I know there have been other theards concerning this issue, but I feel that titles like "Stuck at joining game" are misleading because getting stuck at the "joining" screen is another problem alltogether.

I am unable to join certain friends on MP either as an invitee or a host, the result is one of us gets stuck on the joining game screen. We even attempted to increase our chances to be randomly paired together by creating/joining what we thought might be an unpopular mission Condor/Reapers/Silver (it didn't work) lol.

Nothing works, the problem is not fixed like some threads have claimed in the past.

I usually wouldn't be bothered by something like this, but one of the PSN friends I can't connect to is my brother. I live in France, he lives in the US and we almost never get to see eachother in person, but we do love to play videogames together. Our latest adventure was supposed to be ME3 but because of lingering unresolved technical issues thats not going to happen.

*points finger in dramatic fashion* Shame on you Bioware/EA for keeping my family apart!!!!

ok thats it, please fix the problem.^_^

Same here. No problems joining random matches, but I can't join almost ANY of my friends' games via invite, and it's real hit-or-miss if any of my friends can join my games via invite.

One or both of you need to activate port forwarding.  To do this you need to set your PS3 to a static IP, then forward the following ports to that IP:

UDP 3659
UDP 6000
TCP 9946
TCP 42100
TCP 13000 -> 13100

The ports were gotten from this link:
help.ea.com/en/article/losing-connection-to-ea-servers

I did not initially have this problem, then I purchased a new router (because my old one was constantly resetting) and this problem struck me.  I set my awesome new router to always lease a specific IP address to my PS3's MAC Address, then forwarded those ports to that specified IP Address and the problem went away.

If this doesn't help you and BOTH you and the person you are trying to play with --- your brother, in the case of the OP --- are forwarding these ports then there is likely no other advise the community can give you, since this is the only solution known for this annoyingly common problem.

I guess however, by my own description above, an option (that I wouldn't actually recommend) would be to purchase a router of a different brand.  I'll tell you that I didn't have this issue with a 2Wire, but the 2Wire had the previously mentioned resetting problem (that is also annoyingly common amongst 2Wires).
