As an infiltrator who does her job, i'd much rather you HOLD THE LINE! rather than try and do my job.
But let's assume i'm not an infiltrator, and i'm an engineer, heck we'll say that i'm the salarian engineer in FBW w/ geth, we have 2 infiltrators...neither of them, nor the adept wanna go get 'em. so they leave it to the salarian keeping them from getting shot at =/ i then get to solo the rest of the round after getting the objectives, yay teamwork!
As for mics, nobody said a mic can't be useful, even life saving at times, but...if your not an idiot, you see something behind someone, kill it. most people will catch on, even idiots. the krogan who did that, probably wouldn't have said something even if they did have a mic. i've had mob-droppers in bronze before, they get big guys following them, then they intentionally take it behind the rest of the group.
I'm not sure about you, but i'm constantly checking my flank, never more than a glance, but they're frequent. the entire team should be doing this, regardless of whether they have a mic or not, and if you're a geth, you should be doing it even more since you can see through those walls.

It'd make it easier for people who have a bad mic or can't speak english.

Chat? Maybe in the lobby. Other than that it's useless. Try to type "Two Banshees, on our six" without dying twice

Mics can be very useful, but it´s not mandatory: as Mystearen wrote, check your flanks constantly. That's the best policy.

My last Gold match we nearly lost because an Engineer or Sentinel, I forget which, decided to follow me to the objectives. They got themselves killed and got me knocked out twice. We won, but if they'd stayed where the other two squaddies were bunkered it would have been really helpful.

LOL yeah. I have gotten pretty good at blowing them up before an engineer can drop one kills engineer in the process. 2 birds with one stone.Still freakin hate turrets though. they set up by engineers in the most odd places sometimes.

but the phantom pisses me off
^likewise. phantoms ****** me off so much!
turrents aren't so bad, you just have to pay attention to the engineers. luckily salarian inf. take them out with drain/snipe. problem solved. then its on to reviving 1 or 2 people that just got taken out by it. always helps to have one inf. in the group. I like to take out the smaller adds and then act as a support and do objectives for the team.

^YES!
some people just never check their flank. this applies directly to thos that are "cover ****s". if you are going to hide in cover the entire match, drastically hurting your angle of view and you are an easy target for a sneak melee attack. staying mobile in gold matches and using line-of-sight always works for me, plus your flank is easy to see when you are constantly moving around.

Funny how you're badmouthing drelldept while playing a krogan sentinel yourself, something that many armchair tacticians on the forums would tear you to shreds for as well. Drell adept is awesome. If you can survive as a HM geth engineer, you can survive as a drell adept. Reave-grenade nukes whole spawns to kingdom come and gets a constant 30/40% damage reduction vs 2/3 factions.ToaOrka wrote...
The squad goal is actually surprisingly difficult if you get a team that has no idea what they're doing. For example, the two infiltrators on one of my teams thought it would be funny to make the Krogan Sentinel (Me) go and disarm the four devices. Later in the match, I let them bleed out, and beat the entire rest of the wave by myself. It's even worse when people choose the worst classes - Really people? Drell Adept on Gold!? Drell Adepts are bad enough on silver, but on gold they take like two shots and then die.
Still, once I found a team that knew what they were doing, the squad goal was a piece of cake.
Some classes just take skills to play, maybe you weren't rolling with the right ones. Packing on the pounds isn't everything.
you both make valid points, but you really have to learn how to play a character before you jump into a gold match. every character has its perks, or else it wouldn't be in the game. learn its strengths and weaknesses.

My N7 rank is 201. I beat almost every player I meet. Bronze is too easy and boring, silver is great warmup, gold seems to be the glove that fits. So I wouldn't pay that much attention to the N7 rank as I would to the class rank and weapon choice. I have met excellent players with low rank that I have enjoyed playing with teamwise, that knows their way around maps and have tactics, but I would personally either kick or leave lobby's with players lower than 10 on Gold. You simply don't have enough powers to support yourself, and you have to rely and leech on others to survive till extraction. One thing is teamwork, but it's one heck of a pain in your bum if you have to assist and revive that one player throughout the entire game because he can't defend himself, or cover his bum well enough...
If you're on there playing for pure fun, don't go on Gold with low levels, it will most certainly end up with you getting nasty messages.
This may be a newbie question but here goes, since I have promoted my class many times, how does one determine/calculate the N7 ranking? Hope we all get our packs - i was able to take down at least a dozen or so Banshees during the past Operation. Turian Rebel Out

If there IS something horrible behind someone else, instead of sprinting away, casually backpedal and fire behind the person. Trust me, it gets their attention.
Just sprinting away gives no real conveyance other than, "I'MMA GO NOW, LATER!"
remember if they're sniping or something, they may not be able to see you shooting back there.

for me it's probably Turrets, then Ravagers, then Pyros (on small maps) If I'm singling out one enemy. The most deaths I have are from a combined effort, or some stupid guy flanking me (or my idiot asari teammate using pull on a guy and then ignoring him so he ends up behind us if we're camping on firebase white....)
but yeah it's mostly a combined effort from enemies. I definitely die the most trying to save teammates (i'm stupid like that). Surprisingly, Banshees are fairly low on my kill meter. I'm pretty good at taking them out before they got to me.

I have had my fair share of those who love the killing but won't get the next hack that's right next to them. I tell myself every time fine then I won't get it and we will lose. But I always get suckered in because I want those credits haha
I hate it when there's one infiltrator, and instead of getting the hack that's right in the middle of the enemies, he just sits around sniping guys and makes everyone else that can't turn invisible have to get it.

krogan sentinals are complete tanks, though. Most people don't like them because they don't have very productive powers, but they are a lot easier to survive with, and that can make them valuable when they're the last teammate up.
It entirely depends on skill and how well you play as a class. .The drell adept can be great in the right hands for people that know how to use it. Unfortunately it's a very hard class to use....

Right, because this sort of thing has never been implemented in any PC shooter before today... Yes, typing is often slower than talking, but not communicating at all is far worse.Zaidra wrote...
