Throwing in my voice for 'can't play MP.' If either of my friends host, I get to the 'loading game' / communicating...then the communication stops and does nothing but sit there. I've tried every combination of turning on / off firewalls and internet connections and the like.
If I host, I can get in, but my friends then get stuck on the loading screen. I hope we get to see some kind of response / fix to this soon.

I've got this. I've tried everything I can think. EA/Bioware need to sort their stuff out, as I'm getting very frustrated at having to close my game down and start up to get the same thing. Sort it out.

I have exactly the same problem since one week.
Can't join any game (friends or random) and no one can join my game.
Of course I didn't get any reply from the "tech support"

Bumping this, Have the same issue, made a thread about it and no one answers.
Basically, I can't connect to anyone online and communicating to server gives up after some time.

Bump.
I was playing just fine until I installed the MP packs. I can barely ever join a MP game, and when I do, I am lucky to finish the match.
It is funny, I have absolutely no troubles playing any of the other 20 MP games that I have on my computer. Maybe I should just stick to them because it is pretty obvious that Bio/EA aren't very concerned about this problem.

One more for having this problem, one friend cannot join my games and I can't join his without the game stopping at "joining ..." after selecting your character. But both of us can join a mutual friend's game just fine.
Confirmed that router settings, process priority, and firewall do not seem to affect it.

Just an FYI, you don't need to close the game. Open your Origin overlay and select "Join Game" from the friend you are trying to join and it will cycle again. Then you can exit out at the character select if you're done trying to get around this bug.
Please Bioware. This needs to be fixed! Can you at least toss us a bone and tell us if/when you are planning to fix this?

Another weird thing, just now, I had this bug again, but while it was saying "Joining Game" I could hear the voice chat from the game in progress. When the "Communicating" went away, the voice chat cut out too. It's like it's starting to load the feeds to hook you into the game and then just...quits.

This happens constantly with me and my friends as well. We tried for a good half hour this evening before giving up. It would be nice to see a fix soon. It's very frustrating when I can't play with the people I want to play with.

It's increasingly annoying the connection problems.
Setting up a private lobby with your friends is an exhausting task.
A hosts, B and C join, but D cant. So B hosts, D and A join, but C can't this time and so and so on. Every time we quit the game and log out from Origin. That used to work before the last patch. Now, nothing seems to work if you don't make it the first time.... Kinda kills the will to play the game.

Exactly the same experience as the two last posters.
Playing with 3 friends is so difficult, many times we simply give up. It's a shame because we have fun playing but this makes us dread the thought of even trying to set up a lobby. Sometimes we play L4D2 instead just so we don't have to face more than half an hour trying the same tricks: now you host, let's quit origin, now let me try hosting, let's quit again, etc. because it almost never works as intended.
Random public matches work fine. This is about private matches with friends.

I've had this problem since the beginning, so I feel every single persons pain here. And after talking to numerous people, reading many threads and fixes I've had a break through..... of sorts.
First, let me explain the problem I've been having. I've never had the bad luck I did when I played PUG games. On the very rare occasion I would DC from them, usually on wave 10 or early wave 11.. leaving me frustrated when I wouldn't get my payout. My solution? Host all my own games... THAT problem, at least... fixed.
But my major problem was when I wanted to play with my origin friends. Me and another BSN member tried all the time to play together with very lacklustre results. We were both in Australia, with the same internet provider and package (I think?) so I didn't see why there should be problem with our connection to eachother. My only thought was that it had something to do with Origin.
When we played, we'd either get the joining 'hanging' screen, or on the rare occasion we could join, one of us..(who ever wasn't hosting).. would get DC'd. All the time, without failure. When I tried to play with another origin friend, (again in Australia) the same thing would happen. So what did I do? I followed this thread to change my DNS settings and also opened my ports for 6000 and 3656 (or was it 5659) for ME3. Did this help? No, it didn't. My friend and I still got DC'd all the damn time! I was really starting to lose my will for game.
Fast forward a few weeks and I met someone else who was kind enough to give me some advice for my particular router, more ports to open and basically 'held my hand' through the process. This is what I did.
1) I followed this website and opened ports for Origin itself. Note though, that this is for my type of router, but the ports are there and that's all that matters.
2) I then added the ME3 ports (6000 and 3659... (5659? I did both just to be sure.)
3) I then followed the above threads advice to once again change my DNS settings.
4) The guy that I was having trouble with caught me mid change and he changed all of is settings and ports the same as I did.
5) After using a port checker, it said all my ports were opened and working.
Now, he and I tried to play again. Imagine my suprise when.... I got dc'd... I facepalmed, hard
. But, I joined again and lo and behold, we managed to play together for game after game after game. Something that we had NEVER been able to do.
This isn't an outright, permanent fix. We still have problems joining eachother, but only every now and then. And when we do get into the lobby together, we can play without problems. It's a huge improvement over what we had before, and until EA can sort their **** out, it's the best we're going to get.
These changes have made it bearable for me to play now, and with the new DLC only days away, I need all the creds I can get
In short:
1) Open ports for both Origin and ME3. What can it hurt?
2) Change your DNS settings. Every little thing helps.
3) Make sure ALL your friends have done the same.
4) Check your ports are open.
I hope at least 1 person gets something helpful from this. Good luck, and happy playing.

I hosted a random game last night and was able to play for almost 2 hours without interruption. Then everyone in my game left the lobby at the exact same time and no one else joined even after waiting almost 10 minutes. So I think the connection problems still exist even when hosting your own random game.

@behrendt666 I had the same issue (only once or twice). My fix for it was to just rehost the game. I was then playing/hosting more games.
@AlistairsGirl I'm having the problem that when I try to join a game with two friends (they're on the same LAN), only one of them can connect. I'll try out your fix and see what happens.

@Mourne748 I try that but I still encounter problems. Sometimes I am able to host a random game and play for a few hours, then suddenly everyone leaves and no one else will join. If I rehost another no one joins either. It seems once I get the "communicating" message at the top of the screen there is no way for me to play unless I stop for several hours and try again.
Interestingly, I have noticed that a fair amount of the people I play with are from the UK (I am in US). Not sure if that really means anything I just find it odd that most of the people I am able to play with are from there.

Please bear in mind that there are a lot of us having connection issues, particularly if you go into the shop whilst in the lobby. It doesn't tell other ppl who are in the game that you are in there and so you are just stuck (if you don't have audio).
Best thing to do is go in on your own by creating a a game. Go in and buy whatever you r going to for that session (points depending obv). Then come out and go back in with friends/whoever. That seems to work for me.
Maybe EA/Bioware need to add a feature which tells people what you are doing. Some games do this and it is helpful instead of everyone kicking you out of your own game because it's stuck !!!

Taking out firewall and router and going straight to the internet is
most important for hosting. See if someone can join HIM when he hosts,
and when router and firewall are off, and directly connected to the internet...plug those appliances back in one at a time and test if the prior test worked. No matter what he does, if the
host doesn't have the right ports open and set up correctly, he can't
join. Once you know if he can host, you can move on to joining.
