500 hrs is nothing to a hardcore player. Back on WoW I used to know ppl who would rack up 100 days playtime plus a year. A proper HC player could easy max everything bar promos inside 3 months. Even a 1 hr a day semi casual player with premium packs will be done inside a year.

But this not WoW, nit by any means.

One of the fun things about this game is trying out new builds.  In a game like WoW I might grind like a mofo for a unique item because it will make me 10x more the badass.  The effect would be noticeable, otherwise nobidy woukd do it.

What am I grinding away at in ME3MP?   The chance to finally try a damn Justicar.  Though I am just as likely to unlock lights on my Drell Vanguard.  Again.

And most gold PUGs are FBWGG which I don't hate but rarely in the mood for doing over and over again, so it isn't like I am dropping a PSP every couple of hours.

Eventually I'll get the Justicar, but in there's little joy to most of the loot drops in between.  At least in games like Diablo or WoW I might get something interesting instead of an ultra rare - as it is I,m liking shopping for a new pair of Drell shoes.

The end of the world.

Joking aside, I don't think reading your message will make them change the mechanics, but they'll probably drop by to give us exact numbers. Or so I hope.

I would exclude the Collector Rifle from the math here. Those who hope it will be included in packs are just deluded.
They won't include the Collector Assault Rifle. People who have it paid for it, and they won't even unlock upgrades in packs since there are people who spent hundreds of euros/dollars to get the merchandise needed to have it at a higher level, it just wouldn't be fair to them.

Hell, I have the Digital Deluxe Edition and I keep seeing threads about people who want N7 weapons and armor in SP for free, of course I'm upset, and I would be more upset if I paid 500$ for a Colector Rifle IV just to find out I could have just spent 10$ for the first level and used packs bought with game credits for the others.

From what I understood it was only available to 360/PC players who bought the dark horse comic thing.

Yeah the likelyhood of dropping n7 gear is pretty damn low. I have unlocked everythig except the last level of Batarian Sentinel Customization and have gotten some n7 gear but still not a single level on the BW or the Talon.

social.bioware.com/392685/&v=bw_games&game=masseffect3_pc&pid=221654556&display=multiplayer

And this is with probably close to 100 hours of mp played, half of that or more on Gold. I am pretty damn thankful that Origin doesnt seem to track nr. of hours played since that would make me **** my pants in terror concerning the amount of time I have wasted...

Still though I had fun, but now it is just the same over and over again, most of the guys I play with regularily play a round or two every couple of days when they are bored to death and cant find anything else to do. In other words we need to get new gear and maps, new modes and char's sooner rather than later or we will not have anyone playing mp. Finding a gold game already takes 2 times as long as it used to a few weeks back, getting a higher droprate on N7 gear could motivate some people to get back in for completions sake, but as OP states the likelyhood of anyone continuing to play once they have all but n7 gear unlocked is gettign slimmer by the day.

your sample of UR drops per packs bought is only 1. You can't make a sound projection off of that alone.

I have 15/70 URs, that's 21.4 % playing 2 whole months now, but only doing gold the last 30ish days and buying spectre and PS packs. So according to that I should have them all in the next 5 to 10 months. Furthermore I'm playing some 2 hours a day on average.

You need a great deal more of us to share our N7 cards count and playtime/credits spent to make a viable projection.

Do promotional weapons even come in purchesable packs at all?
Character cards are rares not ultra rares.

The issue there is that premium packs are not always there. I have only once dropped an UR in those packs and I have no way to prove they are better. Do they give a chance at Ultra rare 2 times I do not know.

365 hours is still only 71% of the target.

Maybe it is more the life span of the MP game. I don't believe it will last 1.5 years. There is indication of new MP DLC but unless there is something new and free (ie game mode) and not just additions to unlock, then the game play required to get 100% of everything would always increase.

You can pull 2 UR's from a PSP. I've done it before.

I just wanted to note that though I don't know how it's handled with PC, in the case of PS3 and 360 the store options to buy packs with real world cash are run by Sony and Mircosoft. EA and Bioware have no control over either, nor do they get the proceeds from purchases made there.

Err...yes they do.  Microsoft and Sony take a slice, but most of the money goes to EA/Bioware.

Hey, if all us forum goers spend 3 grand, think of how much money they'll have to fix bugs and add new stuff!

Your arguement is invalid.

You have no MP manifest. Your Arguement is unprovable.

But 571.6 hours is a possibability in 2 months or 1440 hours.

Sorry mate, just read the OP.

I already have, before I started posting in this thread.
Now, had you not stop at the OP but kept reading, you would've figured I was talking about the guy who suggested including the 10 Collector Assault Rifle levels in the math about how long it would take to max out all promotional weapons. And note that this has nothing to do with Ultra Rares' drop rate, hence why I wanted the two things to be separate in the discussion.

EDIT: OR... that "sorry" meant an apology on your part for not reading the OP, and that "just read the OP" meant that you read it after posting, making my last post superfluous. As a non native english speaker I have difficulty choosing between the two, so I apologize if I misunderstood.

Yeah, my short line can actually have 3 different meanings.

to clarify: I had only read the original post, didn't see yours. Sorry was for not reading anything but OP.

And you are correct, it should those should be separate and for promotianl it's simple:
50 cards, one every 2 weeks in a commendation pack.

Lets define "random". for a start it means anything can drop at anytime including dupes. for example like someone wrote before about wow and diablo , if u clear the same dungeon several times u r most likely to get the same item!!

Here is the catch now, me3 is in no way random , it searches your save game and sees u got bw1 so u get bw2 , in my dictionary thats ...not so random is it.

if they werent selling them for real money it would be just an ethical matter but wth.. For real money there should be some short of regulation and clear terms so customers dont get scummed.

If your playing solely for the purpose of getting all the ultra rare weapons your doing it wrong. I'd gladly play 500 hours of multiplayer because I find it enjoyable. If you don't find those 500 hours that it takes fun then yeah, you should stop playing the game.

This is mainly an issue of missing the point.

Actually there is only just a BW card. There are not BW1, BW2 etc cards. That card upgrades your current BW +1.

Yes, Doom Lich nailed it. Basically, never spend real money ever to unlock stuff, and just play. You might not actually unlock everything to level 10, OH NO! But, um, do you have fun playing?

That is 96000000 credits or 1372 (rounding up) WINS on Gold.

At an average 25 minutes per win that is 34300 minutes or 571.6 Hours worth of playing.

Yes this is a rough guide but it more then nothing and can place an approximation.

You Mainifest

200 Rares and 15 URs.

15/215 = 6.9% (Assuming you stopped buying Rares when you were full of them.

You said there are 70 UR drops.

70 (UR  Drops) / .069  = 1014 Spectre packs.

1014 * 60,000 = 60840000 Credits / 70000 (Average Win on Gold) = 869 wins * 25 minutes = 21728 Minutes / 60 = 362 Hours of winning Gold.

Take Average

362 + 571.6 / 2 = 466.8

1600 Bioware points at $22 AU. = 72 Points Per Dollar.

160 MS per spectre Pack / 72 points per dollar is $2.20 per pack

Ultra rare drop rate of 6.9%. Or 1 in 14 gives a Ultra rares.

$2.20 * 14  packs = $30.8 per ultra weapon drop or $308 per ultra weapon Level X or 10 drops.

7 level X weapons mean you would pay $2156 for all ultra rare weapons.

i will minus one weapon set from my total

$440 * 7 = 3080
(2156 + 3080)  / 2 = $2618

So from two samples we get

Hours = 466.8
Cost = $2618

I'm at the stage where it is not fun. As in the OP, at this stage, new tools won't make the process any more enjoyable.

I've been playing for some 70ish hours. To me that is the longivity of the MP expereince I can find enjoyable.

If UR's are meant to be rewards for playing and we take that unlocks are the result of earning throught gameplay and explosure and are there to moviate the player to continue playing; then the Drop Rate is not high enough.
In my expereince.

That is why I think the drop rate is not reasonable.
