There is a big difference between a native french speaking person that wants to speak 'correct' english and a person that fakes a french accent. I for one do not like the last.

Exaggeration to the extend can be heared in this link:

Although I laugh my head of with them Image IPB.

Sorry, the French argument was lost on me at "three big boobies" :D

On a totally unrelated note, I did some research and found out that the same actor does Riordan (the good accent) and Hubert (the bad accent). Considering that Riordan is a good guy and Hubert is absolutely obnoxious, is it possible that the thickness and fakeness of the accent is directly proportional to the vileness of the Orlesian using it?

I had no idea Riordan and Hubert were done by the same actor,thanks for the info.
Oh my,I do hope the varying degrees of accent fakeness were not intentional in order to denote "the evil guy" <_<
It would make things pretty easy though - you hear a bad accent,you know you better ready your sharp tongue and equally sharp,pointy objects=]
The cartoonish ,"I am the guilt-ridden bad guy" racoon eyeshadow on Loghain was bad enough:pinched:

Well, me neither. Imagine my surprise.

Companion: "Why did you kill him? He was just asking for direction."
Protag, darkly "I didn't like his accent. It was shady."

I love Loghain to bit, but my first reaction when I saw him in that scene was "What the hell is Professor Snape doing at Ostagar?"

And then, he killed Dumbledore Cailan.

Ooohhh, that would be awfull Image IPB. In some funny scenes I liked the overdone accents but really not on characters that have some influence on the plot. Especially if I have to listen to them a lot Image IPB.

:lol: Exactly...imagine the rumours : "Thedas hero with sensitive hearing is picking off targets.Better just point him/her in the right direction."
I liked your idea of a made-up Orlesian language earlier on the thread,though.:wizard:

edit : removed overly thread-hijacking bits:)

Personnellement, j'aimerais jouer comme un Chevalier ou comme Templiers d'Orlais. L'histoire serait fascinant.

@sjpelkessjpeler :  Yes,Tentacle rules:P edit : just saw Depardieu.Hell yeah:) Or Jean Reno:P

@Das Tentakel : Regarding youtube.com/watch
That barbarian fashion show was priceless :D Although hopefully we will not see those belt augmentations in DA3.

@Dave of Canada : Would not Orlesian-punching Loghain punch our hero then also?<_<
But seriously,I would not mind starting as  a Chevalier like Aveline,either - then go rogue:lol:

I wouldn't mind at all if the protagonist has a French accent if it sounds as good as Leliana. If we have a silent protagonist again.... well, let's just say my attempt at French/ Orlesian accent will be HORRIBLE. I rather leave that to the professional voice actors (with a natural accent, naturally).

The potential of having Loghain hate our third protagonist but talk great of our first / second protagonists would be amusing.

If we could recruit him,I would actually find the irony fascinating:lol: I think there is great potential for some dynamic sarcastic verbal punching there.

I doubt Loghain would be recruit-able, not many people "betray" Alistair and none of the default imports from Dragon Age had a "Loghain alive" variable. Cameo? Possible, though we're two games in and they'd need to give to a very small sect of players.

Still say punching Chevaliers and running off to Ferelden's safety, possibly influencing whether or not Orlais has an easy or hard time invading, would be nice. King Cousland would like to see his father-in-law back.

Yeah he's a chevalier de la Légion d'honneur .
One thing i noticed about Orlais in MOTa , it's there's a lot of inspiration from La Comedia Dell Arte(from italy) , with the arlequin and Duke prosper costume ...so I think Orlais will be a mixed of european culture with french accent.

I loved the voices in mark of the assassin, they sounded right.
I think that a french accent can be awsome for the main character, as long as its not to much.
In assassin creed, Ezios voice was great, because it wasnt over done.
I alwaise wonder why Americans think we speak like this
"Hurn Hurn Hurn, Oui Oui, Zat iz good Chiz Miseur Oulala" No wonder you guys can't stand it hahaha

As Much as i love the French , i can't stand their accent and i don't like English Accents either.
Im Scottish raised In Ireland. And being the Self Biased person i am in regards to culture i would want a soft Scottish or Soft Irish accent well theres 30 Irish accents so just don't pick the Culchie ones haha. I believe Highever is a culmination of Ireland and Scotland maybe another protagonist from there?.
