What it is:
The Platinum Difficulty mod offers players a tougher challenge than Gold. Without teamwork it is virtually impossible to beat the game. Most weapons and powers have been balanced to make all the classes and races viable. Overall it's a more balanced game mode than the unmodded version of the game is today - just 10-20 times harder than Gold. The mod is not released yet, as it still needs tweaking and testing, but we're getting close. Right now we're focusing on the Reaper faction. But we will continue to tweak and update the mod to include all the factions (Cerberus, Geth, Reapers). Each faction must be carefully tweaked in order to become stable and solid.

What it contains:
  • Tougher enemies: all enemy health/shield pools have been increased by ~50 %. Including trash mobs.
  • Higher wavebudget: resulting in more enemies per wave and per spawn point.
  • Power rebalancing: Almost every Power has been rebalanced, either buffed or nerfed. 
  • Combo unlocks: Fire Explosions and Cryo Explosions can occur not only when enemies die.
  • Weapon rebalancing: Overpowered weapons have been nerfed and less useful ones have been buffed.
  • Lower credit gain: Wave 3-6-9 rewards less credits than Gold, but there's credit gain for Extraction.

Full video showcasing an entire match is coming soon, both from my own, and korolen's point of view. In all honesty we haven't been able to beat Platinum, yet. The furthest we've come is Wave 10 on Glacier where we wiped 7 seconds into the Wave - and that's after playing the difficulty about ~30 times... and with Biotics, which are still very good after being nerfed substantially. 

Changelog:
- We will release a full changelog when we release the first build of the mod.

It's great to see people doing this, and such a shame that it might result in people getting banned. I really hope Bioware announce that it's okay provided the credit gain isn't altered.

I really look forward to hearing about the balance changes you're making - I expect they'll be met with much approval from the community, since Bioware insists on making tiny changes, small numbers, days apart. Perhaps you could post them as you make them, to provoke some community input on them as you build your mod?

It's been 9 days, I believe since I posted the "Zombies Mod" and they've yet to address that. I also hope they won't react to badly seeing as there's no higher credit gain than Gold. (No credit gain on Zombies). 

Here are a couple balance changes, that's about 1/7 of the list, so far.

Reduced Biotic Explosion damage from [100-250] to [75-190].
Unlocked Fire & Ice Explosions
Fire Explosion damage over time reduced from [20-50] to [0.01-0.01] UNTESTED
Fire Explosion radius decreased from [300-600] to [50-500] UNTESTED
Cryo Explosion damage increased from [50-125] to [100-175] UNTESTED
Cryo Explosion radius increased from [300-500] to [300-700] UNTESTED
Cryo Explosion freeze duration increased from [2-5] to [4-10] UNTESTED
Singularity:(duration not increasable)
Radius increased from [100] to [150]
Max targets increased from [2] to [3]
Projectile speed increased from [3000] to [5300]
Cloak:Minimum cloak cooldown time increased from [3] to [3.75]
Base cooldown increased from [10] to [12]
Carnage:Cooldown decreased from [10] to [8]
Projectile speed increased from [2000] to [2500]
Instant damage percent increased from [0.75] to [1.0]
Incinerate:Damage increased from [300] to [450]
Instant damage percent from [0.75] [1.25]
Projectile speed increased from [3000] to [4300]
Cryo Blast: FUNNIEST THING EVARRRRR
Projectile speed increased from [3000] to [4300]
Duration increased from [3] to [8]
Base damage taken bonus increased from [0] to [0.15]
Energy Drain:Shields restored changed from [0.5] to [0.175]
Shields restored evolve changed from [0.5 to [0.175]

I like your balance changes, Bioware should take a hint from this. Did you buff shockwave as well?

Also, are you able to adjust enemy speed?  Because imo faster speed is harder than more health.

Yes, Shockwave cascades further. 

Not that I'm aware of. Trying to increase all enemies fire-delay, though. So they'll "notice" you faster.

While this is cool, why did you nerf so much if you can't even beat it? Shouldn't the nerfs come when something makes it too easy? I like the HA buffs though. Wish I had those.

Good luck with this. Its too bad I'll never get to try it because I'm a xbox player.

What's the point of something so much harder with no more credit gain than gold? I'm thinking everyone should be happy that they can finish the highest difficulties with no problems, and that if Bioware wants a higher difficulty, they will release it.

It's supposed to be hard. Things aren't nerfed so much they're useless, almost every power and weapon has been rebalanced to make all the classes viable. It's beatable, but it's hard. Which is again: The point of the mod.

Not all of us play for credits. Some of us play to be challenged and have fun. The highest difficulty isn't very hard when you can beat it with virutally any class and setup. That's why.

It makes you wonder why this game is still so unbalanced when a couple enthusiasts just had to modify a file and play around to achieve the balance most of us have been asking for.

We consider this cheating. Nothing will be done in this case as it's been a grey area for a while now but this is the first and final warning to everyone. If our stance on this changes in the future we will make everyone aware of it via a forum-type announcement.
