I want to play this game, but it crashes after playing for about ten minutes. If I save, I can load it, and I'll get further, but I still haven't left the Endar Spire. I'm running Windows XP SP3, with a recent computer (so the specifications are well above the KotOR requirements, although it doesn't seem to think my video card with 1GB of memory meets 'recommended' specifications for some reason). I reinstalled the game, I have the 1.03 patch, I can't think of anything else to try. Does anyone have ideas?

Oh, and it's the European version (got it through Amazon, no idea why everyone online seems to only sell the EU physical version).

There has been a guide to reporting problems posted on top of the NWN-I forum for ages (the two games share the game engine). If you will follow it, perhaps someone can help. The greatest majority of computers produced since KotOR was new have all had nothing but intel video chips that just don't work. The newer the PC is, the less likely it is that it will have decent graphics in it any more.

I found a solution: in the swkotor.ini file, under [Graphics Options], I added:
Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1

SInce then, I've been playing for several hours with only one incident; it works much better. I'll keep in mind what you said about NWN, as if I play that I may need to do the same thing.

Thank you SO much.  I managed to get all the way to the end of Taris with this crashing issue in the way, but it was like pulling teeth.  The crashes did lead to some hilarious graphics bugs though.  For instance, in the cutscene that plays when you leave Taris, you see an empty suit in place of Saul, talking to an invisible Malak.  Played perfectly with the modification in place, though.  Thanks.
