respected for matters not concerning The Witchers and I'd imagine other Witchers are meet with more hatred and distrust. The glossary entry in The Witcher 1 at least states that Witchers are rarely welcomed among people. Most were killed due to that hatred and it could easily happen again.

On another note, if you're a Warden Commander during a blight then you'd literally have people falling at your feet and worshiping you. I mean we got to solve that political dispute in Origins, we solved other disputes throughout the world, led the army that we assembled into battle and even got to choose who would rule Ferelden and that was all just as a regular Grey Warden. Asides from that, you can also conscript almost anyone into the Grey Wardens and kings welcome you warmly.

Not all Witchers have to be scraping it by and hated. I probably would have taken Codringher up on his offer and become a  'modern' witcher.

Becoming a witcher excludes death on trials and training as well as unwanted and crippling mutations. Either you live through training and trail of grassess (with enchancing mutation or two) or you dont. If you live it through and are perfectly fine you receive swords, a medallion and become a full fledged witcher.
Then you hit the trail in search of work.

About longivety, Vesemir is the only old witcher. Witchers do not die of old age, they end their lives in some murky cave, on swamps, clamp or other disgusting and frightening place, alone, with something even nastier chewing at their flesh.

Not so cool :] in retrospect.

Guy Warden though? Borring. :D

Vesemir, while being the oldest Witcher in Kaer Morhen is still having the health of an 20 years old guy, as seen in the books.
So no worries there.

Grey Warden. I do not like how a game that gives you choices locks you into a character, I want to adjust how they look like. One of the reasons why I have not touched witcher 2 or 1 for that matter; I do not like the main character.

Witcher and I would have said that simply from the books before I even played the games. Travelling the land solving mysteries, slaying monsters and bedding big busted wenches seems like an alright life.

Why would I want to be a Gray Warden slowly going mad from the taint and hanging about with people like Alistair? Plus their weapons all look like big toys, I'd be ashamed waving a DA weapon at an enemy.

Geralt is one Witcher. This topic is asking you what order you want to be part off based on the duties, pros and cons. You won't be Geralt if you choose to be a Witcher...

Here you go.

Have to say a Witcher and not just because of all the benefits but just because Wardens end up going insane I'd rather be hated by people then insane or tainted. Besides anyone who is anyone in the Witcher universe respects or doesn't outright hate Geralt.

Meh Spectres aren't special their powers/abilites aren't "unlocked" when they reach Spectre status.

Agreed. And there are plenty of kings who would value the services of a Witcher, like Foltest did Geralt. While Witchers are neutral, you could get yourself a nice cozy job if you ever stop wanting to follow The Path.

Women can't survive the trial of the grasses, or something like that. Even Ciri never went throught the trial. In the TW universe they are more prone to magic, which is a far better deal than being a witcher anyway: more powerful, long lived, altar your looks to suit your whims, f*ck with kings to no end.

:kissing:

Thinking about it, I wonder why the writers at Bioware are so attracted to the hero as Martyr bit.

They should start training witchers in Ferelden. Saves resources. Guy Wardens would become obsolete I guess. And I bet they would find a concoction recipe for arch demon.. and other demons and spawns, dark or light. Plus every witcher is a bit of mage :D

Rise a bunch os schools with blood mages as tune-mages that can tune any mortal into a witcher, preferably at young age... add some beneficial mutations here and there and you are set to go... to take on blight. I wonder who would hunt who in the Deep Roads XD

But then The White Wardens would arise and if they fail, then then forbidden Dark Wardens would take their place. These no-nonsense elite warriors were training for battle while in their mother's wombs! They have no fear about ****blocking a king and they pretty much waltz about doing what they want.

Don't get me started about The Black Wardens. Technically they don't even exist and tales of them are few but ancient records speak of them in fear and claim that they move so fast that you don't even see them. Black Haw Ie is a legendary hero who some say is a myth but he was real and one tale claims that he was so fast that he once had sexual intercouse with a woman and she didn't even know it because of how fast he was. She just fealt a sore down below after Black Haw Ie had finished with her...
