Hadeedak wrote...If the game wanted to tell me I didn't REALLY end the threat of the reapers, it could do it in sepia tones like every other "NOT REALLY HAPPENING" moment in the game. It's not exactly subtle.

So the slowed movement from the dreams, the music from the dreams, the whispering from the dreams, the plants from the dreams, the speech reverb from the dreams and the child vision from the dreams wasn't enough?

What did you want? A big neon sign with "IT'S NOT REALLY HAPPENING" to show up in the final scene?
Would somewhat ruin the point, I think ;)

Well, if reused models did it. nothing on the Citadel ever happened.

And if you have soundfiles and 'mood' (movements, sounds, ect) to create a 'dreamy' state, such as one experiences during bloodloss or pain, why NOT use them? Just to make it even more confusing?

Since every other 'not really happening' has had a big sepia toned sign, why not?;)

because indoctrination is meant to be more convincing than that :P

Isn't that the same wave as 'good' destroy? Why is 'ending the reaper threat' metaphorical, but the reapers dying literal?

All endings, side by side.

they're all metaphorical

Well, THAT sure clears things up. /sarcasm

That's why I don't like IT. If it's true, we can say even less about the ending of the game.  What's the point? If you want to roll with that, we can debate everything from when Shepard first talks to Sovereign onwards and whether it's real. I mean, I'm pretty sure you can't die and come back to life. Or wake up from indoctrination in any way beyond shooting yourself.

Again, in the Geth consensus, Legion tells you that familiar things are represented through memories, the Quarians didn't need masks when the Geth rebelled, but they are still shown with masks because that's the only way you've seen them.

The conduit run and the "1M1" asset from ME1, the Collector ship and the Shadow Broker ship from ME2, TIM's control room, all make an appearance in that wacky Citadel.

Or it may be the game developers trying to bring a beloved series full circle. Where's the collector ship, the shadow broker ship, and the control room?

Well if you buy into the premise that Reaper corpses can still indoctrinate people, how is "destroy" passing the test? "The peace won't last" indeed.

Just more spewing by the star-twit. Image IPB

I will never take that little twits ideals as canon, nor will I blindly follow his advise. Him and his ilk are dead, and not *ascended*, like many of their previous conquests.

Like him or not, until the extended cut, he's what we've got. If we want to talk about the choices we're given and whether they're good or bad... Well, our common starting point should be the game or else it becomes incoherent really fast.

....Pretty sure no one is in synthesis or control, since the game tells you you ended the threat of the reapers, either. Just sayin'. :innocent:

PFFFT! WHAT? Are you serious?

Anderson/Shepard even say it looks like the Collector ship. The moving metallic panels with lightning are from the Shadow broker's ship, which were supposed to be unique to the shadow broker ship because it stayed in a giant space storm. The control room looks like TIM's room, complete with orange lighting.

Also, notice how the citadel still has cars and hustle and bustle going on? It's because he's never seen it any other way.

Taking the ending at face value means fewer problems.  Your post doesn't have enough headcannon in it.

I want you to know that in the same message that says you ended the reaper threat, it also says to get DLC. What you keep quoting is essentially a message added in at the last second as a selling point for DLC.

Actually, nothing that happened after we actually clicked "new game" was real. you do know this don't you? :P

Actually, in the games, EVERYTIME you die, you can come back to life.

Foolish. By picking Destroy, you have failed the test.

Shepard never left the Geth Consensus. Everything after that is merely a test by the Geth to assess the value of allying themselves with the Organics. Hence the shoehorned in "Organics vs Synthetics" stuff at the end.

If you pick destroy, you clearly place no real value on Synthetic life, so the Geth will kill you.  Which is why you see Shepard's last breath.

OH frak!! I never even thought about the consensus, yikes, boy are they gonna be ticked off at my Shep, oooopsie.Image IPB

You seem to decide what counts towards canon and what doesn't pretty arbitrarily.  "Shepard ended the Reaper threat" is stronger evidence then a vague similarity between the Shadow Broker's ship and some hidden chamber of the Citadel nobody has ever accessed.

Well...

That lends itself to a deep and insightful debate about the meanings of the endings and which one can or can't be said to be the best and the relative merits of each.

(That was a joke).

Wut? it's a text message advertising DLC.

It's an out of game message advertising DLC and confirming that your character ended the Reaper threat.  That's pretty much irrefutable.

Anderson knows that control is why TIM is trying to do. No one knew what the Catalyst was actually capable of until the elevator boss ate Shepard and burped him to God Child. Shepard and God Child have a one-on-one conversation; there is no point where you can call in and ask for advice or opinions.

Hence the importance of destroy, because we all know the Reapers are still reapin', if'n the Blue or Geen choices are Image IPB implemented.
