It might only be a 20 second cut scene, but a broken promise is still a broken promise.

So your ok with games developers lying to you? How much content needs to be locked before its an issue for you?
Something that actually matters? A brief, unexplained, ambiguous cutscene does not qualify as content in my eyes.
If I couldn't do certain missions or there was a clearly better set of results, like a fourth choice, then I might think they were misleading me.
Though, even then, the quote said you don't need to do multiplayer. Which is still true. There are non multiplayer based alternatives available. Not that that counts in your eyes, I'm sure.

For me it's the principle of the matter - Bioware assured us repeatedly that nothing would be locked off from the Single Player, that MP was just a different way to get to exactly the same endings. That has been shown to be untrue.

It doesn't matter what my reasons are for not playing multiplayer or using the apps, I shouldn't have to play it or use them to access single player content, regardless of how insubstantial it is.

Here we are, another thread on this issue. A similar thread was locked down this afternoon (BIOWARE?? Y U NO FIX GALACTIC READINESS AND EMS????).
Thread after thread. Lockdown after lockdown. Two months (and one day) since the game's release, this issue continues to be raised in this forum - and for good reason.
People want an answer. And they deserve it, given the hard-earned money they've spent and the 100 plus hours they've invested in the trilogy.
Independent of how one feels about SP/MP and how they do or don't affect one another or the ending, the fact remains this game was marketed as a single-player experience SUPPLEMENTED with other modes of play.
It's bad enough being "left out in the cold," as the OP stated, it's worse when Bioware refuses to address this issue in an official manner.
^ Yep. You said it well.
Bottom line? Us single players were fed a line of BS all along, and Bioware has done nothing to address this issue. OK we get lockdowns of the other threads with the Mods telling us they are looking into it..for two months now. Lipservice at best I say.
And it's just not the EMS thing. How come the multiplayers get weapons that are unavailable to single players? How come multiplayers are getting all these special weekends and other items while single players are getting nothing? It's shameful on Bioware's part and regrettable that an otherwise stellar franchise has been sullied by this kind of crap.

So you're Ok being lied to, up until the point that its about something you deem matters. Many people rightly disagree with your opinion about the content of that cutscene. Most reasonable customers would also take issue over being lied to at all.

There is one alternative to the Multiplayer to increase galactic readiness, that is the IOS app, which requires either an Iphone or an IPad to play, that is not part of the single player experience.
The quote from the FAQ states
"You can reach the highest levels of success in the single player
experience alone, but Galaxy at War gives you alternative ways to get
there."
That statement is demonstrably false

If you really want to see the "really good" ending, there are several ways around dealing with multiplayer, although I think playing multiplayer just long enough to get what you need for the "really good" ending is the easiest.
I'm on the PC and I already modded my coalesced.bin.
But that's not the point. Point is, it shouldn't be necessary for people to do something they don't like. Especially since the majority of players don't have the luxury of modding their game.

I got the ending with Shepard breathing with a little under 7k total war assets. My galactic readiness was at 65% and I haven't played enough multiplayer to promote yet. I am starting to think the ending sequences are based on total assets or they changed the values needed in the last patch.
4000EMS and some story hoops are whats required for the Breathes ending, if you had 7k multiplied by 65% GR you would have managed it.
The problem comes when you dont play any MP or IOS games at all, leaving the GR at 50%, theres not enough mutualy exclusive assets in the game to total over 8k TMS.

You won't get the breathing scene. It's simple math. There's not enough War Assets in the game to get 4000 EMS at 50% Readiness level. About 500 assets are missing.TauAngelicus wrote...

Its not forced on you. I don't play it. You don't play it.
What's the gun to your head? One ambiguous cutscene? Sorry, don't buy it.

Exactly coolbeans.
And what happens in a few years when there will be no multiplayer?
This issue also effects achievements. I've not been able to get the Master & Commander & Defender achievements (That's with an ME1, ME2 imported character, played insanity, did all sidequests ect).

I think that BioWare will want to use the EMS points gathered from future DLCs to make Shepard's breath scene possible to achieve.
That's the one. This will happen, any money it happens.
So it's essentially pay for the ending.
What would be really amusing is if this extra ending is expanded upon in the extended cut but you'll still need over 4000 points to see it of which you won't get unless you play MP or get the extra points needed in SP using the up and coming DLC.
I reckon the reason it's taking so long for an official reply over this fiasco is the difficulty in spinning the negative side of it into something positive so no one looks bad lol
To me it runs like this : Bioware/EA bull****ed, they got called on it and haven't figurered out how to best reply without causing another ****storm, with the exception of the EMS thread getting deleted after various game files were looked at and it was proved the numbers didn't add up which to me is the equivalent of TPTB saying "Ur Mom!"

Default is 5k for that scene, You can get it with 4k depending on some specific choices you make towards then end, I wont post em as its in theory the spoiler free zone.

It's already "pay for the ending". MP is 'encouraged' by tying it to SP and having the readiness decrease over time so that more people will play the multiplayer and possibly buy mutiplayer content.

I believe they never meant that "The Best Ending" was the "Breathing Scene". It looks like Synthesis is option they are most proud of, and YES, you can get it playing single player alone. I think the "Breathing Scene" was always meant as a small eastern egg, a bonus for those who play a lot of MP. Just think about it - a lot of people change their decision only to get the "breathing scene", so their Shepard would be alive - come on, if there is ever going to be a "post-crucible" dlc, would Bioware limit it only for small group of people who got the "breathing scene"? No, by now you should learn, that in Mass Effect your decision don't matter, so your Shepard would be alive no matter what ending you got - (well, except the "Earth Burns", but it is difficult to mess up so badly, kinda like with Sucicide Mission, where it was harder to die than to survive with everyone alive).
My thoughts, too. But it won't keep people from screaming bloody murder over not being able to get the Breath ending without doing absolutely anything but SP.

Hey wes if you're on origin feel free to add me InvincibleHero. I don't even have a mike. I don't care what your build is or if we wipe as long as people co-operate and rez and do objectives and make it into the circle(I loathe when they just stand there getting kills when they cost everyone 10,000 to cap a 300-400XP mob). I have played a second game with team players even after a wipe in round three silver. Sometimes bad luck just happens.wes60620 wrote...
I have to say that im not too crazy about the multiplayer
element of ME3. I’m tired of the
cheating, profanity and ranting of other online players because your tactics aren’t
the same as theirs. I loved ME1 &
ME2 for the fact that I made the decisions & moves to achieve a good result,
not based partly on the performance of others. There’s no way to successfully end this
edition with a favorable outcome without playing online. Think I wasted my $70.

Hey, awesome advice! Thanks. Let me just crack open my ME3 case and grab the device that plays the app...and...hrm, seems to be no device in here. Odd. Maybe there's a coupon for one, because, yknow, if you're going to make some game content accessible only through some 3rd party device, after promising that single player alone would be able to access all the story content, that would seem to be the thing to do....hrm, no coupon, either.
Making a game that requires multiplayer participation to access some content is fine. Making that same content accessible through the use of a third party device and app is fine, too....except in cases where you advertise ahead of time, in direct response to your fans and customers' concerns, that single player play alone will be able to access all that content.
People aren't and have never been pissed that some content was locked away...that's pretty standard for games, and has been for a long time. They're pissed because Bioware said that the story would not rely on this...and that turned out to be not true.

Why the first reply in this thread must be such a retarded one?
MP is needed to get the best ending, period. I don't give e flying f%&k about some silly games or apps for facebook or iOS or other useless crap for kids and grandmas. I bought a finished product for a PC/console.
