I've been trying for so long to find somewhere in BSN to enter the serial number of Mass Effect 3, but when I choose  'Click here to register game' I get:

'Your ownership of Mass Effect 3 was not detected. You are most likely logged in to the BioWare Social Network with a different account than the one you are using to play Mass Effect 3. Go to Your Registered Game Content page for more troubleshooting instructions.'

I've read these 'instructions' but it's like a maze there. Isn't there a step-by-step guide as to how I am supposed to do this? I want to write in the other sections of the forum.

Edit: A probable cause for Xbox 360 users not managing to register their games could be the fact that you have another profile that is linked to the e-mail of your account here - make sure that you're using that profile and fire up Mass Effect 3 and go through the registration steps of the EA Servers and the game should register.

Welcome to the club.

A lot of people are having this problem. EA/Bioware does not care. You are stuck posting on only the main forum despite having paid full price for a new or preordered game. Oh, and the really hilarious part is that the technical issue of not being able to register the game locks you out of the subforum set aside specifically for technical issues. Image IPB

Are you for real?... And here I thought things couldn't get any worse. Isn't there a chance that some moderator will show up and say what we're all supposed to do? I've got the serial number, but all I can enter is a "promo code" that is something different.

You'll get told to post in the appropriate forum (LOL) just like I did, and get referred to help.ea.com, which isn't any help at all. After not figuring out how to fix your problem, you'll get the same "I'm sorry" that everyone else gets.

The new registration process, the errors associated with it, and the inability to fix it are pretty much a joke. But it is a joke we are stuck with unfortunately.

If you are having trouble registering your copies of the game, you can try these steps: http://social.bioware.com/page/account-help

Considering the nature of this issue, I find it delightfully ironic how the technical forum is locked for those with their copies unregistered.

Or sometimes if you're like me and others, there is no way to register your game.

I for one spent about a week of email tag, and 2 lengthy phonecalls with EA customer service only to be finally told that there is no way they can help me without breaking my gamertag and taking away every DLC I've ever purchased for every game resulting in me having to buy all of them again. WHY can't we just enter our code directly onto the forums like with every other game in the past? I hate being stuck in the kiddie pool -_-

I've got the same problem. It can be caused by not having an online account linked to your game at all, as it is in my case... or just using an online account that's different from your BSN username, if I remember right. I asked about this issue via PM, and unfortunately, there's no way around it. Players who don't use an online connection with their game can't register to post in the spoiler forums.

Maybe someone should just make a group for non-registered game owners to talk about the spoilers. Image IPB

^this.  Me too.  Tried everything...it's all BS.  More crap from EAWare making me shake my head at this whole ME3 fiasco.  I mean I was able to register ME2 and DA O, why so many friggin hoops for ME3?

I dunno...I really wonder what the hell is going on at Bioware.  Don't they realise how much they are alienating the people who buy their products?

Why have 90% of the ME3 forums locked to registered owners anyway? What's the point? Especially considering so many of us are having a problem registering the game.

I loaded up my Origin, made sure that the Origin ID corresponds to the one shown on my user profile in BSN, and typed the serial code of Mass Effect 3 there. It still didn't work, and even though I waited for quite a long time, I still couldn't get it registered by clicking on the 'Click here to register your game'.

After I entered Mass Effect 3 once, though, it must have recognized that I actually own the game, since a lot of new information appeared on my Origin profile, and the next time I pressed 'Click here to register your game'  I got the 'Game registered!' response.

No idea. Especially the troubleshooting section. It makes no sense for it to be locked for players who haven't or simply can't register their games because of the sloppy system.

Same here. It's pretty infuriating. You have one forum to post in, and if you want to join in conversations anywhere else, tough luck.

And it's a forum where you can't actually talk about the game (the majority of the game is its story, and people are supposed to keep it spoiler-free).

I tried contacting EA support about merging my Origin and my BSN account twice. After that I gave up. Both times I was told that what I asked for wasn't possible at all, until I presented them the same link Chris Priestly has posted. After that I successfully proved to them the Origin account was mine, but failed to prove my ownership of the BSN account I was even logged in at the time.

They asked for the email addresses associated with the accounts (unfortunately different) and then for my date of birth. I've been told that for the BSN account they had a different date of birth than for the Origin account (which is my birthday), which I couldn't really believe. But as I had now idea where I could look up that information and they couldn't tell me and wouldn't give me another option to prove the account was mine I just politely ended the conversation.

I'd have loved to be able to discuss ME3 in the restricted forums, but since I couldn't and can't there is little interest left to do so by now. I'm far from being the only one with problems registering their legally purchased game, and as long as this isn't fixed we will have far more spoiler discussions in the general discussion than neccessary.
