Are there any Thedas Mysteries you DON'T want the answer to?

After reading another thread which alluded to the possibility of Thedas having an "answer" to some of its biggest mysteries, I got to thinking: I love DA lore, and there are so many questions I'd love the answers to, and stories I'd like to hear, but I realised: part of the appeal of Thedas to me is the chaotic nature of it, the way how events are complicated and messy and very much like how the real world works. And there are elements of the world that I just...don't want to know. Not because I'm uninterested, not because I think it would undermine anything, but because I value the chaos and uncertainty of aspects of the world.

For me, I'm really interested in the early days of the Chantry, in Andraste's role and in what really happened with the Black City - but I have negative interest in finding out for sure whether the Maker really exists, one way or the other. I like not knowing, and what's more I like the citizens of Thedas not knowing. Likewise, I wouldn't have a problem with a big Flemeth Reveal plot, but I don't actually want to ever get all my questions about her answered. And then there are other things I like not knowing, like (spoiler for The Calling ahead!) what exactly was going on with Maric's encounter with Katriel in the Fade. Ghosts or echoes or demons - I don't know, neither does Maric, and that's sort of what makes it so moving. Sometimes mystery is beautiful.

So to all of you guys out there: are there any plotlines or mysteries in
Thedas that you'd be happier never discovering the answers to? Can be big or small, from the smallest piece of backstory for a character to the biggest chunk of lore. I'm really interested to know.

I agree , though I guess sometimes I want the answer just to say "oh i knew it!".
But since Thedas is a world build up on mysteries , discovering the why /how etc might make the world have less appeal.
Like when you were a kid believing in Santa , and you found out the truth and then Christmas ain't the same anymore.

And besides mysteries solved can be underwhelming.(Me3 ending , lost , etc...).

I hope that they keep on giving us key to build up crazy theory and that it gives us a general idea of what might have happened on a bigger scale (gods , blight etc..) but nothing like "and then The people of Thedas freed the good gods from the sky , and the light touched Thedas and cured the taint , everybody got magic again and happiness , love , bunnies ruled eversince. The End."

As for example I don't know ...I guess anything that would cheapen the plot and give us a clear idea of who's bad and who's good.

Every game needs it's share of mystery. It adds to the appeal of the story and overall speculation. Big mysteries need to stay just that, small mysteries that have effect on the plot need to be adressed to and solved. This also includes side quests being answered and not having an answer becoming a mysterie that doesn't need it to be. Just one small example in DA2: the band of three.

Not really, I like knowing these things, makes the world more interesting to me.

I know answering some of the bigger questions has the potential to fudge the entire setting for some (read: reapers), but I don't think I really need to prefix my answer with "If it's done well..".

Eventually, I want to learn about all the big things. Even in my fantasy games, I prefer them to be based on logic, and so things need to be logically explained.

Things I do not wish to have logically explained, is how the combat in DA2 was in any way possible. Just stop doing it, please.

Good stories have ENDINGS. The part where no more story will happen, even if you know the characters continue to live on. When you get to this point, there should never be any more questions. Having no need to continued asking is a big part of what makes it an ending. I hate it when endings deliberately leave you wondering about something. Answer all the questions, or be clear about the story not actually being over.

Anything that has nothing to do with the story of DA III.

The Primeval Thaig, for example, interests me, but I doubt an explanation for it would fit into a game set in Orlais.

Ouch,I sure hope we will not be confined to Orlais alone...:pinched:

I,for one, hope to see the loose threads from the previous games tied up as neatly as possible.
We were left with a lot of questions, but there is one in particular I do NOT ever want to have a definitive answer to ,and that is whether the Maker is real. I would love to be left to theorize about that, even if most other questions about the nature of the DA Universe are answered.:alien:

Why would being confined to Orlais be a bad thing? It's the largest nation on the continent.

Well,"them Orlesians" are an interesting lot,for sure, but I would hope to explore a bit more of Thedas...Tevinter,Antiva,Silent Plains,Nevarra, and the wilderness.
I know it might be a bit too much to ask to be covered in one game, but we have no idea what roadtrip the narrative will have us take:)

I don't really care if we ever find out what the Friends of the Red Jenny are up to. I'm content with them being connected to all sorts of Weird Mysterious S*** for the entire franchise.

Not really... I want ALL mysteries and curiosities and legends and religious history unraveled and answered to by the end of the series. That's just how I am. I like to discover every unknown in a universe, from big to small, nook to cranny. Doesn't mean enlightenment much be achieved within one game, mind, but that all eventually does get concrete answers and that everything is explored fully with no lingering doubt by the time the series ends.

I have one.

Kossith Broodmothers = DO NOT WANT.

If Dwarven and Human Broodmothers were disgustingly terrifying, my mind is absolutely not prepared to go there.
