The reapers were only a race of genocial psychopaths because the Catalyst made them be that way. Now that I've usurped control of them from Star-Jar everything should be hunky dory.

That would have been the ultimate twist ending -- just as Shepard is about to sacrifice himself to control the Reapers, Conrad appears! He never left the Citadel, and he's ready to do what's necessary to save his hero. 

Of course, as soon as he got up there, it'd probably go something like:

"Commander! I'm here to -- ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL -- help you choose Synthesis!"

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if EC rolled with something like that:

EDI: Jeff, analysis indicates that the Crucible may have an effect on the Normandys systems due to the IFF.
Joker: What the s***, we didn't take it out?
EDI: It would appear not.
Joker: No time to get back to earth safely... **** **** ****.
EDI: I would recommend evasive action.
Joker: But, what about Shepard?
EDI: Even if we could, there is insufficient time remaining to safely retrieve him, activation of the Crucible is imminent.
Joker: Crap... Let's go then.

*Joker flees*
*People are hopefully a little less angry about him leaving*

It still sucks, but it would be a bit better.

Have you heard of argument ad hominem it is a form of reasoning fallacy that essentially results from justifying your point by pointing to the personal characteristics of individuals you can't say destroy is good because a good person said so or that control is bad because bad people like it. As an example if pol pot said women deserve equal rights does that make women's rights bad because it was advocated by pol pot?

Control has all the advantages of Destroy, plus more, with no disadvantages besides the destruction of the Relays (which is less of a blow with the Reapers still around), which of course happens anyways.

Its as valid anargument as beliving you'll control the reapers forever given the abrupt ending.  Then again the boy did say you would lose everything... in my mind that would also include control of the reapers because that is part of everything.

If you think about it the reapers are lovely, looking out for our galaxy like that. They have a funny way of showing it, but I get the feeling that they really care about organics.

Our technology evolves on the course they set, leading us to building AI's that will destroy all organic life so they then kill us so that all organic life isnt killed because of the technological path they put us on... yeah that's love.  

I often lie awake at night wishing someone would offer to hunt me down, impale me on a spike and turn me into a zombie or melt me down to a genetic paste whilst I was still alive, and then make me part of a giant space-cuttlefish for the rest of eternity... All so I wouldn't maybe be killed one day by synthetics.

You can't buy love like that. <3<3<3
