Uh oh. I just noticed something. Have you seen the section this thread is in? No spoilers allowed.

Uh oh indeed. Looks like my posts on this thread need editing. Same with other people's posts.

Yeah, I noticed that earlier.  This is hardly the only thread with major spoilers in this section, too.  Further evidence that the moderators close threads based mainly on personal preferences or the alignment of the stars or what they had for breakfast and not on any set of "rules".

Hint: We're talking about opinions, not facts.

People seem to have an incredibly hard time distinquishing between those two.

The game has been out two months by now the people have bought and played the game to it's completion and those that haven't bought it have read player reviews and don't plan on buying it so I really don't see the point of no spoilers in this secton but you can have them in this one.

Must be BW's anal retentivness at work:whistle:

The single player EMS issues is fact

ending and quality of multiplayer or lack there of aside there isn't enough assets in single player to get the best ending without the aid of multiplayer or iphones

Not that you're completely wrong, but as a nice counter-example: I just played ME1 and ME2 for the first time a few weeks ago...  Of course, I made it a point to completely stay out of the forums until I finished...

But not every person is someone you have to avoid. I have never seen so many people so dedicated to teamwork and making sure everyone gets out alive than in the multiplayer.

Simple answer - tastes.

As has been said, I don't like to deal with people I don't even know when playing a game. It's not my cup of tea, never was, never will be.

Maybe it's an age thing. I'm approaching 50 and I'm playing at my own pace. Meaning, when I get bored, I quit. That usually doesn't sit well with any multiplayer community.

I can relate: multiplayer isn't my favorite thing usually.  I didn't play it at all until after I finished SP and was just curious to see if MP was any fun.

If you really want to see the "really good" ending, there are several ways around dealing with multiplayer, although I think playing multiplayer just long enough to get what you need for the "really good" ending is the easiest.

What I did: searched for "mass effect 3 good ending" on YouTube.  Watched the extra few seconds.

Don't throw around insults like that. They still have them (non-spoiler forums) for their other game forums.

Thank you for proving my point of how utterly useless it is to have sections seperated into Spoilers approved and spoilers not approved :innocent:

Not very easy if you don't have XBLive Gold. Not very easy if you have a slow internet connection. Not very easy if you have an unstable internet connection.

It's not just that people don't want to play multiplayer, though that's an entirely acceptable reason, but some simply can't play multiplayer. Also, no iphone/pad/whatever to play apps. Only option, modding saves. Some people won't do that because they're paranoid that MS will find out and... well, I don't know what they think MS will do. Some people just can't figure out how to mod saves. Some people may not have a computer capable of modding saves. Sucks to be them.

Sucks more that BW lied and didn't let single player be complete without multiplayer/app use.

^This.

After that "artistic integrity" ending this game have lost any replay value for me.

Multiplayer is where all the fun is. Who could have thought that ME3 will be one of the best co-op games.

Co-op is the only thing that made this game decent, and playable.

If the Extended Cut expands on Shepard's breathing scene and if it still requires you to play multi-player to get it, then I'd be mad. Otherwise, it's just a three-second cutscene that we're not really sure it's canon or not. After all, Shepard's journey is supposed to be done with Mass Effect 3.

Not canon??? how the hell can you say that when that scene made by Bioware, is in the game, which in case you didn't know is also made by...surprise Bioware.

As far as the OP I agree on you take on multi-player, you should not have to play it to advance your single player game, nor should you have to buy a freaking i-phone to play some app to advance your single player game. Both bad calls on Bioware's/EA's part. But since EA is only intrested in making money and milking the franchise for all its worth we should not be surprised. Wouldn't shock me if they get kick backs from apple too for having the app only on i-phone.

Because everyone has an iphone or ipad right? get over yourself.

Oh my god... the amount of self-righteousness in this thread is just comical.  So you don't have an iOS device so you can avoid playing a few minutes of multiplayer in a game you paid $60 for and invested over 30 hours in and want to see an extra 2 seconds of...

Someone call Amnestry International - people are being tortured in this thread!!

Wow! Way to overreact! I think you need to understand the reason why people are displeased by the current state of the game. You are assuming or projecting that people are clamoring to see a 3 second scene. WRONG. They are displeased becasuse they are forced to play MP or use peripherals to get the most out of their games. (granted it's very little) It's the principle not the content. Why should I be forced to play MP when I either don't want to or can't? (or both) It's a bad mechanic and unfortunately EA is dictating that it will be the standard for all of their games. That is a mechanic that I have have no interest in being a part of so I will stop buy EA games. Mass Effect 3 and SSX are the last games that Have bought from EA.

Wow, it's amazing how some are still completely missing the point. We were promised that the SP would stand on it's own and MP was optional. That is not true. There is something that is locked out of the SP for players who can't/don't want to play MP or play some stupid iOS game. That is a fundamental no-no. It doesn't matter how large or small the content is. The fact that it is there at all is a disgrace.

The single player game stands on its own and all the other elements are entirely optional. Not being able to get a particular cutscene or be able to play a batarian or a krogan does not invalidate the single player game.

False.

Gibbed is the best solution. In fact, I recommend everyone with a PC or XBox to use it to double their War Assets as if they had 100% readiness, and just turn off MP so that BW/EA don’t get the impression that people are OK with being lied to.

I refuse to play MP – which I otherwise might try – so long as it is lied about and forced upon people who have been playing a single-player RPG.

I still don't get it why they didn't include the new MP weapons, maps (as N7 missions) and skills in the SP part. I know you can hack the guns into SP, but it shouldn't be the case.

The Geth SMG with heatsink and spare ammo mods is the closest thing to enough dakka. But it's still not enough.

Its not forced on you.  I don't play it.  You don't play it.

What's the gun to your head?  One ambiguous cutscene?   Sorry, don't buy it.

Here we are, another thread on this issue. A similar thread was locked down this afternoon (BIOWARE?? Y U NO FIX GALACTIC READINESS AND EMS????).

Thread after thread. Lockdown after lockdown. Two months (and one day) since the game's release, this issue continues to be raised in this forum - and for good reason.

People want an answer. And they deserve it, given the hard-earned money they've spent and the 100 plus hours they've invested in the trilogy.

Independent of how one feels about SP/MP and how they do or don't affect one another or the ending, the fact remains this game was marketed as a single-player experience SUPPLEMENTED with other modes of play.

It's bad enough being "left out in the cold," as the OP stated, it's worse when Bioware refuses to address this issue in an official manner.
