I have a big problem...
I bought the collector edition and tried installing Dragon 2 times, but each time at the en of the installation (or extraction) it said that a data error has occured and therefore the installation failed.
So I downloand the directX, and the same thing happened.
Am I doing something wrong? Who should I contact?
Tried the EA website, but it's not very useful
Data error occured

Having the same problem, though mine comes halfway through the install (not sure where - wasn't watching the installer). I'm trying a third time now, watching the progress bar. If this doesn't work, I'll try copying all of the CD files to a desktop folder.
It's almost definitely a data corruption issue, just not sure where the problem is - DVD side, hardware or firmware side. Admittedly, I have an ASUS DVD-RW high speed, and it has been treating me well since day one.

I have the same issue too. The only stupid thing is that it would install on my old backup computer that has no power at all, but it won't install on my high performance gaming rig. It crashes at random times, sometimes in the extraction for the campaigns, sometimes earlier, sometimes later in the voiceovers. It's really annoying, I've probably tried to install it 25 times so far. It hasn't worked.
Would love some help here from Bioware.

Is it the multilanguage version ? I read someone had a wrong crc on a couple of sound files, which prevented the install...
He managed to workaround it though.

I am having the same issue.
I think it is VERY bad form that no one with ANY company affiliation has answered this or any of the other posts regarding this problem. I dont think im alone when i say there are not many things more frustrating than spending your HARD EARNED money on a game only to have it simply not install when you get it home.
This error has occurred on my computer at least 10 times and 4-5 different completion percentages. i have installed about 3 games in the last 48 hours so i know its not my DVD-ROM or HDD. Could someone from Bioware please tell me what is going on. Anything would be helpful.....like "we are working the issue" or "We have no clue what is going on but having your money helps us sleep well at night" Anything would be helpful.

I'm having the exact same issue. WTH
Read somewhere that DAO is not compatible w Vista64, is that correct? Is that even possible? It's not like Vista64 just hit the market...very disappointing. Oh well....lets hope this resolves itself soon.

Just wondering but what OS and service packs are you guys running? I was able to install on my Vista 64bit SP 2 with all of the latest patches. Have you tried updating Windows to see if that fixes the problem?

You could try copying all the files on the Disk to a folder on C:\\ drive and installing it from there. Otherwise get the retailer to replace the disk or borrow a friends disk and try installing from there untill you can get the disk replaced.

I've tried copying the files to my computer and still no luck and this is the replacement for my first disk. First time I got CE but they had none in stock to replace it so I just got the standard edition. It doesn't seem to matter and I have the error in the same place on both versions in the vo_english file when it gets to shale.fsb. I'm trying to install to windows xp sp3 with all min requirements exceeded so I can't figure what the problem is. I've tried about 10 times to install so far.

Same error .. I think the file on the disk is corrupt since it copies fine ... corruption only shows up when the files is uncompressed. Collector's Edition.
! C:\\Temp\\rebuilt.campaign_vo_english.rar: CRC failed in modules\\single player\\audio\\vo\\en-us\\vo\\ntb100cr_elf_female.fsb. The file is corrupt
! C:\\Temp\\rebuilt.campaign_vo_english.rar: CRC failed in modules\\single player\\audio\\vo\\en-us\\vo\\orz200_figor.fsb. The file is corrupt.
I was able to get around the problem and at least see the same by manually un-rarring the files.
