Balance out rose-tinted positivity?  This place is a cesspit of negativity and you want more negativity?  Don't even pretend you are impartial.  I guess to you why have glass half empty when you can have glass completely empty and shattered on the floor?

If I was anywhere close to that negative I would've threw the ME3 discs out the window. I didn't. I can still play it despite all of its flaws.

I'm on my Seventh playthrough.  Only reason why I don't play it is because the Eragon equivilant writing for three games bores the hell out of me.

Every week has been better for ME3 than for ME2

Which means bsn is not indicative of how people really feel about the game

Wait, just 2.16?  That doesn't add up with the cost of the game and the amount Bioware sold in $$$

Does VGChartz not include digital sales?

Glad to see this game doing well despite all the whining on the bsn. There are those of us that do love it.

I loved it too until the end just the ending was so full of shiit that I really hope if the extendet cut is ****
Bioware will become bankrupt!

Please, the only reason retake mass effect happened is because this series is beloved by its fans. The only reason we continue to debate the endings, how to fix them and any meanings attached is because we love Mass effect.

If the ending truly killed the franchise for you, then you wouldn't be on the forums talking about it.

This reminds me of all the people who go on the forums  to tell people they are quitting wow. If you really quit then you  dont give a damn about the forums or the opinions of the wow players

Okay, that makes sense then.  They had ME3 projected around 2.8 (possibly 3 million) on the Nasdaq stocks website.

And yet in spite of the return they're getting, they're still listening to fan feedback and molding their DLC around it. It's as much a testament to Bioware's devotion to their fanbase as it is the enjoyment gamers got playing ME3.

The article didn't mention if it was 200 million dollar in profit. You have to consider development costs (voice acting included) and shipment.

Regardless, the game won't have long legs. Pre orders and initial sales is the only profit they made out of Mass Effect 3.

By the way, folks that are happy about the 200 million dollar. That number won't get much bigger any time soon. A game having long legs, will always > a game that sells strong to begin with, before everyone figures out that they've been had, by the useless critics, who are in the pocket of the publishers.

I would like to see your statistics from the future confirming that, and am curious as to whether you time-travelled into the future and brought them back or had them sent to you by your future self.

How many actual units has EA shifted?

Is this just revenue from the game sold or does it include micro transactions in multi-player etc?

This figure could be some what deceiving:

Is this units actually registered or simply the ones sold to retailers.

The 200mil could just be from the thousands of retailers who bought the game hoping to sell it.

Or the fact that the game is being sold at a massively reduced price.

Could be any number of things.

Remember there are lies, damned lies and statistics.

That's... a pretty significant difference.

I love how people are having such a hard time wrapping their brains around the idea that maybe other gamers don't hate the ending as much as the Retake group does.  Just tell yourselves they're too stupid/ignorant/aloof about the story to realize how bad it is and go back to holding the line, no need to stress over all this.

ME2 XBOX sales after 2 months: 1,466,351
Currently: 2,800,246 (almost doubled)

ME3 sales can go higher still.

Notably, PC sales for ME3 is nearly double that of ME2's PC lifetime sales. Multiplayer does make a difference.

Something in the article caught my eye. "Non-GAAP". Definition please:

"Computations used to report corporate income and earnings that are not defined by generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) are described as non-GAAP metrics.

Thesemeasures, including core earnings, free cash flow, pro forma earnings, operating earnings, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), provide useful financial information about individual companies.

But lack of standardization in these calculations, plus the potential for creative accounting, make it difficult to draw relevant comparisons among companies or draw meaningful conclusions from these statistics."

Gracias.

Back in middle school, kids seemed to dislike a lot more than they like. It's like a peer pressure thing or wanting to fit in. It's easier to say you DON'T like something without being made fun of than to say you DO like sometihng.

Kinda like how it's easier to destroy than to create, or how it's easier to criticise than correct.

OP: You do realise that people tend to buy the game before they play it? How can sales figures possibly reflect the customers' dissatisfaction? It just proves that many people liked ME2 well enough to buy ME3 on launch and that EA advertising worked.

In all fairness I've discussed the subject with a lot of people who backed up their negative opinions on the ending rather well, but I've also bumped into more than a few who simply didn't know what they were talking about.  I wouldn't say peer pressure is behind it, as this forum isn't a situation people have to put themselves in if they don't want to, but it certainly is easier to say you hate the ending around here than it is to say that you like it, and that I base on personal experience.

If ME 3 sells better than ME 2, that's good news. It seems that perhaps the sales of ME 2 and DA 2 were below the expectations of EA, so they decided to allow BioWare some more freedom to develop ME 3 properly. If so, that strategy seems to have paid off. Apart from the obviously terrible ending of ME 3, the game is an improvement in virtually every aspect over ME 2. If that now sells better, this will hopefully mean that future BioWare games will be less like ME 2 and DA 2 and more like ME 1 and ME 3. Of course I wouldn't mind games like DA 1 either though.
