As people who love RPGs, one of the most important aspects of the genre is to get us immersed in the world we play, its lore and characters. Gamers often like to relate to the characters they play, make them something else or just get lost in the world and the story that surrounds a particular franchise.
What RPGs did you guys lost yourself in the most and enjoyed the experience?
For me, they are the following:
Kotor 2: The Sith Lords
As a SW fan, this was the game that I was most proud of. The story surrounding the Exile wasn't heroic or about saving the galaxy. It was about searching for the truth in a galaxy recovering from a war, not knowing that another one was happening in the background. It had a lot of problems with such as a large amount of content cut from the final product (which can be put back in with a patch, for those interested), some bugs, Kreia etc... but I played it loads of times back in the day to a point where I knew every dialogue by heart.
Planescape Torment
The D&D style RPGs back then were really something. Since the announcement of BG EE, I went in and replayed PST and I remembered just how strong this game actually was.
The location and lore is what sets this story apart from the others. Its originality, characters and music make every conversation and important moment memorable.
Seriously, in what game do you have a floating skull, a succubus, a mage on fire and a half-demon follow you around?
It's also living proof that a sad ending can work if you do it correctly.
The most immersive RPG you've played
