When did you think the game began going downhill?

Hmmm...I'd say with that first intro of Shepard and the large amount of auto-dialogue and the dialogue wheel that lacks a middle option. Yeah, that made me worry, when you neuter the best gameplay mechanic development in the last five years, you need to worry.

Around the part on the Cerberus HG when Vengence or whatever his name was started talking about how the Citadel had been moved. Then the game started to slide headlong into the suckage hole.

Priority: Earth was when I knew it was going seriously downhill.

No, certainly not the best.  However, if they're going to use auto dialogue, it should correlate to the P/R of the character.

I loved every bit of it except the ending. You guys can talk all you want about those fetch quests and being forced to play multiplayer and what not but I still loved the game as a whole. For me the downhill part was when the starprick uttered the words "I am the catalyst."

Well if my "ending sucks" opinion "doesn't count" then i have no respect on your opinions tbh.

I feel the entire game was incredible, i played it on insane difficulty from the start as always and it was just amazing and intense the entire way through.
Even when up on the citadel at the end the conflict with TIM was insane.

I felt deep emotions on the ending clip the first time round, i was confused about star child etc and like...the actual ending closure which was a horrendous fail but up until shepard passed out i was ok.

To me, the very first half of the game was amazing, until after the Menae mission. That's where I believe the game began to slowly nosedive. It wasn't until the Retake Citadel mission where I was completely disgusted with the game. Why the Retake Citadel mission you ask? Because it became a predictable mess of rushed, wasted potential. There were no unexpected twists and turns that the first two games had, none of the love or attention to detail like the first two games.

I have to agree. Cerberus attacking the citadel was a great idea that does actually make sense. And I personally jumped up and down for joy after I found out I get to shut up that annoying Udina. xD But that's about it. There's nothing plot wise hinting towards it, (like, Hackett making a comment in one of his calls to Shepard to watch out for increased cerberus activity in the areas near the Citadel or something would have worked) so it's kind of weird to go from kicking ass on Tuchanka and all of a sudden you have to save the citadel.

But the point where I realized that the game quality went down the ****ter, is when I unlocked most of the side missions. I was seriously shocked to see that they were all just bs fetch quests and short 10 min tasks, and 2 REAL side missions. (grissom academy and the monestary) Both of the previous games easily had an extra 15-20 hrs in side missions alone, so I did have a WTF moment when I realized that ME3 had *maybe* 5 hrs of side missions.

I think it was good right up until anderson died. After that it just went downhill really fast.

The first time i shut off the game, which was somewhere on the Citadel during my first visit, i was dissapointed that despite promises it still remained a linear shopping mall, and decided to look back on the intro.

The trilogy is a mess, if you ask me. Most people here seem bend on criticizing only the third game, but the mess started a long before that. Like in ME2. Even ME1 has moments that dont make sense.

Yeah sure, of course it did, but the real difference is Willing Suspension of disbelief, Willing being the key word, all the ME games have had their flaws, but have got the majority right so I at least was willing to put aside any doubts in order to enjoy the games, the last stages of 3 coupled with the train-wreck ending where so dissapointing for me that i lost the will to do that.

Actually, Liara's info terminal shows that activity has increased at the Citadel Relay by 95% right before the mission. Most people assume this is the influx of refugees, but you know what I'm getting at.

As soon as Anderson made the joke about Shepard getting fat.

*Impostor alarms blaring*

Shepard isn't one to sit on his ass eating pizza when he just blew up a solar system to slow down the Reaper Invasion. Kept going down from there.

The beginning. I have a thread that explains this. However, I'm too damn lazy to get my bloody ass up to attempt to give you the link.

I felt a bit of unease when I saw that the face wouldn't import.
That was quite pathetic, that should have been the first thing they should have gotten right.

The intro was quite weak, it was only until the Mars mission that I felt the "It's so good to be back!" vibe.

I suppose it was Thessia when I saw Kai Leng just suddently won the battle despite me hosing him down with bullets. At the time I thought it was a non-standard game over as Mass Effect has never pulled such "Ha Ha I win scenarios" before.
Also thinking about it, how does TIMmmy know about the temple in the first place? I thought it was established that only the top ranks knew about the temples secret. Then again it doesn't matter to Cerberus' OMG traitors! That would have been a good time to reveal a traitor in the Normandy crew or show that they installed a bug on Shepard when they were reviving him.

Gonna have to disagree there. First thing should've been thinking out the story, above and beyond all else.

Honestly, the very beginning. As soon as I found out that Shepard had been hanging out on Earth doing nothing while the Reapers were building an army in Batarian space, I was like:blink:

This is, after all, the same Shepard that escaped from lockdown in the first game to save the galaxy from the reapers. If the game was going to start 6 months after ME2 with Shepard on Earth, he should have been in handcuffs and beaten to a pulp, because that is the ONLY way MY Shepard would be waiting on Earth instead of fighting the Reapers.

Exactly. It makes less sense if you played Arrival DLC, and you just stopped the Reapers who were minutes from entering the relay. What was the point if you were gonna wait 6 months doing nothing, allowing the Reapers to enter the next closest Relay?

The end, serouisly enjoyed myself up till then. Now i look back i can only see the faults and all the positives are nullified by the ending.
