We're not irrelevant. Sure it had a great launch, but sales have slowed and the sticker price is dropping quickly. The crappy ending and fan backlash is well known. They won't post big sales numbers next time around

Not to mention it sold so well on the back of ME1 on ME2.
I know I didn't read any reviews. I trusted BioWare and believed in Mass Effect, it was an insta preorder.

Never again, BioWare. Never again.
A more accurate sales figure might be the one for their next game.

Funny, I knew where that link directed before even clicking it. So predictable. And who cares how much it sells? Only time will tell if BW is heading in the right direction or not. For now I'll just wait and see if the EC provides me a better closure and then move on to something better.

Who cares how much it sells?  The people who get paid to make it.  And the real fans, who know that a game that sells well will have a sequel.  Can they continue the ramp up in excellents a la ME1 ------> ME2 --> ME3?  I don't know, but I can't wait to find out.  :happy::happy:

From your posts it seems that you're trying to incite someone into attacking you. Sorry but I will not bite. And I'm not a BW fan,  never was ^_^.

Yes people they are actually people that love this game. But i do not see how this affects us in anyway they have made the money not us. Shall we continue with our lives and maybe have a multimillionaire company in the future?...But one thing i have to admit....Casey should be super project-director...What a guy.Non stop working wish i had his resolve, even when things are not going well

This would mean that you're defintely the type who bought the hype.  It's cool to like thde game.  t's even cool to like the ending.  But, down this path lies total self deception. Down this path lies total denial.  In other words, those who spend tons of money and points in multiplayer have the most to lose by seeming foolish. PS: did you see all the icons under my name?  It's not like I am exactly a casual fan....

I enjoyed ME3 equal to ME2.  I like that it made a ton of money.  I've been smiling since I read that story.  It's good news!  I enjoy the MP too, it's fun.  IMO, this is a celebration thread for the long slow march of games away from the past and into the present.  :happy::happy:

If the games of the present involve Day-1 paid DLC, mandatory multiplayer, unpolished animations, nonsensical plot, and hiring of talentless gaming journalists as voice talent (while simultaneously not even bothering to rehire fan favorite voice actors), then I think I'd rather stay in the past.

Yes, we all got suckered by pre-orders due to our excitement. I don't think anybody is going to fall for that again on any game.

The thing is though games like Skyrim and COD sell 10 million copies. ME3 is small time compared to them. And don't expect the sales for ME3 to increase either at least not by a significant amount.

Not any game. Just any game by EA and or Bioware.

While $200m in sales is good (even if a substantial portion of that money came from goodwill - and preorders - built up by two seperate games rather than ME3 itself), I'd like to provide some perspective before anybody gets too awe-filled by the big number following the dollar sign.

$200 million is almost exactly the amount of money made by Halo Reach in one day, on one console.

If the game sales did not do well, there would not be a FREE extended cut DLC. If anything, the fact that Bioware/EA agreed to do anything at all even with making over $200 million, shows why Bioware is still one of the best at listening to its fans.

EDIT
EDIT: OKAY OKAY, I'm being over dramatic, I'm not quitting BSN, but this certainly has an air of "being left at the sidewalk" - not on purpose, of course, as I have said before, BioWare does not hate anyone, but simply, the company has found a very profitable path, therefore I can't imagine why they would deviate now, if this really is good news for them.

Positive reinforcement works, they say. There isn't anything more positive then a fat wad of cash, I can tell you!

hahaha, oh well, good on them, I guess, just hope by some miracle this EC will bring them back to the ME roots.

My argument is Casey is a hell of a project director,
Game came on budget.
Game was released on time.
Game had substantial amount of bugs(everything has bugs in games)
And the man managed to make a profit off it.
Please tell me this man is not good at what he does?? These were probably his objectives. The ending thing you can talk to the writers but this is casey's forte'. Coming from a software developer this is impressive

It means he's a good businessman and EA employee.
I'd rather play games made by game makers. Something he used to be.

I don't know about "listening" but they suck at "communicating".

Well I see what counts as trollbait these days.

By all means celebrate BioWare's descent into multiplayer action shooter mediocrity.
It'd be funny if it weren't so sad.

This.

Also how is this surprising to anyone? We're talking about a $60 game that sold 2-3 millions units? Yeah of course it made around 200 million dollars. Did you know Michael Jackson used to be black too?

Exactly, sells have nothing to do with ending outrage. Obviously people had to buy it to hate the ending.

I think the man should really consider a career in politics. It seems like something he would be good at.

Well, good for them. Seriously, as much as I hate the ending, I love the rest of ME3 and it deserves the success.

Exactly this, Dragon Age 2 was a serious let-down, SW:TOR is dropping subs and the debacle with the ending of Mass Effect 3 (I won't buy another EA/Bioware product until we get new endings) will make for a wonderful reception for the new Bioware game. Can't wait for them to blame everything on piracy.

Oh and, Hold the line!

Apples and Oranges.  Any bioware game takes commitment to play as you will most likely have to devote 30 to 40 hours of time to a single playthrough.  CoD is based mainly on it's multiplayer, something you can pick up and do for 15 minutes and then put it down.  Skyrim has tons and tons of content but it is a game where you can just screw around if you want so how much time you devote to it is up to each individual player.  ME 3 has done well sales wise especialy in comparison to it's predecssors.
