This isn't really a likely scenario. If EA were to go bankrupt, it wouldn't be overnight. It would be slow and gradual, something to be dealt with over time. When the call finally came, it wouldn't be a huge deal.

Be a happy man again, i've followed Bioware since 1997 and seeing EA act like d*cks it pisses me off.

I would miss many franchises.
Some of the big IPs would be probably bought by Activision, Ubisof or Zenimax, but I doubt it would be the same under different companies.

I wouldn't care as long as they unlock my games(SP) from Origin so I could still play them when I want too.

Doubt that would happen, just like I doubt it would happen with Steam games if Steam ever goes under. If a company is going bankrupt, the last thing they're going to care about is unlocking/removing DRM from games that they'll no longer have any control over.

This. Ea's evil reign coming to an end would be warmly recieved by my local peers and I... Perhaps some of the game developers Ea's dictatorial presence has ruined will finally be able to make a comeback! Ultima X anyone!?

This is about as likely as me winning the lottery, which I must say, is infinitely more appealing. Image IPB

Buy them out and rebuild their gaming empire under my banner - then I will do away with Origin, release games through Steam again, and concentrate less on appealing to casuals, focus on more stable "niche" markets, and give developers more creative freedom.

Also, nickel and dime DLCs will come to a swift end - if we want to release DLC, we'll release it in large expansion packs for a fair price.

After that, I will take the fight to Activision, Capcom, and Ubisoft and hopefully pressure them into scaling back on their DLC and/or DRM bulls*** because I'm stealing all of their customers by being reasonable to them.

That is, unless Nexon buys them out first - then you all will really be screwed.

Hmm if EA went bankrupt. I think I would build AE: Arts Electronics, bringing new games and rehashes people never wanted.

I would probably think for a moment, shrug and continue browsing the shelves untill I see something interesting. I'm... not exactly the type who gets attached to this or that company :3

Pretty much the same reaction as Atomic. Sure, there's the human element of people losing their jobs (which in a strange way is good in that they have a job to lose; contrast this with people who don't have jobs), but if as a consumer it means I won't be playing certain games...just carry on.

Some franchises may cease as we know them, but licenses will be picked up by someone else. Certain IPs may be gone forever, though other games will be developed.

Frankly, the fate of a publisher is of less concern than a developer though I suppose the question is supposed to imply the loss of the developers under the EA banner.

Pretend for a moment. That EA has decided to close their stores and fire off their staff. No more Dragon Age or Star Wars. As they are now forever locking in a bitter dispute. Where will you go? What will you do? ?

I will pee on its proverbial grave.

I would thank god that one greedy company is down and ask when the rest of the greedy people are going to be extirminated?

Beyond that i will keep doing what i have bin doing for the past 6.000.000 years.
Trying to understand humanity.

The hypothetical absence of EA would leave a void, which must be filled at some point. I can only wonder what greater evil will take the place of EA in that situation.

So, if EA goes bankrupt, are we saying that all of their divisions or whatever (Bioware, for example) don't have a chance? I would sigh, and go back to what I was doing. If companies did have a chance despite not being part of EA, I would cheer, and go back to what I was doing.

I'm pretty sure that made sense exclusively in my head.

If it goes bankrupt, all of its IPs and properties will be auctioned off and sold to the highest bidder. Assuming it doesn't happen during an overall gaming collapse, most of the games they're working on will still be made, but by different publishers and with a delay as things get tied up in court and dev studios reform under a different coporate umbrella. There will certainly be some vaporware, but their sports franchises, Dead Space and probably Mass Effect IPs will continue. I suspect BioWare would be broken but most of the people would probably end up in the same studio.

I'd probably say something along the lines of, "That's what you get when fail to respect your consumers." Though I would feel sorry for the lower rung people who lost their jobs and couldn't get picked up by another organization (execs get no sympathy from me).

I won't do anything in particular. I just hope we can still log on to all of our accounts and play our games. Probably not though. Sooner or later some gaming company/publisher is going to bite the dust, and then you'll see the real weakness of always-online DRM.

I would celebrate, and hope some of their divisions like Bioware would be taken up by companies like CD Projekt. I would feel bad for the thousands of low level employees, and I would hope that they would find new jobs in the future, but as for the fat cats in charge, it's time they experienced unemployment and the real world instead of their cosy lifestyles.
