An email has been sent to an netzero.net email address.

THAT IS NOT THE EMAIL ADDRESS OF MY XBOX LIVE!!!! mine is a windows LIVE Id. What is netzero? Why does it show this as "my" gamertag email when it is not? WTF did you do EA???
I think this is the main reason why I cannot connect my Xbox live with EA/BSN...and I don't know how to fix it!!

So is it possible that EA has emailed someone else at this mysterious "netzero.net"  your account information? Doesn't  that violate some sort of privacy law?  I'd look into that if I were you.  There is a possibility that your personal information may be compromised.  Have you ever provided any credit card information to EA?

Just another example of this really STUPID registration fiasco....a complete idiotic process and requirenment.  And still, is anybody listening?  Does anyone at EABioware even care?   Nothing from nobody indicating that EABioware is aware of this problem, except for Mr. Priestly providing a link which does not help one bit.

Sadly, the disregard for their customers is something I really didn't think was possible.

BUMP

And, an update on my quest to register my copy of ME3:

So, I searched google for "search xbox gamertags on ea/origin," in a forlorn hope that it could put me on the right path. And I found this... https://help.ea.com/...r-if-its-linked

It pretty much states that, when trying to log into your EA/Origin, click on "Forgot Password," where you have the opportunity to choose Account Type, such as Xbox LIVE Gamertag or PSN ID, to get your password back. Its a useful way to see if you have your gamertag connected to any Origin accounts. So, I put in my gamertag and clicked continue. However, this is when the confusing part comes in. Like most sites, when you forget your password, they send you an email to fix this. But, the screen said...

An email has been sent to an netzero.net email address.

THAT IS NOT THE EMAIL ADDRESS OF MY XBOX LIVE!!!! mine is a windows LIVE Id. What is netzero? Why does it show this as "my" gamertag email when it is not? WTF did you do EA???

netzero.net is someone else's email address. Call them on the phone and change it back to yours. Probably they messed it up in their database, which had a lot of accounts unable to authenticate...not the email address in particular, but their bad authentication database is a real disappointment. Be glad they don't use this for air traffic control.

Since people are not going around selling these accounts for thousands of dollars, most likely they have a bad SQL query in their database. It happens. I've worked on these queries for financial transactions...big ones (terabytes)...and you have to test things before committing. Most often you have some sort of ID table that is cross referenced to other tables, one being the email address. During amateur hour, it is possible to update tables such that it gets the wrong relation between tables, and you suddenly become someone else. Since EA/BW does not consider this critical (it took them a few attempts to fix mine, and they simply assumed it was fixed each time without knowing), I doubt they test before committing. The alternative is that they store it in ordinary file formats and the files got corrupted, but this is too much data to store that way, especially with its fingers tied to everything else.

Understood, I think.  Regardless though, some sort of error was made.  And it still points to sloppy system.  And we are still unable to register our games.  And those of us who bought the CE are still unable to download the soundtrack... a product we have paid for but EAWare will not deliver to us.

ANGER!?  This is the only ME3 forum I am allowed to post in.  I am the legitimate owner of the Collectors Editon yet even though I paid extra money for extra goodies, the stupid, faulty, sloppy registration process denies me access to anything.  I can't post anywhere else and I cannot download the soundtrack, which I have paid for.

I think I found a solution to register my ME3, which I believe would be easier than trying to switch my email address or go through another hour long session with a EA guy who has no idea what to do.

I have another windows live account, which means another Xbox live account as well, which I really only use for Dawn of War II on PC. So, following the same thing I did for my ORIGINAL xbox account (the one with the ****ed up email), I put this new gamertag into the EA/Origin forgot password search, and EA has not account on file.

So, if a BSN account is a Origin account, this means I would have to create another account on this site (I don't care if it means breaking the rules...fix your damn registration system then EAware), using the same email address associated with this new and unused account, then play ME3 (either before or after I create a new account)....it should connect. Am I right?

This new BSN account would just be used to post in the "Spoiler forums," nothing more. Would love to hear some input before I try this.

This thread deserves to stay on the main page.

The new registration process is a complete and total mess. I've lost hope for this every being resolved for Mass Effect 3, but it should at least be fixed for DA3 and any future Bioware games. Either fix it so that players can easily edit and update the email address associated with their Live & Origin accounts, or go back to allowing players to register games by the old fashioned way of manually entering the code on the back of your gamebox.

It is bullsh_t that players that preordered ME3 are locked out of other forums and any future content that might be linked to ownership of Mass Effect 3.

It might Spifire but I really don't know ...perhaps someone else can advise.  Perhaps you can find a mod in the tech  help forum (I know we can't post there, but you can see the mod names in there somewhere.) and PM one of them.

The problem is that the instructions for this registration process (which is still ridiculous) are also a mess. They did not help me at all. I tried everything, but instead of a clear-cut guide as to how I can register the game, possibly by using steps, there's a disarranged FAQ instead that only confuses. Pure luck is what's needed to successfully register the game. It's a nightmare, really - and I don't understand why it's necessary.

For a long time, I could not even post in any ME3 forum at all! Not even help! And the EA guy wanted me to post on the ME3 forums for help, he thought it was my fault. Finally I got through to someone who asked, and found out that EA controlled the authentication bug, and that they were "working on it", "to be fixed in a few days". ROFL! This was a start, and after about a month of calling, convincing someone at the help desk to ask other people, and always hearing "it should be fixed already", it finally got fixed to where I could go to BW forums and not get redirected to EA for help, but be denied because I was asking for help on a game I did not have which was wrong which was EA's fault. Phewwww! Oh, for an actual bug of any kind to reach BW, it has to be marked "resolved" at the EA end...so YMMV as to whether this is the circular file or not.

Haha! Just because you registered successfully does not mean anything will work! Or that you can reach the forums :P The pure luck is accurate. Actual game issues? Hope you believe in God.

The Origin application is a login application. The login database that says whether you have a game and belong on a forum or not is at the EA side. This talks to the BW social network. If the database does not register that you have the proper game to log in to the forum, it won't work. For me, I got to where I could play multiplayer, but NOT log in to ANY BW social network...at least I could not post, they all denied permission. It might get you a step closer. Might also nail another nail in the coffin.

That is why I don't want to go ahead with this "experiment" right away. But since this unused xbox account has not connected to the EA database at all, I think it has greater possibility for success than trying to get the EA guys to help me!

Probably going to talk to a moderator about it.

It is quite possible you are connecting to the EA database, but when EA talks to BWSN, you would be stopped from posting if the information in the EA database is wrong. Which was the case for me, as what was supposed to take a few days at most ended up taking almost a month. So it would probably be fastest to just keep calling and asking when the authentication bug will be fixed for you...and no matter what is said to try to weasel out of the help desk person talking to the people who work on authentication, do not take no for an answer. If need be, hang up and redial and keep insisting until someone owns up to it and talks to the authentication people at EA.

In one of the other threads in this forum (about the ending) fellow non-registrant TheRealJayDee warned the OP:

"You should not discuss spoilers in this forum. Mods are swinging the banhammer at people who do."

To which I commented

"Well for those of us who are prevented from registering their games, this is the only ME3 related forum we can post in so maybe the mods should be bit lenient towards us."

JayDee responded:

Well, I definitely agree with you, as I'm right there with you not being able to register. But let me quote a PM I recieved from a mod on this topic last night:

"If you post spoilers deliberately, you will be permanently banned."

Yeah, well... Image IPB"

So to add insult to injury, Bioware will punish us if we dare include spoilers in our posts.  Since this is the only forum we are allowed to post in, are we being censored now?  For their sloppy registration system?...Jeezuz!  This keeps getting better and better.

Yikes, permanent bans? Well, I've always been careful about spoilers for the sake of anyone who hasn't finished the game yet, trying to avoid certain topics or be as vague as possible, so now I'll just be even more careful. This is why I've been thinking a group might be a good idea. Spoilers are allowed there, and I know game registration isn't required to post in them. Just don't know what else to do aside from not discussing the majority of the game outside of PMs.

I've never downloaded any of the DLCs, so I'm not 100% sure how the system works, but I think it's the same for all of them. At least the registration problems didn't mess that up for everyone. Something about the soundtrack's download must work differently though if you could get From Ashes but not that. It's a shame they didn't just put that on a CD.
