www.destructoid.com/mass-effect-3-makes-over-200-million-in-sales-227119.phtml

Kinda makes me feel irrelevant as a fan, I think I'm just going to give up all together. If they have all the money they need, why should they care about fan feedback?

Oh well, nice knowing you all, probably going to not bother with BSN anymore, if the game is a winner for EA, there's no point pressuring them to make changes or do anything to please fans.

No need to waste me time and effort. Guess I'll find an indie studio to fall in love with.

Edit: I don't want the game to do poorly ( I would love it to be successful - just with a better ending), but the fact it did so well, despite the ending controversy just goes to show we are in a minority, so why bother?

EDIT: OKAY OKAY, I'm being over dramatic, I'm not quitting BSN, but this certainly has an air of "being left at the sidewalk" - not on purpose, of course, as I have said before, BioWare does not hate anyone, but simply, the company has found a very profitable path, therefore I can't imagine why they would deviate now, if this really is good news for them.

Positive reinforcement works, they say. There isn't anything more positive then a fat wad of cash, I can tell you!

hahaha, oh well, good on them, I guess, just hope by some miracle this EC will bring them back to the ME roots.

They got fan feedback.  $200 million worth.  ME3 was a great game.  Start, middle, and end. :lol::lol:

Glad to see this game doing well despite all the whining on the bsn. There are those of us that do love it.

Praise the maker maybe now we'll have fewer of the same thread every time one drops below the first page ;)

Well I see what counts as trollbait these days.

By all means celebrate BioWare's descent into multiplayer action shooter mediocrity.
It'd be funny if it weren't so sad.

But that would mean actually adding something.

I devised a whole new ending, better quality than the junk we got.

Why would people want the game to do poorly? Lets face it, EA is pulling the strings. If ME3 does not make money...then forget any sort of quality fix to the ending. Wishing ill will on ME's sales is like shooting yourself in the foot.

The truth is, no matter how much money ME3 makes we don't know what EA's internal projections were. 200m could be short of what they were expecting...or it could be even more. Regardless, they see a highly profitable franchise that has felt an uproar over some elements of the game.

What would you rather fix- a game making you no money, which will continue to make you no money.... or a game that made you a lot of money, and could make you even MORE money off of future DLC once you fix the complaints.

I'm not saying I trust bioware/EA completely. I'm just saying that wishing badly is a bad bad call if you want some sort of change.

Quite a bit was the hype.  Most of the fans I know bought it before the feedback came out.  I think we've all wized up, and won't make that mistake again.  If they ever top this, it'll have to be due to a game that actually DOES deliver from beginning to end, becuase most people will be watching from afar, not buying outright.

This.

Also how is this surprising to anyone? We're talking about a $60 game that sold 2-3 millions units? Yeah of course it made around 200 million dollars. Did you know Michael Jackson used to be black too?

I'd post a reply to this, if I wasn't spending so much time playing multiplayer and buying packs with BioWare points.

Sorry, not everyone enjoys mediocre games with terrible endings. Especially if said games had the potential to be great, nay, epic. No, ME3 wasn't terrible. But as it stands now it's a 6/10, perhaps 7/10, and that is without counting the ending. It did some things right, but a lot of things very wrong.

What do you think you're proving by announcing you're wasting money on something so substanceless, other than the fact that you're irresponsible with your finances?

We should all feel like our opinion doesn't matter because ME3 is going to make a good chunk of change? I guess I am missing the point. It could make $500 billion in sales and it still wouldn't change my opinion about the game, or the ending.

Like many, many people, I pre-ordered, so my money is already in that total. My mistake. Not that I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway, but I would likely have waited the price drop or a sale a couple months from now.

This is something hipster-gamers need to get through their thick skulls. There are much worse things you could waste your money on. If someone wants to fund developers and unlock cool things in a videogame, which they enjoy and will gain more enjoyment from, shut up and mind your business.

Man.. you guys are dumb.. read the full article.. the sales were credited for making EAs quarterly earnings great.  Their quarter ended March 31st.  So.. those sales were mostly from all the fans that pre-ordered or bought at release.  The ones that had faith then.

They will never see that happen again after this.  And, if you really liked the ending.. then you never really played Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 - either that .. or you never did really understand anything in the game.  Super Mario Bros is probably one of your favorites.

The price has dropped in quite a few places by about half...
