So they made some money off mass effect? Big Deal it's not like it was unexpected considering alot of stores reduced the price of the thing. I'm sure they are concerned about the 400k TOR subscribers they lost which would of brought them more money in the long run than ME3 sales.

Still have 1.3 million subscribers and TOR just launched in 38 more countries - which aren't included in this report. Still has better subscriber retention that most other MMOs. I'm sure they'll be fine.

Didn't TOR JUST lose 400k subs?

Yes but according to him they still have 1.3 million so who cares right? Losing 400k subscribers is a horrendous loss no matter how you try to spin it. I'm not the best when it comes to math but the monthly fee is about £8 and x that by 400,000 it comes to about 3.2 million so with 400k gone they lost an additional 3.2 million a month which could of been spent on developement.

That is a very bad thing and a loss is still a loss.

No, please learn to read what I actually say and not what you think I said in order to push your own agenda, thanks.

400k is a loss, but it's not nearly as bad as you're trying to make it out to be. The game will be profitable at 500k subscribers. They currently have over twice that number. They also JUST launched in 38 new countries - which is not reflected in this report, which will easily make up that 400k number and then some. TOR is not sinking, it is not dying, no matter how hard you wish it to be true.

Your mindless devotion is rather annoying. I never stated i wanted TOR to die like always you continue to assume and run your mouth, i stated that 400k in subscribers lost is something to be concerned about to which it is unless you consider a company losing 3.2 million in subscribers per month a good thing if so i want to know what you consider a disaster.

The whole 500k subscribers that you mentioned has been peddeled by people defending TOR over at TOR's forums since it's release, sure it could run with 500k but they lose the opportunity to do much more as the profits from those 500k are used to maintain the game. So please actually read people's posts instead of posting your usual bioware defense bull****.

This is a great accomplishment for EA in a moment when the economic crisis is finally reaching the video game industry (Nintendo closed the year on the red for the first time in three decades).

Nintendo's problems come from plummeting Wii hardware/software sales, DS drop and very slow 3DS start though

Free social games are killing Nintendo.

I have mixed feelings about them making a profit. Certainly I don't want people to lose their jobs, but I very much dislike how they handled ME3. There's the Day 1 DLC, then there's them promising us single player alone would be enough to see all endings which ends up not being the case, and they still haven't even fixed the problem (leading me to believe it was in fact intentionally done). And then there's the obvious rush job towards the end of the game leaving us with a nonsensical ending. I don't think such business practices should be rewarded.

The numbers may go up, but if they go back down at the rate they did here that's bad news.

And if my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle. Just because subscriptions went down over one time period doesn't mean they'll continue to drop at that rate. Again, TOR only needs 500k subscriptions to be profitable - this is from the mouths of EA themselves. Right now, even after losing 400k subscriptions and not counting the launch numbers in the 38 new countries it just launched in, it has over double that number. TOR is fine. It's not dying. God I get so annoyed at people who want BioWare to die.

My mistake - I got it mixed up with Battlefield 3, which came out in October.

Meh, I'm tired.

Given the similarity between Cawadoody and BattleClone, I suspect it's not fatigue at work. :D

He never said he wanted bioware to die, you now put words in his mouth, he made an observant statement and you came out with that crap. I made a statement about them losing subscribers and BAM 2 minutes later you appeared claiming i want bioware to die.

Your mindless hatred is even more annoying. The 500k number is directly from EA. Currently they have over twice that number, so there's still plenty of money for development. Please, learn to understand numbers befre posting your usual "I HATE BIOWARE" attack bull****.

I tell you what, go find anywhere in my previous posts where i said any of the following

" I want bioware to die "
" I want bioware to burn "
" LOL TOR IS DYING "

I never attacked the game at all or bioware for that matter your assumptions as per always decided to assume that. I don't want bioware to die but i suppose you'll believe whatever the hell you want right? I said that they lost subscriptions which is a bad thing. WoW lost 2million subscriptions as you said yourself but that game still maintains the most subscribers any MMO has out there, TOR will survive i don't doubt that but 400k in lost subscriptions isn't good.

I believe based on prior actions and statements made by you. Just because you haven't said you want BioWare to die in this specific thread doesn't mean I don't actually remember other statements you've made along those lines in other threads.

And to that you have no proof instead you're running your mouth with nothing to back it up, great, that's your plan? Or did you look at the retake avatar i had a few moments ago and assume that i hated bioware?

Edit: Haha just noticed you post above, figured as much.

Given that this has diverged wildly from the thread topic and is getting right into personal territory this will be my last response to you here. Simply put - no matter how hard you wish it weren't so, people remember the things you say in other places. Trying to say "I never said that" is completely and utterly untrue. Just because you haven't said it HERE doesn't mean you've never said it at all.

Because of the "not with then against" look of things you seems to have I suppose.

Like with many arguments on BSN, the very devoted and fanatical ones are all the same, they just have the complete opposite opinion.

Enjoy hatin' lads.

I actually don't have that kind of outlook, thanks. I'm fine with people who simply dislike the endings, it's the ones who continually rant on and on about how BioWare "owes" them, or demands BioWare change things to suit them, or berate people for the grand crime of liking the ending that I'm against.

I'm also against people who pop in, make snippy little comments about members of one side, then try to say "no no, I'm really against BOTH sides, even though all I'm doing is taking potshots at members of one side".

Just so we're clear.

Could be nice, but then again, maybe not. I *love* watching as the various forum groups spout *********** in each others face. :innocent:

Regarding TOR:

No matter what the actual subscription numbers are, one thing remains: the game is not doing as good as the EA shareholders wanted it to. And that, regardless of what you may think, can become a potential problem for EA if they are not careful. For the one thing you absolutely just do not do as a company is ****** off your investors.
