My first encounter was as a human infiltrator soloing bronze waves.
Do you know how long it takes for an unleveled human infiltrator to kill one of those things with a mantis? Do you have any idea how much running is done?

My first thought was "Quick! Cycle up the BFG!" Then I remembered it was a Banshee, not an Arch Vile and just ran around using a lot of concussive shot.

Pretty much. I've only ever been killed by banshees during that stupid defend the missiles section on Earth. I'm far more likely to get killed by some random Cannibal or Marauder when the Banshee forces me out of cover.

When I first saw the banshee it made me think about the Arch Vile from Doom, a similar thought came to mind when I first ever saw the Vorcha in one of the games except it reminded me of Imp from Doom rather than the Arch Vile.
