DA 2, I was drowning in my tears by the end of it.
I meant every word...
Fair enough, but i disagree.
Yeah tears of frustration, disappointment ending finally with tears of joy when i uninstalled from my HD.
I thought you was refering to ending because the ending/game was good, turns out i was wrong about that

Elder Scrolls for me. Oblivion started it and Skyrim has continued it. In terms of world, politics, story, characterization, voice acting, lore et all it's the most engrossing.
Fallout Series a close 2nd. This is why Bethesda is one of my favourite game developers and producers. They make very grandiose games that suck you in.
An honorable mention is Diablo II: LoD. Diablo II sucked me in for different reasons as well. Mainly loot hording. I played that game for a lot longer then I should have because of the fun loot system.

I will never understand this admiration for Oblivion. Horrible, bland game. So bad it makes Fallout 3 look good, and that's an quite an achievement.

I've yet to play one that made me feel like the PC, short of some momments at least. Such as moral questions and the like.
But I'ld say FF7 and Legend of Dragoon are up there. Both I really cared what happend to the characters and the story, more so the later.
Both of the Recent Fallouts to me at least felt more like adventure games, it was nice to see things, kill them. But the story really didn't grab me as much as self amussement, minus ironically some of the DLC for the games.
Elderscrolls as in all of them fell more like interactive books, while not bad mind you, I just don't get deeply into them.
Now Kingdoms of Amular is one of the modern games I would list here minus two things.
One the choices don't matter or change the story at all, period. And Two the ones that you have to sit and think about which ends up being pointless are far and spread out.
Another would be Star Ocean, but its slow points and my own off and on play of it kills that one, though I do enjoy it a bit it doesn't grab me.
Frankly I get more Immersive gameplay in my various RTS's than pretty much any RPG thats came out post 2000.

Pokemon?
The Fallout series
DA:O
Earthbound
VTMB
Harvest Moon
Wizardry
Wasteland
I would have to dig back a long way into my memory so hard to remember them all.
I played a lot of text MUDs too.
