I thought about it and I don't want a platinum or diamond difficulty.
People would exploit it and just do FBWG and get even more credits out of it.
Unless they buff up the AI and change the way credits are earned (bonus for random settings?) I don't want it.
As I understand it, this won't be once they fix Geth Primes' Combat Drones to missile the crap out of those in cover...

Not every player is Gold grade material, so raising the difficulty on existing levels just raises the ire of casual players as well as those who have have issues with the randomness of the Store system.

And a Shield hardness mechanic.

Making the game harder means making the AI smarter and more challenging. Buffing enemies that are dumb just makes gameplay frustrating.
More likely means tinkering with some spreadsheet values.

..Why would farmers not just switch to FBW/G/P, if the credit rewards are greater and the same effortless "shooting gallery"+cloak farming strategies work? I'd much rather the rewards for Platinum be exactly the same as (or even slightly lower than) Gold, so farmers stay on Gold, and Platinum becomes a separate place for people who play for fun/challenge, where they can find games without waiting for an hour for a public game to fill up, or being forced to create private games for every match they play (and then being kicked even as host, because everyone who joined decided they want to play FBW/G/G instead).Korolen wrote...
If they do make a platinum difficulty, it should give the same/no more than slightly more credits than gold. Otherwise, people will inevitably begin to farm it as they do with today's gold.

They did learn that lesson pretty well from ME1's Insanity, and took fairly good strides to improve the difficulty scaling in ME2's Hardcore/Insanity. They're not as dumb, are actually experienced in game/difficulty balancing, and know what they are doing.Methanoid666 wrote...
they need to do more than just up the damage/number of opponents, npc opponents should change tactics or hug cover more or something noticable other than make their weapons do more dmg.
People talking/whining on the forums most likely plays approximately no part at all in determining what changes are made. Do you really think they just read that <1% (probably even <0.1%) of players thinks weapon X is too overpowered and immediately "nerfs" it?corporal doody wrote...
a very very very very very small % of people want want want. They may get what they want. Then they **** **** **** **** about what they got. In this case it is too hard. But it dont matter....cuz that small % has yet again screwed over everyone else....who think it is just fine as is....

Bioware has a complete picture, with in-depth actual valid statistics about everything, which is far, far more accurate than what the players base their opinions on (tiny sample sizes, misconceptions, incomplete understanding of game mechanics, biases, and alterior motives).
What was the most recent FB White statistic? Something like 36.x% of player-chosen maps are FB White. Over a third of player-chosen games are played on the most widely known easily farmable map, when there's at least 3 other maps just as easily farmable (but less well-known) and 7 other maps to play. And yet pro-farmers still argue that FBWhite farming isn't as common as anti-farmers make it out to be, or that it's easy to find a non-FBW random match on Gold in a few minutes, etc. And that's not even counting the majority of players who will never visit the forums and never find out common farming/FBW tactics or FotM builds/classes/skills or anything of that nature.
Bioware knows, players guess.

Hardcore Bronze: SOOOO MANY FOES YOU DON EVEN KNOW. (Roughly gold difficulty, but more suited for rapid fire weapons.)
Diamond. (Combine the above.
