Developed a new problem the other day. Went to play my game and the game saves have all disappeared from the game proper. Checked the BW characters folder and they are all there but aren't read by the game. I can start a new game and the new save will appear in the game. Only seems to effect old games.

Also have a problem with npc's having yellow bodies. They are equipped but all yellow. can provide a picture of that.

My specs:
Windows 7 Home 64 bit, 6.1.7601 Service pack 1 build 7601
Intel core i3-2330m CPU @ 2.20 Ghz 2200 mhz
6.00 RAM

Thanks for the help. Grandma is lost!

Indeed. The sticky Gorath mentions, if you follow it, 99% of the time helps you to fix your own problem or at least helps you give us enough information to diagnose with more chance of success.

Help us to help you.

Never mind. I'll solve it myself. I did what you said before and there's no reference to this problem. This is why I don't post here anymore. Thanks for not calling me an idiot at least

If you were playing on a console, you would not need to describe anything but what happened. PC gaming works differently. In order to attempt to diagnose PC problems, we prefer a standard reporting procedure. Perhaps you may be more temperamentally suited to console gaming.

Okay, I admit it, I am an idiot, Gorath and Shins. I didn't realize that all the specs hadn't made it to the post; it's missing half of them. Cut/paste issue or my idiocy. A nice young girl rear-ended my car recently resulting in a concussion and neck and back trouble. I seem to have also developed a short fuse, which is no way near the person I really am. I apologize for anything I said that offended. The Gods of the Bioware forum rule!

Here's what I know:
My older game saves have all disappeared from the game proper. Checked the BW characters folder and they are all there but aren't read by the game. I can start a new game and the new save will appear and be playable. Only seems to effect old games.
Also have a secondary problem with npcs having yellow clothes or armor. Suspect there's a missing or corrupt file maybe?

Specs:
Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition. digital
Downloaded from Impulse
Patch 1.05
Windows 7 Home 64 bit, 6.1.7601 Service pack 1 build 7601
Intel core i3-2330m CPU @ 2.20 Ghz 2200 mhz
6.0 RAM
Intel® HD Graphics 3000
Driver version 8.15.10.2361
1696 MB graphics memory
Speakers / Headphones (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)
Driver version 6.10.6324.0

It's a Dell laptop and comes in a black case too, if you're interested. The game has worked on it for 6 months without any trouble before this.

Reinstalling the game from Impulse solved a skin texture problem but Duncan's armor is still noble clothing and it's all yellow with the "Do not use" stamped on his chest. I can provide a picture of this if needed.

Again, thanks for putting up with Grandma and her mental lapses!

Not meaning to sound 'funny', but are you sure that the game worked well previously? Some aspects of your system are quite low powered for a game like DA:O. This may not be relevent to your saves problem, but even an unlucky uninstall / re-install can make weird things happen.

Anyway, there are a couple of other bits of info that could help. E.g. Do you use any mods? Some mods are notorious for causing more problems than they fix, on certain system types.

I actually think I found the problem. The game synched to the cloud and now it won't read the saves. I am currently installing the game on another, larger computer to check if they work. If not, then I start over. There was just one game I really wanted to keep as I wrote some fanfic with that character and want to revisit her in another work or two.
I uninstalled the digital version on the laptop and am using a disk with no problems. Actually, it always did work well. DA2 doesn't work well and I have to dumb down the video a lot to play. I use a 32 GB flash drive to boost the memory. This one hit me out of the blue.
Still working on that yellow armor thing. Looks like the game was not reading a file so it defaulted. Yellow isn't Duncan's color. Ugh!
Thanks for your help Shins. Head injuries are so annoying and you've been great about my idiocy. I'll let you know if anything works.

After another discussion with the folks on the Origin side of EA, I found that there are only about 10 games that have supported cloud storage through Origin, none of which are Bioware games. The fun part is that all downloaded games have the ability to activate the synch process and I think that is what happened. The synched started but couldn't complete because it was not a supported game. The result was lost saves. I suggest everyone check to see that their game is supported on the cloud before they enable it.
Oh, the yellow Duncan thing is solved, it was a bad game download. Works fine on the other computer and on the disk version.
Thanks again, Shins!
