There is something I still don't understand...if you don't have a Origin account (or even a BSN one for that matter) and you play ME3 for the first time, with a internet connection (through xbox-live for me), it automatically logs into the EA servers. Right? So does it automatically, using magic or something, create a Origin account for you as well? And how does it magically get your email address as well?

OMG this is so confusing. Just trying to process this...would like to hear a moderator's thought!

To the best of my knowledge, this is the crux of the problem - and the reason behind all the frustration.

To put it quite bluntly, whoever was responsible for this design decision should go back to school and retake Software Engineering 101 immediately. As I believe I've mentioned earlier, if you know anything about good software design, you'll recognize that such a thing shouldn't have made it past the first testcase.

100%. I can't believe that thay would overlook the possibility of:

A) a PC/Console having multiple Users... or
B) a User having multiple accounts!?

The oversight on letting you CHOOSE whom to sign in as is PURELY MIND-BOGGLING!

Remember, Origin was never actually designed to work in sync with EA and Bioware accounts. It was acquired by EA and tweaked after design. I suspect linking it up afterwards was a Heath Robinson job. No proper engineering methodology would have troubled the process I'm betting.

To post on the the Mas Effect 3 forums, beyond teh General Discussion forum, you must have your copy of ME3 registered. You can find information on how to register your copy HERE. If that does not work for you, you can contact our Customer Service people HERE.

If neither of those work for you, you can send me a private message and I see what can be done.

This is not ME3 game related, so it gets closed now.

Yes, I saw that ^ And it concerns me that this thread might be locked down as well. I hope not. It is, after all, ME3 related. It's not like we are discussing another game.

I think we should all take advantage of Mr. Priestly's generous offer of assistance. At least some one has had the decency to finally offer something other than a link to redundancy.

I hope it'll stay open too. I've seen a few threads about this problem, even posted a link to this thread in one of them and saw some of you guys doing the same in others. In a way, it's become the unofficial help thread for anyone who can't register.

I already sent Mr. Priestly a PM before this thread was made, and there's no way to solve my particular problem (no Xbox Live account to link here) with registration rules the way they are now, but he was polite and answered quickly, so I'd also recomment you guys taking that offer. Who knows, maybe it'll work out for some of you and you'll find a fix. :)

Me too, I have PM'd Mr. Priestly too and have exchanged a couple of messages.  He is trying to help but he can only point to EA/Bioware registration process.  It's become a real load of crap.

Welcome to the brother/sister-hood, Alpha.

Other than Mr. Priestly providing suggestions, no one in Bioware seems to give a damn that they have a twitchy, sloppy registration process.

I have been locked out for a while now, because I was far from home in the town the college I go ti is in. Coming home, I expected to register it just like any other BW game I have on this page, but no, because I happened to have an EA account I forgot about, BW couldn't associate my account with it.

I contacted EA support via their live chat and he -- the guy who responded -- have forwarded my request to migrate the PS3 association and when I asked about when to expect it, he said it was within 10 days.

Anyone else been in that situation and what can I expect?

It's just stupid, as registering PS3 ME2 on this site was very, very easy. Why change something that works just as well without hassle...

I had to fight with EA's horrid "customer service help" for TWO WEEKS via email and live chat and I still can't get my ME3 authenticated.

I play on 360, and Microsoft only wants you to use THEIR email system, so I couldn't use my email address that I use for everything else (which is yahoo). So after I bought ME3, but before I played, I went into my EA/BSN/Origin account, my PSN account, my Xbox account and switched all the emails to ONE hotmail account that I made just for gaming.

Booted up my ME3, played it. Came to authenticate it on the forums, it still says I can't. I check out my EA account, my gametag isn't listed. I do a "password reset" on my gamertag, it says it goes to a YAHOO email. Well that's impossible, because I couldn't put my yahoo email to my Xbox account.

Hit up EA's CS, saying my Gamertag is linked to an account when I've never used it, ask them to transfer it. After about 3 emails of being told the same thing over and over again, they give me a partial reveal of the yahoo email, which is *GASP* the yahoo email address that I used for that exact EA account before I switched it! I'm thinking a long time ago when you could still just add your "personas" to your EA account by actually inputting them, I tried to do so with my gamertag and it glitched because the email addresses weren't the same, but it's still tied to my account even though I cannot access it. I tell the customer service this fact, that these two supposed "separate accounts" are one in the same, I get the response of "This isn't in our records, an email change would show up". *facepalm*

So I'm like "whatever, what do you need to move my gamertag" and they tell me I need my date of birth, which, coincidentally, happens to be the same for both accounts! (gee, I wonder why?) So I give them my DOB, I get told it's not correct. Now I'm 27, I have no reason to lie about my DOB (heck, I even put in my correct DOB when watching game trailers that are rated M, which my husband loves to tease me about), so I keep telling them it's correct and keep getting told I'm wrong, I'm giving the correct year, but the wrong day/month. So I went back into my yahoo email, and guess what? There's an email that I had been holding onto from EA/Origin. What was it? It was a coupon they sent me that was good for a month. Why did they send it to me? It was for my birthday! What day was it sent? THE SAME DAY THAT I KEEP GIVING TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AS MY DATE OF BIRTH. *double facepalm*

So, I always keep my confirmation emails for various things. I still have my birthday coupon email. I have an email confirming my email change from the yahoo address to the hotmail address. I offer to forward these to customer service to prove that 1) the accounts are one and the same and 2) I'm giving the correct DOB. What happens? I'M IGNORED. I got extremely frustrated and gave up.

So I can't post in the ME3 forums at all anymore, minus this one. And since I only usually post in Companion threads and a few miscellanous threads (and the DA2 forum isn't that lively anymore), my activity has dropped to practically nil. Thanks a ton EA!

EDIT: Oh, this is hilarious. I just checked my email, and they sent me a response over two months after I put in my ticket, saying to call their help line. The next day they sent me an email saying that my case would be closed if I didn't respond in 4 days. That was about two weeks ago. Seriously EA? I faithfully checked my email a couple times a day for a MONTH waiting on your "one week reply" (and this is an email I only check every couple weeks), and when you send a reply two months after you said you would, I have less than a week to followup or my ticket gets closed? Stay classy EA. *rolls eyes*

Hmm, didn't notice this thread. I too am unable to register my game. I share my console and ME3 with my younger brother, who has the game registered to his account. Is there any way I can register it to mine as well, or is that not possible? Just wondering.

I ended up making an origin account a while back and the email I used for it was deleted...so guess what else? I forgot the password as well...but the 360 auto logs into it and that's what I use to play ME3. Why couldn't they make it to where you could just use Gamertags or PSN names for console users?

Get the contact information for their legal department. Do not take NO for an answer...and send the information to them. It falls under "class action", remind them of this. FYI, the help people are doing what they are told...talk to someone with the ability to respond in some way other than a script. Talk to someone smart enough to have the hair stand up on the back of their neck when things are wrong.

I had EXACTLY the same issue.

I contacted EAHelpvia email and they told me they'd get back to me in 10 days... after 14 days I contacted them again, so, they told me there was a backlog, wait some more... after a month I tried to contact them again and they just ignored me.

When I contacted them on SEVERAL different occassions via live chat, they just gavve me the run around until I went away.

A Mod checked things out for me, can't remember his name, and HE never got back to me!

An all-round professional cluster-f\\#@$%! of customer service... And to think: all they needed to do was actually  let us CHOOSE what account we signed in with!?!?!

You know, In my case I can sort of equate this to the following scenario:
Lets' say you order something from a retailer that promised a bunch of extra features.  You purchased from this retailer before without any headaches.

When you finally get the product you realize one of the featuures is missing.  You call their customer service dept only to be told....well you have to do this and this and this and if those things don't work, try doing that and that and that.  Still you don't get what you paid for.
Then they say well, maybe we try another thing but if we do, you might have to give back all the features you purchased on the other products you paid bought in the past.  And if you still want those features again, you have to pay for them again.  Then there is no guarantee that you will get your problem resolved anyway. Oh, and you have to prove who you are.
It would be at that point you consider this process a breach of contract and seriously look into legal action

My patience is gone and that may just be my next step.  I am seriously thinking about it.  But how do you fight the CORPORATION?  I'm just a little guy.  Perhaps some media exposure would help?

I have to give all of you credit for being brave and trying! I gave up at once. I just don't register my ME3 here. I have zero patience to bang my head to a wall with stuff like that, and some of you have been trying WEEKS.

Chylise: I had the same problem with EA and my birthday. They kept telling me it didn't match but I'm also 27 and would have no reason to lie about my age. Also they closed several of my cases but I just kept making new ones and calling them. Not that anything I did at the time helped, only a month after I have up did my ME3 randomly decide to register O_o

Go to wikipedia. Look up class action...this qualifies. They can run, but they can't hide...

I don't suppose this birthdays not matching thing could be a simple conflict between D/M/Y and M/D/Y formats (or even Y/M/D, possibly), could it?

Yeah, the date of birth thingy. I wanted to merge my BSN and Origin account, but no, they cannot do it because I cannot give them the right date of birth for the BSN account. Urm, I was quite sure it should be the same as that from the Origin account? No, no, it's different, give us the right DOB or we can't help you. Urm, folks, I am logged in into the account you say isn't mine right now?! Any other way to prove it to you? Sorry, is there any other problem we could help you with?

Ah well, this is all BS. If they want to upset some of their customers, so be it. **** this. Image IPB

The last time I talked to a EA guy, he also brought up my DOB, and he said it was wrong!!! I don't even remember giving them my DOB...was it apart of the registration for an EA account?

I'll be damned if I know. I asked this the EA guys, I asked it here at the BSN, never got a satisfying answer. I have to this day no idea where I could find the 'right' DOB on my BSN account, so I could give it to the EA guys instead of the supposedly 'wrong' one that is my one.

Sounds like a common data error...this has been a common failure logic for many badly programmed web/DB apps. Some even fail between 06 and 6...simple things. But EA has also related the wrong email accounts many times. Perhaps this is just another bad DB screwup like the use of someone else's email.
