Don't take my jab at explaining the inclusion of Protheans in MP so seriously. Leave that to the bioware guys to come up with a better, well thought out explanation. And you guys were right, the offspring would be Asari. Like I said, don't take what I said so serious.

Didn't imagine so many people were so butthurt at the thought of adding Protheans to MP.

Sigh. Forums.

It's not that people hate Protheans and don't want them in it. It's just that it breaks every lore ever made about them. Bringing them back just means that the Reapers were damn useless and failed to wipe out the Protheans. And with such a wide range of pods even if there was an explanation then how come a VI/AI unfreeze them? The last advanced race before the current world would obviously plan ahead (No Vigil?).

Nothing against anyone. Just a thing BioWare likes skirting around in lore.

From the Operation Silencer Weekend thread

Chris Priestly in Operation Silencer Weekend May 11-13 wrote...

Cerberus defectors have verified key intel on Reaper banshees to help provide us
a vulnerability to exploit. Banshees are created from a specific kind
of asari that cannot be replaced quickly, so we are diverting forces to
focus on an all-out banshee extermination effort.

This task is
an onerous one, and many of you are right to dread contact with these
particular foes, but rest assured that we are prepared to reinforce your
battalion with reserves. The vorcha want in, and as soon as they
complete combined-arms training with our technically-skilled personnel,
we will let them loose.

I would guess most likely that pheonix is Cerberes defectors because they revealed Vorcha in this operation and they have said Cerberus defectors, also the DLC is called Rebellion so it kinda makes sense.

Although I could be completely wrong, I guess we just gottsa wait and see.

Give them "Rockets" and "Flamethrower" as there skills. Would be awesome.

Flamethrower - A continual burst of flame that deals massive DoT. Evolutions include number of bursts, damage, recharge time, damage, distance and duration. High damage to armor, causes staggering to unprotected targets.

Rockets - A powerful rocket that deals huge damage over a large radius.  Evolutions include heat sinking, triple rocket and fragmentation as well as buffs to damage, radius, force and recharge time.

So FINALLY maybe we'll get our own impervious riot shields that the Guardians use!  Only downside is that you have to play viewing through a tiny little rectangle a quarter the size of your TV screen.

Considering the two 'Pheonix' classes are Adept and Vanguard I doubt we will be seeing guardian shields. :crying:

Looks like the rebellion DLC is at least partly true. Now, where are the male quarians and phoenixes!?

I really wonder what are these Phoenixes. Please, pretty please, no Protheans.

Chances are they are Prothean. Phoenix is rebirth. Protheans are reborn... by mating with Asari? Or they found a couple hundred intact stasis pods.

They will want revenge.

Then I hope the next DLC brings us redeemed Cerberus Soldiers, or a Husk pack with Husks, Marauders and Cannibals that managed to stay independent minded.

They will want redemption and they are not happy.

Really husks and cannibals wow thats sad

As sad as Protheans, and it makes as much sense lorewise.

Not really.  Oh look, clones.  Oh look, more stasis pods.

Man, that was easy as hell.

Next?

The Starkid and Javik where enough Deus Ex Machina for a decade, thx.
This IP is starting to look more and more like Lost...

I don't think you know what Deus Ex Machina means.

Javik is not one.  Nor would Prothean clones be.

To everyone I called a moron for suggesting Vorcha character builds when the Vorcha would clearly never be allowed into Spec. Ops, I recall all these statements--I was eventually proven to be the moron.  Feel free to call me out on any statements I ever make from now until the end of time.

I figured MP was outside of canon/lore anyway; otherwise, the Reaper army, Geth collective, and Cerberus forces are WAY bigger than they should be.

If the Vorcha are coming, and it looks like they are, it will probably be in two weeks. The Batarians were hinted at the weekend before they actually showed up. The wording on this suggests the same.

Its ironic that Vorcha pyros exist, since flame kills regen. If they were to be in MP, you'd have to give them unstable fuel tanks that can detonate and wipe the whole squad. ;)

Cerberus Phantoms = combat + biotic capacity = Vanguard ?

Anyway, it's useless without swords. Because space swords are really cool !

thats not lore nor does it even make sense to play as the bad guys

It's as much lore to say that the Husks/Maurauder/Cannibal survived the nanobots designed to transform them and retained some of their consciourness and morality as saying they found a sithload of stasis pods holding Protheans.

Protheans should have never been added they went from extinct to 1

Which is why I'm glad From Ashes is  DLC I didn't get.

Although, I can cope with 1 Prothean alive, but not an entire army.

So then you admit you have NO IDEA what you are talking about....

Beautiful. Your opinion now matters as much as dog **** on the bottom of my shoe.

It stinks and it's annoying as hell.

You seem to be a very bitter person, sir, trying to quote all my posts, and resorting to such low trolling. I am disappointed. I won't even report because I cba.

Because I didn't get From Ashes doesn't mean I didn't watch its playthrough on Youtube, and pretty much every Javik dialog as well.
Before jumping to erroneous conclusions, try to use your brain. You do have one, do you?

I know what a Deus Ex Machina is, within the frame of litterary plot.

Javik isn't one, but was originally designed as one, as HE was supposed to be the Catalyst in the original drafts. I'm glad they reconsidered.

I wanted to make a pun about Deus Ex Machina, refering to ancient, super-powered species (Deus) out of the stasis pods (Ex Machina), but it seems it didn't work, he he he.

All races included in the MP thus far could be recruited by shepard in SP, and Vorcha fit the bill as well. It doesn't make any sense that there were a bunch or prothean clones fighting that shepaed just never noticed and nobody bothered to mention. While some of the enemy placement is a bit hokey, there were remaining reaperized geth, just fewer, and cerberus poked thier heads in frpm time to time.
Given the mention of Vorcha specifically, it seems that we are most likely to see new units be variations of existing races, the way we have the asari justicar and are getting the quarian males (presumably).
I am so tired of people saying pheonixes rise from ashes. It is a convincing argument but we've all heard it and there is no other evidence. The rebirth may just be a theme of the series and not refer specifically to Javik.
Sadly, i find the prospect of protheans in MP a tough pill to swallow. Maybe I'll just votekick them to preserve my immersion.

Lore douche detected.

MP ≠ SP(lore)

All games that have a Single player canon established that have a MP feature almost always include things in the MP that are irrelevant to the lore.

Look at halo reach. The helmet Master Chief uses in H3 was available in Reach, even though it was set in the past, same goes for the Firefight Chief voice. Hell you could even use that helmet in the campaign.

Adding Protheans may shed a some light (even if just a bit) on what they were about. Plus, Javik looks awesome, i wouldn't mind having more of em in MP.

And if it's the lore you're all riled about, you should know that Protheans along with the Vorcha are the only races in the lore that haven't been added to the mix. At least the only logical ones.

Javik wasnt the catalyst in earlier drafts he was suppossed to take Vendetta's place on thessia

Happens to everyone at some point or another. No worries!

I look at it this way; if BioWare can make the addition make sense and, most importantly, serve as a great gameplay experience, then I'm fine with whatever they add to multiplayer.

Leaked script from November. Go to Item 114., where they mention the Prothean on Eden Prime and the Catalyst.

Item 1729. mentions the Guardian as the Catalyst we have now.
