Well, a Phoenix rises from the ashes, so there's a possibility that it's a Prothean.

Or it can be some character that's been reanimated or brought back to life, I dunno.

Cerberus is the hound guarding ancient Greece's entry to hell.

Someone breaking free from Cerberus is thusly equivalent to breaking from hell. Now, I don't know how hell was depictured in ancient Greece, but I just go with the christian counterpart. Hell is hot. Character emerged from a figurative hot place -> Phoenix ... *tadaah*

Provided the Rebellion rumor is even true, it's pretty obvious that it would be Protheans.

Vorchas are a blight in the galactic community, kill them with fire.

Only thing dirtier than the Batarians.  I want friendly fire turned off so I can missile launcher them.

[SP SPOILERS]

My problem with the whole "defending the lore" when it comes to the SP story is that Jarvik kind of annoyed the hell out of me. First, the whole "we're certain you are the last" nonsense. Right, because you just stumbled on a random Prothean stasis pod and you have .... what, CHECKED THE WHOLE REST OF THE GALAXY?

Whatever. And his whole "I remember you when you were a lizard" routine got old fast.

Personally took him on the final mission on the assumption he would die.

Not to mention that narratively speaking, the MP plot clearly only has a loose relationship with SP. Hey! We're totally winning this war!!!

(not)

The Op Description also mentions Cerberus Defectors right there in the beginning- so I think it's just as, if not more likely, that it's CerbDefs as opposed to Protheans joining the fight as Phoenixes.

Meh. Vorcha are easily the least interesting race of the galaxy thus far. This would be the lowest on my priority if I had a choice.

I mean, crap, I'm still trying to get a Geth Infiltrator.

Eh I hope not. More humans would be lame, new skills or not.

Vorcha is going to be completely and utterly useless against Geth due to the Geth Pyros. Hopefully, they will fare better against Cerberus/Reapers...however, their natural weakness against fire makes them liable in a Random enemy map.

... hang on a minute ... aren't there Vorcha troops with flamethrowers in SP?

New weapon opportunity?

Yes there are, ironically, enough. The issue I was referring to was how, I believe it was the Codex or somewhere that said that vorchas are weak against fire. Also, ingame, the fastest way to kill vorchas is with incindiery ammo.

Protheans would be base breaking. Humans who are genetically modified to posses Prothean abilities, much better.

Besides, we may overload on awesome Jamaican accents if we got more protheans on our team.

the Vorcha are lame and are just cannon fodder for Blood Pack Krogans. How do they rate being N7 operatives. You don't put the fat guy on seal team 6 it just dont make no sense

I think/hope that vorcha classes will mean flamethrower weapon. I predict it will be underpowered and annoying to grief people with the reduced visibility.

Incendiary weapons were effective against vorcha because of their regenerative biology. It's a reference/homage to the hydra in greek mythology whose heads regrew unless you burnt the stumps.

A good case can be made for rehabilitated Cerberus phantoms as well.

I would play nothing but a Phantom in MP if that were an option.

I'd be down for a Sword heavy melee.  I guess we'll find out soon enough whether they are former Cerberus operators or Protheans.

Makes sense, but doesn't that kind of conradict their adaptability? Their skin hardens when it's burned, which makes me believe that in truth, fire would be less effective.

Mythology tells us that the Phoenix didn't eat regular insects and fruit, but frankincense.

What does frankincense sound like? Frankenstein!
What was Frankenstein? A green monster!
What is also green in Mass Effect? The Synthesis ending!

And what is a Cerberus operative? A specific type of reaperized human. A type of biomechanical synthesis!!

According to the wiki the hardening takes at least a week, so their regenerating health is purely a gameplay mechanic in ME2. In multiplayer I would expect them to have higher health to reflect this, and lower shields seen as they are technologically primitive. Opposite to geth.

The Salarians cloned the Krogan war mounts from the fossilized kakliosaur skull that Shepard scooped up in the ... Phoenix Cluster ... So why wouldn't a Salarian white coat be able to ****** Javik's finger?

I agree that it would be great to have some kind of story describing how they were "discovered".

And yet a *slow* regen when not taking damage would be easy to implement and not terribly overbalanced.

Looks like the rebellion DLC is at least partly true. Now, where are the male quarians and phoenixes!?

I really wonder what are these Phoenixes. Please, pretty please, no Protheans.

How about instead of forcing your view on Protheans on the whole MP community you just not play them?

Chances are they are Prothean. Phoenix is rebirth. Protheans are reborn... by mating with Asari? Or they found a couple hundred intact stasis pods.

They will want revenge.

Then I hope the next DLC brings us redeemed Cerberus Soldiers, or a Husk pack with Husks, Marauders and Cannibals that managed to stay independent minded.

They will want redemption and they are not happy.

I'd play a Marauder. Husk/Cannibal? Not so much.
Maybe we can play Phantoms and Banshees too? That Phantom sword would make an excellent heavy melee   I honestly don't predict any of this actually happening though. If they did any of that, I'd then be predicting playable Rachni as well.
