I was personally unwilling to destroy my Geth Allies, EDI and most technology.

This was the entirety of my reason for choosing Synthesis. My Shepard wanted the Reapers dead to *protect all life*. including the Geth *especially* after she and Legion worked so hard for them. She also really liked Edi and got along wonderfully with her.

The entire concept of 'synthetics will kill organics' offended Shepard, and in her mind, was already disproven.

So I chose Synthesis.

Then I read over indoctrination theory, realized it made a creepy amount of sense, and so I kept an alternate save of her killing the Reapers.

It will actually torment my Shepard to survive that choice, because she only allowed herself to do it because it would kill her along with the Geth and Edi. She'll be a little ball of guilt afterward.

Yet another reason I was happier to sacrifice my Shepard as opposed to an entire race... Though the next Shepard is getting survivor's guilt, AHAHAHA.

Look at the picture I just posted.  And prove to me why the underpinning of Shepard's ocular implants COULD NOT look like TIM eyes.

I don't see the significance of your screen grab. If it had been taken .5 seconds later it'd look like this:

Posted Image

The underpinnings? If that was what hypothetical ocular implant "underpinnings" looked like, then TIM's eyes would look different than they do because they would have another layer above it. We see Shepard's implants if s/he's renegade enough, they do not look the same.

Not what I'm getting at. This: "A player should be able to identify their score/status/goal in the game" is the reason for the visions. Game mechanic heuristics at work.

Wouldn't it be simple to just have the Starchild point out the relevant tube and tell you that you need to shoot it?

And the point still remains, YOU might see what needs to be done. But Shepard's still clueless as far as the story goes. Unless Shepard sees them too.

As long as the player can figure out what to do next the visions or an explanation from the starchild would work. In regards to your point though, there's bound to be some disconnect between what the player may know and what the player character knows. Games just work that way sometimes.

so you agree that unless Shepard sees these visions, that the narrative doesn't make sense at that point? regardless of where "games just work that way or not"?

Yeah I agree.

debatable. Xcution arc lost me (although I've heard the bit after is better). Naruto's been consistently awesome for ages. (not talking about anime for which, it is statistically likely has been filler episodes for a good while :P )

Because renegade Shepard's eyes are whole and healthy (or at least normal). If a renegade Shepard's face was melting off, keeping the same eyes would lack a bit of emotional and visual punch.

They're normal? Really? But TIM's eyes aren't whole and healthy? I see no health difference between renegade shep and TIM's eyes.

I know he came into contact with a Reaper artifact, but I've seen no evidence that he obtained his unique eye pattern from it.

Read Evolution...

Ben touches the artifact, the Illusive Man grabs Ben and the sound effects go SKREESKREESKREE and they get electrocuted...

And then he gets the weird eyes that instinctively lead him to Illium. And it says "Is humanity's fiercest defender even human anymore?"

My real gripe is that even if IT is true, which makes it very clever, it's still a crappy ending and unsatisfying...

Is it really so hard to just have a shut-down code? I mean really? Catalyst controls the Reapers, but doesn't have an off-button? Or the Crucible itself couldn't be the collective effort of the cycles combined wisdom to *create* such a command, and have the Reapers all suicide, leaving everything else intact and alone? Allowing the crew to be together, with Shepard. Hell, there's even a subtle chance they could still save Anderson if the Normandy got there fast enough.

Current ending, if IT is true, is an ingenious *trick*, I admit, and it nailed me good if so, but it is NOT a satisfying finish.

I will agree, Xcution sucked, the whole purpose was to give Ichigo his powers back. The manga is on "The Final Arc" right now, and it's moving so fast... without spoiling it... it's all been leading up to this.

Well, for starters, there's a grey bar across them that aren't there in TIM's eyes in both those shots, as opposed to the 'whites'. It kind of looks like there's four dots, though looking at the thread's caps and mine, it's hard to tell because of where the eyes are pointed.

Frankly, it looks like TIM's eyes run through a fast photoshop to look slightly more mechanical and ... broken.

What, if anything, that means, can range from "AMIGAWD REAPER ARTIFACT" (which the catalyst is), to "LAZY PROGRAMMERS (or sensible ones, since reusing those eyes is easier than crafting a new one, since they 'move' a bit), to "Clearly this means indoctrination is true."

Yep. They both have whites -- a surface. Which disolving Shep does not.

An even better idea: Allow the player to fight the Reapers conventionally.

i guess I'll have to brave through it at some point then. I did for a while, it just seemed that maybe they should have ended it with Aizen (despite all the unsanswered questions) hope you're right though.

OH god, if this was 'the ending we wish we had' thread, I would headcanon that so hard instead of trying to go off what the game tells us and saying 'room for interpretation' over and over.

Just watch the last 3 or so eps. of it. Basically ichi is more powerfull then ever (if you can imagine).

The last arch is all about answering question, and I think Aizen and Ichigo may be on the same side at some point, if just for a while.
