And what the heck my game is suddenly registered O_O

What happened?  How did you get it to work?

I didn't do anything, I just pressed "register game" like I have many times before and instead of saying "ownership can't be detected" or whatever it usually said it just registered the game. I haven't done anything new since the last time I clicked register so I don't understand. Image IPB

~shrugs~...I tried again, still the same nonsense.  Lucky you!Image IPB

Well, I guess you'll be catching up in the other forums now that you are able to.

Same problem here. And yet for some reason I can register it for the ps3, and not the 360? THE SYSTEM THAT I OWN THE GAME FOR?. Wtf Bioware.

Yeah, go figure. I have a 360 as well.   EA/Bioware says I have a PC account and I can register there. I don't understand.  I have never registered a PC game...I have never played a PC game on line and I have never played 360 on line.  ~shakes my head~

Bioware, can you please try to fix this problem.  And don't refer us to the link that Chris Priestly and other Mods suggested in similar threads.  As you can see by the posts by the good folks who have similar problems, those links are useless.

Very few of the EA help people know that they are the authentication front end for BW forums. You have to call by phone, and insist. If the person you get does not know this is an EA issue, you have to get a supervisor. If you let it go and hope it resolves itself, it might...but won't work for some. You're lucky you could post at all on forums.

Thanks for your suggestion and concern .458.  Many have tried calling and emailing EA and this is typical of the response from them...

" phonecalls with EA customer service only to be finally told that there is no way they can help me without breaking my gamertag and taking away every DLC I've ever purchased for every game resulting in me having to buy all of them again."

So you see, that avenue is pointless.  My only hope is that someone from Bioware will see these threads and rectify the situation.  But then again, it seems that no one is listening.

It's called breach of contract. If you were told this by the first level help  person, then they are only showing their bad training. This is why you insist on talking to their supervisor. What they say is not acceptable. You do not have to do what you are told by someone who is poorly trained. Also, they are WRONG.

You are very correct, sir.  It is breach of contract.  I think I will forget about trying to deal with EA customer service drones and contact head office itself.  The fact that many can't register the games may seem like a small problem, but they have taken my money and wont allow me to download a product I have paid for (the soundtrack). and the possibility exists that I would loose all other DLC I have purchased and would have to buy it back again is basically thievery!

I only want to know: upon starting the game for the first time, when you get to the main menu, are you prompted to enter an email address and password or does the game automatically sign you in? If it's the latter, then that's worrisome and I will wager it is the reason so many people are having this problem.

It's the latter. You'll be entering an e-mail address and password in your Origin, not in Mass Effect itself. That's one of the many confusing things that can just go wrong in more ways than one and ultimately not allow you to register your game properly.

Bump.....we must be heard. Why won't bioware give us a real response about this instead of giving us a link to that whole "merging accounts" thing which doesn't seem to work?

Well now, that's disappointing and a poor design decision. Although my gamertag is correctly linked to my Origin account (i.e. this one I'm posting from), I remain skeptical that it might log me in using the email address associated with my gamertag and not EA account. If that happens, then I'm officially screwed thanks to a ****** poor design choice that shouldn't have gotten past the first testcase.

Mine is working now, too.  It didn't work when I used the link next to where it told me I couldn't register.  But just now, I simply went to Games>Mass Effect 3>Register Game>Mass Effect 3 X-Box 360.  Worked just fine...

It's just a way of getting more money out of people. Typical EA.

Seriously, why can't they just let their fans post in the spoiler sections?

Come on, Bioware. Be cool.

You guys got my hopes up with this "instantly registered" thing. Image IPB It didn't work for me. I even tried clicking on PC and PS3 just in case (I don't have a Mass Effect game for either of those systems), but no. Oh well, I'm glad it worked out for some of you. Enjoy the spoiler forums!

I'm curious as to which hardware platforms people are using, as I have read several posts and and few, if any, even mentions this.

Theoretically, as long as the game itself is properly registered so that you can play it, you should be able to register it in the forums, providing that the e-mail address used to register the game and the e-mail address used for your BSN accounts are the same (at least that is the way it works with Origin for PC users).

Both myself and "the Sarendoctrinator" are on X360 without an internet connection so not connected to Xbox live

I'd also like to add that game registration is not required to play, at least on an Xbox with no internet connection. If this was not the case, I wouldn't have been able to play ME3 at all, and probably would have ended up returning it out of frustration. Luckily, all I have to miss out on because of this are parts of the forums.

I'm in the same boat: 360 sans internoodle.  As an OT, my fear is that the next gen consoles will require an internet connection.

Considering the nature of this issue, I find it delightfully ironic how the technical forum is locked for those with their copies unregistered.

I've thought about that too. And considering my terrible luck with the internet, it's a bad sign. :(

I'm stuck in a similar situation and unfortunately I've been trying with EA support but i can't register my copy of ME3, i just wish there was a serial number or something that i could enter so i could register like with ME2 would have solved my problem.
Instead i can't post in alot of these forums and it's driving me crazy.

It's so weird, I tried everything for two months and suddenly...I don't know maybe there is a mod sneaking around doing it manually? But that doesn't make too much sense >.<

That would be awesome. If any mod wants to help me register ME3 to my account, I'd be happy to tell them the code so they know that I do own the game.

I am still trying as well, glad you guys managed to get it working for you.  Must be the Space Magic.

I am going to give it awhile longer and if still isn't resolved I will be contacting someone far above the Customer Service level.  My "account" is being mis-reperesented and they have stolen my money by not allowing me to download the soundtrack which I paid for with the purchase of the CE.

EA/Bioware's innaction and apparent disregard for this matter is inexcusable.

Does this problem have to do with whether your EA account has your xbox live gamertag linked to it? Because though i have played EA games before on xbox live, my gamertag is not showing up linked on my EA/orgins account. Maybe it has to be linked in order for to be able to register ME3. I just don't know how to link it (add it to my Console Personas).

I'm really not sure, but judging from some of the comments, that may be your problem.  My Bioware info matches with EA info and I can sign in both places with the same user name and password.  The account thing is so obtuse that I just don't know what to think. Surley though, someone should be looking into these problems but no one seems to be listening or offer any kind of advice except to refer to links that don't offer any solution.  ~shrugs~

As someone who has yet to play the game, I must say I'm rather worried about this considering the number of people who seem to have the issue.

If it's the latter, then that's worrisome and I will wager it is the reason so many people are having this problem.

The thing is I changed the email address associated with my gamertag two months ago, so I don't know if ME3 is going to detect that new email address or my old one (which is what I use for EA and Origin stuff, such as this forum - it is also the account to which my GT is linked). I fear it might detect the new one and the game becomes locked to that email address, effectively creating a new EA account.

If anyone can fill me in, that'd be most appreciated.

The EACoreServer.exe runs with the game. The Origin.exe runs at all times once started. Origin.exe does the email address and password, and never goes away, unless you reboot (though you could set it to run at start...don't do that). So if you exit MassEffect3.exe, eventually EACoreServer.exe goes away, but your login and notification to friends list and network traffic and so forth continue. This is also why exiting and restarting the game sometimes does not help fix anything, especially authentication. Use the 3 finger salute, ctrl-alt-del, go into task manager, and kill process tree for EACoreSever.exe and Origin.exe if you really want to restart it, especially if you have login issues.

BUMP

And, an update on my quest to register my copy of ME3:

So, I searched google for "search xbox gamertags on ea/origin," in a forlorn hope that it could put me on the right path. And I found this... https://help.ea.com/...r-if-its-linked

It pretty much states that, when trying to log into your EA/Origin, click on "Forgot Password," where you have the opportunity to choose Account Type, such as Xbox LIVE Gamertag or PSN ID, to get your password back. Its a useful way to see if you have your gamertag connected to any Origin accounts. So, I put in my gamertag and clicked continue. However, this is when the confusing part comes in. Like most sites, when you forget your password, they send you an email to fix this. But, the screen said...

An email has been sent to an netzero.net email address.

THAT IS NOT THE EMAIL ADDRESS OF MY XBOX LIVE!!!! mine is a windows LIVE Id. What is netzero? Why does it show this as "my" gamertag email when it is not? WTF did you do EA???
I think this is the main reason why I cannot connect my Xbox live with EA/BSN...and I don't know how to fix it!!
