So i made a rogue as the titel says. its updated in my profile how i built it. i actually didnt readup anything prior to making it and planning on using daggers and some str some dex and mostly cunning.

So i can wear chainmail bcos of my str lvl but how does fatigue work and what numbers should i aim for?

also skills and talents. i was thinking of playing combat skill lvl 4 (as seen in my profile) and poison. i was thinking of stealth lvl 4 and the 1st till coupe de grace and the 2nd till i get that cunning = dmg talent.

im only lvl 7 but even in a party it seems quite hard to play
any pointers any tips?

im sorry if isnt really clear what i said :D my eyes are falling shut and im off to bed

hoping to see some proper tips of u seasoned veterans in this awesome game

regards Burwattee

Forget about medium armor and full size weapons (well, unless you really want to, but it's just a lot of trouble). Light armor and daggers are fine for rogues. You should aim for 20 strength by the time drakeskin armor starts appearing (~lvl15).

The most important stat for a rogue is cunning, followed by dexterity.

Combat stealth is great. Lethality and coup de grace are also must-have talents for a melee rogue.

You don't really need master combat training, because dual weapon mastery is useless for you. Whirlwind is good but you could pass it up (typically, you don't want to be surrounded by enemies, that's the role of a warrior)

Good advices form Loc. I will add:

Get momentum asap.

Best specialization for a cunning rogue is Assassin (get expose weakness asap!)

Bard is great too with very high cunning.

I liked Flurry a lot myself, but I'm no rogue expert.

What the others said.

Also:

It may very well be a bit challenging earlier on as a rogue - once you get some more levels (lets say 10-15 or so), you will see the 'niceness' of rogues, however. Position yourself in the rear of enemies to make backstabs. Stun enemies that face you and circle around again for backstabs. Combat Movement (you'll get it towards Coup de Grace) will widen the angle for backstabs - you'll see it as sort of a 'broken circle' below the enemies towards their back, the angle that is.

Other than that ... Go for Str around 20 (to wear the better light armors). Dex and Cun is another thing: High Cun / Medium Dex will net you higher damage numbers, but you might miss more often (as Dex affects chance to hit). High Dex / Medium Cun will net you a bit lower damage, plus maybe hurting you auxilliary abilties like opening locks or persuation, as they are covered by Cun, but it will give you a superior defense and high chance to hit. I would go with a fairly balanced mix of Dex and Cun, but that is a thing of personal preference.

The main thing for backstabby rogues is just to stay in your targets back and backstab them. Then you will do the most damage, usually.

Rogues are a lot of fun, personally I found them to have the greatest level of survivability of all the melee classes (unless you use a few broken game mechanics). High dex over cunning may reduce damage slightly but the trade off is increased defense. I went for a Rogue/Bard good CC and feign death a life saver... Bard providing an increase to damage. Must admit they are my favorite class and with it I tore Loghain apart easily, they are also damn good off tank. As for armor, if it wasn't for the stats on the second lot of Wade's Drake armor you could go naked or with clothes only and still survive well. Whatever you do it is a fun class enjoy.

Hahaa, I use Zevran + my own character and get them both Whirlwind. Walk them in the middle of mobs that are being tanked, use WW and then Stealth. Possibly save Taunt on tank too just incase. Very entertaining.

But yeah, stick to leather armour and then decide on what talents you want to specificly focus on. Get Duelist ( and Asassination if that strikes your fance ). Also, improved Combat Movement.

You'll have to micro-manage rogues to stand behind their targets. Or you can control the tank and have him position mobs so that they are between him and the rogue.

I played rogue the first time round and fell in love with the class. I usually had him going in ahead of everyone else, disarming traps and whatnot on his own. He also picked off random mobs on his own ( stabby stab, Dirty Fighting, more stabby stab, Stealth, stabby stab etc. ). Or if you're running with just one rogue, have the rest of the party keeping decent combat tactics and leave them to their own devices. Use your rogue to take down ranged mobs that can often become a pain for the tank, especially early on.

So basicly i have to chew through the hard beginning and start shining as of lvl 10 give or take.

cool cheers for the help. alltho in big packs trying to position behind monsters might get me aggro and cant move the tank round bcos hes surrounded. but ill continue. i was thinking of going assassin purely but i cant yet anyway since i havent learned it yet. currently im in the fade world in the mage tower and im getting pwned by multiple ranged :(

much appreciated.

Actually the beginiing is not hard at all for a rogue if you grab momentum at level 3 or 4.

If you are dual wielding watch out for the middle line of talents they are useful for warriors but not realy for rogues.

Don't underestimate the importance of the rogue talents in combat. My latest rogue is sword and buckler and archery, and even deliberately gimped in melee, is devastating at back stabbing.

Poison is a rogues best chum in melee.

Traps let archers relax a bit.

Rogues can be very low stamina users, and will always have hardly any health (no problem apart from AoE).

All of the specialisations are just dandy, no real weak links except archer assassins.

Only downside is that you can bypass two fun companions.

Poisons will last though most encounters on normal, and you can apply different types on your blades at the same time. Very fast application with no animation.

That middle duel wield set of talents are useful if you are face to face with an enemy, but if you get behind you can do much more hurt by backstabbing.
